ZAVA was created thanks to the founder, Franco Zavarise’s creative

talent and visionary energy: in his workshop he was able to combine

advanced technology and wise craftsmanship in metalwork.

From the very start, Zava has created lighting products and furni-

L’Azienda

Company

ZAVA nasce nel 1982. Fin dall’inizio, il

naturale istinto per il design, l’esperien-

za nella lavorazione del metallo e la

passione per l’illuminazione portano il

titolare, Franco Zavarise, a immaginare

un meraviglioso connubio tra queste

arti; è così che l’azienda si sviluppa in

questa direzione, coniugando metallo

e illuminazione in modo originale ed

innovativo.

Da allora, quella di ZAVA è una storia

di affermazione continua, costruita su

valori artigianali forti e radicati e sulla

continua innovazione tecnologica, che

contribuiscono a rendere inconfondibile

la sua capacità manifatturiera.

Oggi l’azienda può, infatti, essere consi-

derata una vera e propria eccellenza

del made in Italy.

ZAVA was created in 1982. From the be-

ginning, the natural instinct for design,

experience in metalwork and passion

for lighting inspired the owner, Franco

Zavarise, to create a company that

combines iron and illumination in an

originale and innovative way.

Since then, ZAVA has had constant suc-

cess, but only thanks to the quality of

radicated craftsmanship and constant

technological innovation that make it’s

manufacturing unmistakably unique.

La lampada Off ic ina nasce dal l ’ in-

contro fra due creat iv i unit i da pas-

sioni comuni : le archeologie indu-

str ial i e le vecchie lampade da lavoro.

I l r isultato è una lampada dal le l inee

“ruvide” ma evocat ive; ispirata al le

vecchie off ic ine, ma pensata per tut-

te le “off ic ine contemporanee”.

The lamp Off ic ina was born from

the fel lowship meet ing between

two designers united by common

passions: the industr ial archeology

and the old style working lanterns .

The result is a lamp with a “ rou-

gh” but evocat ive shape, inspired

to the old industr ial shops atmo-

sphere, but designed for al l the

“contemporary workshops”.

Quando ho disegnato questa lampada è stato i l pr imo nome che mi è venuto in mente

perché ho pensato al la sua forma compatta e massiccia . Soda s i ispira al le vecchie lam-

pade industr ial i ma s i ingent i l isce con i l suo interno colorato a contrasto o in fogl ia oro,

argento o rame.

When I designed this lamp was the f i rst name that came into my mind because I

thought to i ts compact and massive shape. Soda is inspired by the old industr ial

lamps but becomes more gentle thanks to the colorful inter ior or decorated with

gold s i lver or copper leaf f in ish .

Cant iere, l ike the name suggests, is an adjustable f loor lamp which reminds us of

technical l ight ing for construct ion s i tes but is revis i ted for home environments in a

contemporary and essent ial way.

The large circular luminaire provides generous i l luminat ion and the handle helps

holding and or ient ing the lamp whi le at the same t ime making i t easy to move the

device from room to room. The removable gr id gives i t character and a strong ap-

pearance. I t is avai lable in two s izes, with or without the gr id and in var ious colors .

Essenzialità e rigore d’altri tempi in

REVERB: una collezione di lampade da

tavolo che trae ispirazione dalle anti-

che lanterne a carburo. La linea rivela

la presenza caratterizzante di un diffu-

sore concavo dallo schermo circolare

che si innesta su di una base cilindrica;

al pari di una piccola parabola illumi-

nante, REVERB proietta così la luce

e la irradia nello spazio, per rivestire

gli ambienti di caldi riflessi lumino-

si. Completano il progetto la presen-

za di un dimmer attraverso cui variare

l’emissione luminosa, che consente a

REVERB di entrare in sintonia con i di-

versi luoghi della casa, dalle zone più

conviviali agli ambienti dedicati al ri-

Simplicity and precision define RE-

VERB: a collection of table lamps in-

spired by ancient carbid lanterns. It

has a concave diffuser with a circu-

lar screen that is grafted on a cylin-

drical base; its like a small illumina-

ting curve.

