About project/

This is a collaboration between SEOS Design, VTT technical research centre and Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, aimed at improving and developing services within the Finnish Wood and Forestry Industry.

This project provides and analysis of and service solutions to how the Finnish wood industry could better serve architects and designers. The methods of the study used qualitative research interviews of Finnish designers and architects.

As designers we then interpreted this research information mixed with some of our own experiences to develop concept solutions. All detailed findings can be found in the appendices.Our findings showed a need for greater access to information and interaction with the wood supply chain, particularly at the early stages of the design process. We developed several service concepts to address these needs. these services are the WoodOrg, Wood Visualisation, New Thing, and Wood Material Search services.

The project finds the prospects of information exchange between the wood industry and designers and architects in its current position are not positive. The major areas of weakness require implementation of services to facilitate greater interaction between the parties.

A good sample of Finnish designers and architects gave us good insight into local opinions and experience with the wood supply chain.

在日本，原研哉將觸覺延伸至視覺，溫暖的尋路系統指引出梅田醫院的幸福方向，

在英國，皇家藝術學院的設計團隊在完善的使用者研究中，為病人的尊嚴而努力。

在台灣，我們也想用設計的力量打造一個家感覺的醫院。讓病房間洋溢著一點家的幸福，在醫院睡袍上縫上一些尊重。

期待有那麼一天，抱著肚子哇哇叫的小妹妹不會迷失在混亂的指標中，找不到急診室。打著點滴的老爺爺，不用在寒冬中讓一隻手臂吹冷風。患有糖尿病的阿嬤拿著一袋又一袋的藥包，卻清楚知道該吃哪些藥。

期待有那麼一天，更多貼心的設計溢滿醫院，更多的設計師關注於醫療設計。

Background 林金龍65 歲彰化退休警察，妻子於2年前過世育有一個兒子，兒子於台北工作兒子結婚有一個5歲小女孩平常喜歡與朋友爬山和下棋泡茶不太會使用科技產品心臟問題而開刀住院兒子因而請一名外籍看護

Personal Profile金龍是退休5年的地區警員妻子於2年前過世後都獨自一人生活每天早上喜歡與朋友早起爬山中午過後會到公園與朋友下棋泡茶周末時常希望兒子帶小孫女回家看看他但因為兒子工作忙碌且路程遙遠，所以也不強求

1年前因心臟問題開刀住院過2次兒子希望父親搬到台北來同住但覺得台北沒朋友且一切生活需重新適應便回絕兒子擔心他獨自一人生活上會有意外所以申請了一名外籍看護照顧生活起居１個禮拜前又因心臟問題送醫急救急救過後醫生建議進行開心手術置入心導管

平時起居與住院過程都由外籍看護照顧由於語言不太能溝通，幾乎都是比手畫腳的方式兒子幾乎都由外籍看護來得知父親病情

Concept/

The flip timetable of Taipei Main Station records the track of passengers of this city over 20 years, and the distinctive flip sound is a common reminiscence of the people.Although traditional flip timetable is uncompetitive with digital LED screen gradually, we still want to try to keep the reminiscent event of old technique and to merge it with contemporary technology.Our concept is to translate a digital LED pixel into a flip-board mechanism, such flip-board module represents as a pixel. Which includes 24 boards with different colors; therefore, there will have140 modules controlled by computer program to display a dot matrix clock image.

Sounds can be seen

Concept/ The blinds can see the world through hearing. Dolphins know their ways by sonic waves. Sounds can be seen via voiceprint, water dancing or media player effects. If sounds can be seen, then we can view the world with sounds. Experience the world other than hearing it. To alter the sound energy into physical reality. Under the pulses of the sound, to make water wave physically appeared and to reflect it by shadowing it with light. By the interaction of vision and hearing, to experience the sound with your heart under a relax mood.

Form/Water is the source of everything. To express the projection screen with a plant image. That represents the plant grows strong because of the water, and sounds make our lives better. To transfer the old image of gramophone into where the image forms on the projection screen. To metaphor the vision to the sound.

Concept/ The busy life nowadays make the breakfast time so rush and lack of quality, people needs to seize every second and minute even waiting for a baking toast. To put the toaster in a LOHAS style, users can notice the surplus time by hearing and vision, let waiting be another enjoyment in life. We can hang it on the wall, so it is not limited on the dining table. Slow food-- makes the waiting time more enjoyable. Put the toast into the machine, and pull the handle to let it fall inside, then start toaster and music timer at the same time. We can decide how we like our toast by the length of the line, and the speed of music reminds us the remaining time.

1_Use method2_There is a space for hook in the back, we can place the machine on the wall.3_The drawer below is easy to take out for cleaning.4_The handle can be put in the machine tightly.

Use/

Step 1 Step 2Hang it on the wall while not use.

Put the toast into the machine, and pull the handle to let it fall inside, then start toaster and music timer at the same time.

Step 3Decide how we like our toast by pulling the line. The music will play until waiting, and the speed of music remind us the left time.

Step 4When the toast is done, it will pop in the top. We can take it and eat directly.

Concept/ The current bouquet packing combines plastics and paper materials. After the bouquet is taken out. The packing will be throw away and causes environmental pollution.We can turn the bouquet packing into a basic vase by disassembling and folding it, so that we can avoid the trouble of finding a proper container for flowers. In addition, people can decorate their own house or office with flowers much easier, the consumption of flower would be increase.The material of Package Vase is paper, and has surface treatment by wax. It is not only water-proofed, but also can be recycled after use. Compare with the current bouquet packing, it won’t cause any environmental pollution.

Concept/

Started from the social issue, to criticize the idea to make female members in a family (a house keeping lady) to clean the house as their responsibility in chauvinism. To see the sweeper as the mace of the queen, to represent female privilege in a family, this privilege is the family issues about the labor job, it’s just like owing the mace of the queen when doing the house keeping jobs.

Labor sweeper and magnificent mace have represented the existing confliction. The magnificent mace represents the faith of unbreakable violation towards the issues that we expect from them.

Concept/ There seems to be gender equality in modern societies, but gender issue is still underneath many designs. To design from the female’s point of view, to have more products for females only and to speak up for them is the original intention of this project.The observation of a modern urban female pursuing for a perfect body shape and worrying about her weight as well as health has brought out the combination of body building equipments and house-cleaning tools together. Workout equipments will no longer be forgotten in storage rooms. Doing housework is doing exercise. From now on, doing housework has another purpose and meaning.
