1 Preparation for Software Upgrade

1.1 Scope

This upgrade software packet applied to ZXMW PR10 S400&S500 upgrade.

1.2 Tools preparation

Required tools and software before upgrade:

1 piece of Personal Computer installed with IE browser properly and net cable.

FileZilla software installation packet.

ZXMW PR10 S400&S500 software packet to be upgraded.

1.3 Notes for upgrade

1. Confirm version serious No. of upgrade software packet.

2. Backup data, record original data, prepare upgrade packet of old version as versionbackup. Acquire and backup complete MW link config data of whole net, including

longitude and latitude, location and linkman, IP address, modulation mode, capacity,

bandwidth, frequency, Tx power, Rx level, alarm and etc.

3. Confirm availability of network management personnel and site operator.

4. All personnel on site must follow order of network management personnel.

5. Strictly operate according to upgrade guide, and operation out of line is forbidden.

6. Prepare emergency solution, check link status before upgrade, record necessary

KPI and alarm. If there is link with problem such as low Rx level, serious alarm and etc.,

make timely report and judge if it is ready to be upgraded or not.

7. Inform relative operator personnel of upgrade time regularly.

8. Validate field upgrade test within 72 Hrs after upgrade.

2 Software Upgrade

2.1 Upgrade Preparation

2.1.1 FTP Server Installation

To upgrade S340, FTP server need to be installed in the PC or NMS server. So, the

software package can be downloaded from PC or NMS server to the equipments.

FileZilla Server is used to setup FTP server, there is axample with version 0.9.37.

1. Click FileZilla Server installation file , the window ofFigure 2-1 pop-ups.

2. Clilck button I Agree, and then the window as shown in Figure 2-2 pop-ups.

Select Standard as the type of install.

Install as service, started with Windows (default) . the selection of port is also as

default14147.

5. Click button Next, the window ofFigure 2-5 is displayed to make settings on

the start type of software interface. Choose Start if user logs on, apply to all users

(default) in Drop-down box. There is no need to select the choice of whether start

interface after installation.

6. Click button Next and The window as shown in Figure 2-6 is displayed. The

installation process begins.

7. Click button Close, and the installation process completes.

2.1.2 FTP Server Sertting

1. Double click FTP server to open and setting. Here, no modification is needed. The

window is shown asFigure 2-7.

3. On the menu bar of FileZilla Server in the left area of window, clickEditUsers,

the window ofFigure 2-9 pop-ups.

4. Click button Add in group box of captionUsers, the dialog shown inFigure

2-10 pop-ups to add new user. In this example, zteis input.

5. Input User Name and Click button OK. In the window ofFigure 2-11 , tick the

selection in the field of captionpassword, input the password for the user. In this

example, the password for user zte is set to zte.

6. ClickShared foldersin left navigation tree, the page is displayed as shown in

Figure 2-12.

Note:

Shared folders path of FTP server should be set to the final layer directory. In this example,

software files are stored in C:\update. So the path should be C:\update.

8. Click button Confirm, the page shown in Figure 2-14 is displayed. Click

checking window of Read, Write, Delete under captionFiles.

Finally, click button OK, setting is completed.

Note:

Its suggested that to set FTP share holders under root directory and name the folder in

English.

9. Copy upgrade package to the shared folder address of FileZilla Server.

2.2 Upgrade Steps

1. Open IE browser, input IP address of IDU to be updated to address column, here is

10.61.120.253, ENTER,Figure 2-15 is displayed:

2. Input user name and password to textbox User Nameand PasswordDefault user

name and password is admin, clickLOGON,Figure 2-16 is displayed:

3. Click navigation column leftward in turnConfiguration TCP/IP Config FTP

Interface,Figure 2-17 is displayed:

4. Setup FTP information.

i. Input FTP Server IP address into textbox Server IP Address, here is

10.61.120.54.

ii. Input FTP user name to textbox User Name, here is zte

iii. Input FTP user password to textbox Password, here is zte

iv. Click Apply, finish setup.

5. Click navigation column leftward in turn Maintenance System System

Software , enter software download interface, software version info.

Interface areas description:

Active BankTo show Active Bank.

Primary Bank Software VersionTo show software version of Primary Bank.

Alternative Bank Software VersionTo show software version of Alternative

Bank.

Alternate Software BankTo be chosen by user, choose Bank with new

version software packet as Alternate Software Bank while upgrading, here is

bank1.

6. Upgrade software version

i. Designate filename of upgraded software packet in area box

System Software Filename. input filename of upgraded software packet

in textbox System Filename, here isPR10-S400S500-V2.00.000m.tar, as

shown in Figure 2-19. During actual upgrading operation, input filename of

software packet to be downloaded, click Apply, bottom right of this area

box.

iv. Wait for a while, if download is successful, window is shown asFigure 2-22.

Content within red column is Version Number of downloaded software, which

shows software is upgraded to alternative bank.

please see2.3 Solution of failing software update.

v. Set up version switch info. in area box System Software Switch, here

choose Bank 0 from lower column of Alternate Software Bank, set

software to be upgraded as Primary Bank software version, click Apply

on bottom right of area box, window asFigure 2-24 is shown.

Caution:

If upgrading 1 hop of equipment, switch equipment of opposite end first, then local

equipment.


7. Click menu of navigation column leftwardMaintenance System Reboot,

interface asFigure 2-25 is shown.

8. Click linkCold Rebootafter Cold Reboot, restart system, valid setup.

2.3 Solution of failing software update

Check network cable connection proper or not;

Check whether IP address of equipment and FTP SERVER are in the same network

segment or not;

Check whether FTP Server is configured properly or not;

Check whether FTP Interface options of WEB CIT are configured properly or not;

Check whether there is upgrade software packet in designated Home Directory by

user;

Check filename of software packet correct or not.

2.4 Test items after upgrade

1. Function validation:

Validate whether new function is realized, and whether system performance is

improved or not.

2. Performance test:

i. System error rate test: check error rate in proper range or not after upgrade.

ii. Radio test: Check radio transmission proper or not, check whether there

is serious packet loss or not.

iii. Rx/Tx level test: Check whether Rx/Tx level is within required range of design,

whether there is difference comparing with the level before upgrade.

3. Main product validation:

Validate main equipment and radio peripheral equipment work properly or not after

upgrade via TOS phone