volto alla risoluzione di bisogni...sul fo-

glio si schizza la lampadina, si aggiun-

ge un piano di appoggio, magari un ar-

chivio per libri o musica e, perché no,

infiniti profili di lampade che avvolgono

la luce...

la mia progettual i tà , i l mio design ad

A family of lamps designed for

the contract and more general ly

for major instal lat ions. I wanted to

give to the inter ior designers or to

the end customers the chance to

“draw” shapes and descr ibe sculp-

tural volumes freely, by providing

r ings of l ight that are st i f f, but

ethereal at the same t ime. I l iked

the idea of offer ing my project

concept, my design to other pro-

fessionals, creat ing a s imple al-

phabet, made of di f ferent diame-

ters and l ight-free path to be able

to compose these “ letters” with

great invent iveness and create hi-

Delineodesign (Giampaolo Allocco, Master in

Industrial Design) sviluppa progetti multidi-

sciplinari di industrial design. Aggiudicatosi 11

International Award, ha progetti esposti al Chi-

cago Design Museum. Lavora per BMW Husq-

varna, Lasportiva, Manfrotto, Scubapro, Ifi In-

dustrie, Head, Gaber, Casamania, Doimo, Bosa

Ceramiche e Kubico.

Delineodesign Studio (Giampaolo Allocco, Ma-

ster in Industrial Design) deals with all sorts of

industrial design projects. He won 11 interna-

tional awards and has projects displayed in the

Chicago Design Museum. He works for BMW

Husqvarna, Lasportiva, Manfrotto, Scubapro,

Ifi Industrie, Head, Gaber, Casamania, Doimo,

Bosa Ceramiche and Kubico.

ENRICO AZZIMONTI

Architetto e designer, parallelamente all’attività

didattica presso lo Ied di Milano e altre Univer-

sità italiane, collabora con aziende come TVS,

Lavazza, Guzzini, Coop, JVC, Diamantini&Do-

meniconi, Bosa, Pavoni Italia, Deutsche Bank.

Alcuni suoi lavori sono esposti presso il Museu

de les Arts Decoratives di Barcellona.

Architect and designer, while teaching at IED

Milan and other Italian universities, he colla-

borates with company as TVS, Lavazza, Fratelli

Guzzini, Coop, JVL, Diamantini&Domeniconi,

VALERIO COMETTI - V12 DESIGN

Laureato in Ingegneria Meccanica al Politecni-

co di Milano, fonda nel 2005 a Milano lo stu-

dio “Valerio Cometti+V12 Design”. Collaborazio-

ni: Brionvega (televisioni); Leucos (lampade);

LaCimbali (macchine caffè); Riva1920 (mobi-

li); Fiam Italia (vetro); Mediaset (elettronica);

FEB21st (luxury eywear). Dal 2009 è columnist

di car design per Mondadori.

Valerio Cometti, graduate in Mechanical Engi-

neering from Milan’s Polytechnic, establishes

in 2005 “Valerio Cometti+V12 Design” in Milan.

Collaborations: Brionvega (television); Leucos

(lamps); LaCimbali (coffee machines); Riva1920

(furniture); Fiam Italia (glass); Mediaset (electro-

nics); FEB31st (luxurious eyewear). Since 2009,

Valerio Cometti is car design columnist for

Mondadori.

C12

C12+ è un progetto collaterale del collettivo to-

rinese C12, attivo dal 2007 nell’ambito del desi-

gn autoprodotto e di ricerca. C12+ è oggi Anita

Donna Bianco, fondatrice di C12, e Gianni Co-

lonello, automotive e industrial designer. En-

trambi architetti per formazione e designer per

passione, collaborano su progetti che fondono

i loro percorsi.

