The 2018 Stars On Ice Road Show will be arriving in Shaunavon next Monday, March 12.
Shaunavon was one of just four communities to host a Road show presentation, which will feature performances by some of the province’s best young skaters.
Twenty skaters from the pro-vincial figure skating team and development program - includ-ing 14 female and 6 male ath-letes - will be featured in Monday’s performance.
A number of local skaters have also been invited to take part in the show. The local contingent includes: Camryn Barton, Aline LeBastard, Paige Kutschall and Brooke Smith of the Shaunavon Silver Blades Skating Club; Madison Gleim and Ayva Lewis of the Eastend Skating Club; and Laura Anderson of the Frontier Skating Club.
Many of the local skaters, as well as Team Saskatchewan athletes, were in attendance at the provincial Jean Norman competition in Swift Current

over the weekend.“Having just seen some of
the high performance skaters at the Jean Norman competi-tion in Swift Current this past weekend, you can guarantee that it will be a high-energy show on Monday,” said Shaunavon Silver Blades president Linda Kutschall. “There are some very talent-ed skaters that will be coming to Shaunavon.”
While the evening show - which starts at 7 p.m. on March 12 - will serve as a highlight, it’s not the only activity on the schedule that day.
Each stop on the tour fea-tures a variety of events aimed at promoting the sport and skill development.
For instance, a provincial program coordinator or high performance director will conduct a group lesson with local skaters at the competi-tive and STARSkate level.
Team Saskatchewan mem-bers will also conduct a 45 minute CanSkate session with local skaters.
T h i r t y- o n e k i d s h a v e
registered for the CanSkate Session (4:30-5:15 p.m.) being put on by the Road Show Crew and 16 kids confirmed for the StarSkate session. (5:15 - 6 p.m.).
Skating participants in the sessions will include kids from Eastend, Frontier and Shaunavon.
The visit will include a total of about six hours of activity throughout the afternoon and evening, culminating with the skating show that night.
The event is being hosted by the Shaunavon Skating Club.
It’s believed this is the first time the Road Show has been held in Shaunavon.
