The Solid Waste Management District is a public agency that works to promote environmentally-sustainable and economical solid waste management practices within the communities, institutions and businesses of Cuyahoga County.

How Do We Pay for This?
• Visual waste audit to right size service level and possibly decrease trash service before recycling - save $$$ here.
• Renegotiate waste hauling contract or bid out for new service – save $$$ here
• Look at utility bills to see if savings are available - save $$$$ here
General Tips
• Do Not Recycle - Plastic cutlery, any plastic container under 2 inches in size, disposable coffee cups, Styrofoam cups or food containers
• Saran wrap, wax paper• Do not put plastic bags in your recycling bin –
take them back to stores to be recycled.• Put plastic caps back on plastic bottles – screw
on tightly.

• Shredding Company – NAID certified, office, health care, law firm, anywhere with confidential papers
• Specialty Recycling Companies – manufacturing firms, larger businesses, some offices