C12+ is a spinoff program of the Torino based

C12 work group, founded C12+ in 2007 and acti-

ve in self produced design and design resear-

ch. C12+ is formed by Anita Donna Bianco, C12

co-founder, and Gianni Colonello, automotive e

industrial designer. Both architect and designer

for passion, they collaborate on programs mer-

ging their paths.

LORENZO DAMIANI

Laureato in Architettura, si occupa di furniture

e product design. Tre le mostre personali da ri-

cordare: “Ma Dove Sono Finiti gli Inventori? Lo-

renzo Damiani” - Triennale design Museum nel

2009; “Prova a Prendermi” - Triennale 2012; “Lo-

renzo Damiani: Senza Stile” - Fondazione Achil-

le Castiglioni 2012.

Architecture graduate, does furniture and pro-

duct design. Three of his exhibits to remember:

“But where have all the inventors gone?” Da-

miani did at Triennale design Museum in 2009;

“Catch me if you can” also at Triennale and “Lo-

renzo Daminai: Style-less” at Studio Museum

Achille Castiglioni, both in 2012.

ALBERTO GHIRARDELLO

Nasce a Vicenza nel 1985. Dopo la laurea in

Disegno Industriale allo I.U.A.V. di Venezia nel

dal 2010 al 2013 lavora nello studio di Giulio Iac-

chetti. Nello stesso anno fonda il proprio studio

di progettazione, occupandosi di design a 360°

collaborando con numerose aziende, sia italia-

ne che estere. I suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati

ed esposti in svariate riviste del settore.

He was born in 1985 in Vicenza. After gaining

his Industrial Design bachelor degree at I.U.A.V.

University of Venice in 2007, he had a six months

internship at Bartoli Design studio. From 2010 to

2013 he had been working for Giulio Iacchetti’s

design studio. In 2013 he founded his own desi-

gn studio, working on the full spectrum of de-

sign and collaborating with several companies.

His work is covered by many design magazines

and exhibited in many events.

FILIPPO MAMBRETTI

Docente e professionista nel campo del design

di prodotto e della progettazione di interni. Vin-

citore di innumerevoli premi di design, insegna

presso le scuole Svizzere di Design ed Arti ap-

plicate SSS_AA e CSIA e dirige il Mambrò Desi-

gn Studio, con sede a Chiasso dal 2011, attivo

sia in Svizzera che in tutta Europa, grazie alla

viva collaborazione con diverse realtà dell’in-

dustria, del design e della progettazione archi-

tettonica.

He currently works as a product, furniture, and

interior designer, as well as being a lecturer at

SSS_AA and CSIA, two schools which specialise

in design and applied arts, located Switzerland.

His Mambrò Design Studio, founded in Chiasso in

2011, is a significant player in the flourishing Euro-

pean market. For Mambrò Design Studio, redisco-

vering and reinterpreting tradition in a contempo-

rary climate are achieved through morphological,

technical and functional innovations.

CHRISTIAN PICCOLO

Nato a Montebelluna (Treviso) nel 1977, de-

signer eclettico. Dopo la laurea in Accademia

di Belle Arti, inizia l´attivitá di designer, interior

designer e graphic designer. Ha indirizzato la

sua ricerca verso un linguaggio formale che

potremmo definire minimalista e razionale. Co-

mincia l´attivitá professionale disegnando i suoi

primi prodotti in ceramica, in seguito collabora

con diverse aziende con le quali partecipa alle

più importanti fiere internazionali.

Eclectic designer born in Montebelluna (Trevi-

graphic designer. His creations can be conside-

red minimal and rational.

He began his professional career designing his

first ceramic creations and later started working

BRIAN RASMUSSEN

Brian Rasmussen è nato a Ringsted (Danimar-

ca) nel 1973. Si laurea alla “Royal Academy of

Architecture” di Copenhaghen nel 2000. Già nel

primo anno di studio vince il concorso nazio-

nale “PRISOPGAVE KØBENHAVN” (Danimarca)

con il progetto futuristico di una stazione del-

la metropolitana. Dopo gli studi si è trasferito a

Venezia dove vive attualmente.

