Zodiac Galleys & Equipment

The engineers of the Zodiac Electrical Inserts Division have developed two completely new suites of galley inserts to cater to every customer

need. Unique in design and functionality, these appliances are achieving global acclaim.

The Reddot Design award winning Concert™ Suite has been created to serve our customer needs with lower weight, improved safety and

noise reduction technologies. Our challenge has been to combine form and function, delivering an attractive and elegant appearance while

incorporating increased functionalities required by airlines today. Thus, every galley insert of the suite incorporates a continuous design

language with integrated elliptical forms at the front, which reflects the curved surfaces in the aircraft cabin and blends beautifully into galley

structures. The integrated functions of the brew drawer and the hand grip fit in the elliptical form. All inserts have a closed shape, which in

the case of the coffee maker or the beverage maker is realized through the insulated coffee pot.

The products are designed to reduce up to 75 kilograms of weight on a typical widebody configuration which leads to dramatic fuel savings.

And with our focus on always maximizing safety, the new design includes an oven door with double safety latching that can be used with only

one hand, an insulated serving pot and a steam oven without internal overpressure. Regarding noise emission, these galley inserts realize an

average of 30% below the most stringent limits. All in all these inserts provide our customers with improvements in design, noise reduction,

safety, handling, and especially weight. - Whether in ATLAS, or ARINC 810 standard, the Concert Suite will meet your highest expectations.

Our state-of-the-art Symphony™ line of galley inserts is named for its beautiful composition of reliability, efficiency, and flight crew

satisfaction. Symphony takes into account the essentials for daily, high-functioning operation, focusing on a safer cabin environment, lower

weight and ultimately, enhancing the airline crew’s experience with a user-friendly interface. Airline return on investment is rapid, thanks to

the reliable design and construction, lower energy usage and weight conservation.

Safety concerns such as bursting pillow packs, spitting water spouts, and pressurized cavities were all addressed by composing creative and

product enhancing solutions. Thus, every insert in the Symphony suite was designed from the ground up, taking into consideration the voice,

vision and needs of our customers. Patented, pioneering technology includes uniform cooking temperatures through improved air flow and

uniform heat distribution to avoid over- and undercooking is just one of many Symphony’s improvements. Symphony allows catering chefs

to prepare a melody of delicious flavors, with greater flexibility and extended range than ever before.

Actively listening to our customers, we created Symphony to combine an aesthetically appealing and clean galley appearance with durable

and lightweight materials. Symphony creates a standard industrial design across the suite which helps complement the galley and provides

a simple, yet sophisticated appearance. Features include full color displays, flexible presets and universal controls enabling airline staff to

focus on superior service. Every component of the Symphony suite plays its own unique role, yet works beautifully in concert with all the

This new oven is 30% lighter than today’s model. The easy to operate controls help to ensure that passengers are served with the best

food at any time of the day. An in-built timer, which can be set to up to 60 minutes, ensures safe heating of deep frozen food to service

temperature. The noise reduction with its average of 30% below the most stringent requirement, makes them user friendly in today’s

quiet aircraft. Our oven has a 1-hand design, saving working steps and has easy maintenance needs.

The new water boiler offers a 3.2 liters capacity. It is rail mounted and is able to handle variable frequency power supplies. The in-built

sensors and mechanisms ensure efficiency and safety in operation. The water boiler is easy to maintain and it is useable for instant

coffee, tea, or soups. A front flap allows quick-access to fasten or unfasten the water boiler at the rail and to drain the tank.

In the Symphony Trash Compactor we have maintained the traditional front load trash door and also added a top loading feature. It

can be pulled out for top loading, taken up and down the aisle for trash collection, and removed from the plane for easy cleaning. This

new ARINC compactor is 30 pounds lighter than previous models and provides the highest forced compaction in the industry, nearly

doubling your trash collection capacity. One Symphony trash compactor takes the place of up to three waste trolleys.

The Combo Water Heating Unit has been developed to provide boiling water on board aircraft. By design and material selection the

Combo Boiler provides an attractive and ergonomic alternative to the standard range of water boiling products. With a permanent

installed base unit and easily removable kettle, the system provides flexibility with convenient operations. As the kettle contains no

The fixed Air Chiller systems are designed to conform to internationally accepted guidelines for galley food requirements for Boeing

and Airbus aircraft. The Chillers are designed to meet or exceed the applicable FAA and EASA requirements. All of the food is kept

at a safe temperature, even under extreme on-ground high ambient heat conditions. This unit has the highest cooling capacity on the

market; one Air Chiller can cool up to 7 or 8 carts.

catching imagery for every culture, theme and environment. Select from a limitless number of choices, such as your own customized logo,

a historic flight scene, or vibrant color graphics. Displaying promotional visuals such as duty free items, airline promotions and food service

In addition, these panels are fully reversible adding even more flexibility to quickly freshen up your galley area, without storing extra panels on

Standards are defined to normalize the dimensions of the inserts. They

simplify the communication and interchangeability, to make everything

look consistent.

Regarding the definition of mechanical guidelines ARINC 810 is the latest

aircraft interface standard. All dimensions, attachment points, and con-

nections for electricity as well as for water are defined. ARINC standards

tightens up the older ATLAS standards allowing ARINC to be the first true

global and universal standard. All beverage makers like coffee makers

or water boilers are mounted with rails and may be easily interchanged.

Also there are defined sizes for the bun warmer and for the oven. For an

additional specification of the communication, ARINC 812 covers that

standard. It is designed for communication between the separate ins-

talled galley units and the aircraft itself. All units can be controlled with

one single touch screen display.

ARINC 812 enables an intelligent power-management as well as

maintenance-management. For this reason Zodiac Cabin Controls

developed the Galley Network Controller (GNC) as an electronic

system controller that monitors and controls all electrical galley

inserts (GAIN).

This GNC provides full system functionalities including power

management, failure monitoring and data transfer between con-

nected GAINs. It also provides the interface to the higher aircraft

management systems and supports field-loadable software func-

tionality. The network communication to the aircraft and connec-

ted units is realized via a Controller Area Network (CAN). The Gal-

ley Network Controller is the first fully compliant ARINC812 and

ARINC825 system controller.