Brian Rasmussen was born in Ringsted (Den-

mark) in 1973. He graduates at The Royal Aca-

demy of Architecture in Copenhagen in 2000.

Already as a first year student he won the na-

tional student competition “PRISOPGAVE KØB-

ENHAVN”(Denmark) with a project for a futuri-

stic metro station. After his studies he moved

to Venice and has been living there ever since.

MASSIMO ROSATI

Architetto, giornalista e blogger, si occupa da

sempre di design e comunicazione. Dopo aver

collaborato con i principali editori e aver diretto

per 14 anni il mensile LA MIA CASA, ha fondato

Designstreet.it, il web magazine dedicato al de-

sign contemporaneo. È designer per passione.

Architect, journalist and blogger, always intere-

sted in design and communication. Having wor-

ked together with the main editors and having

directed the monthly LA MIA CASA for 14 years,

he founded Designstreet.it, the online magazi-

ne dedicated to contemporary design. He is a

designer out of passion.

ALESSANDRO ZAMBELLI

PAOLO ULIAN

Alessandro Zambelli vive e lavora a Mantova. Si

specializza in Disegno Industriale e Tecnica dei

Materiali presso la Fondazione Cova di Milano e

nel 2000 inizia la sua attività professionale con

Agape. Nel 2003 nasce Alessandro Zambelli

Design Studio. Si aggiudica l’European Consu-

mer Choice 2011 e NYIGF Award 2012, ADI De-

sign Index 2014 e Premio per l’Innovazione ADI,

Interior Innovation Award 2015.

Industrial designer toscano di origine, nei primi

anni 1990 è a Milano per lavorare con Enzo Mari.

Ha vinto il “Design Report” Award e il premio

“Dedalus”. Collabora con Droog Design e con

alcune aziende italiane tra le quali Driade, Fon-

tana Arte, Zani e Zani, BBB Bonacina, Sensi&C.,

Coop, Skitsch.

Alessandro Zambelli lives and works in Matua.

STUDIO 14

Nel 2010 il Designer Diego Bassetti e l’Archi-

tetto Andrea Panzieri, fondano lo studio di pro-

gettazione Studio 14. Collaborano con aziende

leader: Casprini, Colico Design, Antonangeli, Bi-

lumen, Sforzin, Mogg, Terzani, Diamantini & Do-

meniconi, Kundalini, Arkof Labodesign e sono

pubblicati sulle principali riviste del settore.

In 2010 Diego Bassetti - Designer and Andrea

Panzieri - Architect, decided to make together

the design studio “Studio 14”.They work with

leader companies: Casprini, Colico Design, Li-

ghting Antonangeli, Bilumen, Sforzin Lighting,

Mogg, Terzani, Kundalini, Arkof Labodesign and

have been published in the main magazines.

FRANCO ZAVARISE

Franco Zavarise nasce a Mareeba, Australia, nel

1960. Dopo gli studi tecnici matura il deside-

rio di realizzare corpi illuminanti per gli amici

di sempre. Nel 1982 fonda la ZAVA, una realtà

dinamica in continua espansione. Crede nel de-

sign bello, accessibile e sostenibile.

La finitura ruggine di ZAVA é assolutamente eco-sostenibile: non viene

utilizzato alcun acido per ottenerla. Il prodotto viene lasciato all’aperto

e attraverso un processo naturale si ottiene l’effetto ruggine. E’ impor-

tante saperlo perché questo trattamento richiede un tempo più lungo

rispetto ai trattamenti chimici, che varia dalle 3 alle 4 settimane.

The rusted finish of ZAVA is obtained by a totally eco-friendly proce-

dure: we do not use any chemical acid. The object is left in open air

and through a natural process, finally we obtain the rusted effect. It is

very important to mention it because the lead time of ZAVA to get the

rusted treatment is of about 3-4 weeks time.
