Your Travel Optionsto HarboursideHarbourside is a great place to work. To help you get here in a way that suits your lifestyle and meets your needs, have a second look at your travel options.
Could transit, carpooling, carsharing, cycling or walking be a part of how you commute?
Can you take one less car trip per week?
Pledge to reduce one car trip a week, and you could win a $250 MEC gift certificate. Visit travelsmart.ca, enter the promo code Harbourside for your chance to win. WIN
Printed on recycled paper
Explore your travel optionsTravelSmart and the City of North Vancouver have teamed up to help workers and visitors get to know their options in Harbourside.
As the Harbourside area continues to grow, and space becomes more precious, consider other ways of getting to and from the area. Modifying your commute, even if it’s one, two or five days a week can have benefits.
CycleCycling to work is a great way to get physical activity
If you’re within a bike ride away from work, make use of the local cycling facilities, including on-street lanes on Esplanade and 1st St., and the off-street paved paths of the Spirit Trail and Bewicke. When trying cycling for the first time, visit cyclevancouver.ubc.ca, and enter your start and finish address – it will show you the best route to take, including distance, elevation, estimated travel time, and number of calories you’ll burn along the way!
CarshareAll the benefits of car ownership, without the hassle
When you have left your car at home, but need one during the day, consider carsharing. With carsharing, you only pay when you use the vehicle, leaving repairs and insurance up to the service provider. You can choose between Zipcar, modo and car2go – each offer a slightly different service, so check out all three and decide which carshare option works best for you. Car2go are giving away a free membership + 60 minutes of driving time. Join TravelSmart and get the promo code in the TravelSmart members only section at travelsmart.ca.
CarpoolArriving at work by car is your best way to go? Consider sharing the ride
Save money, cut greenhouse gas emissions from your trips and maybe even save time using the HOV lanes. To help you find a carpool partner, visit ride-share.com to look for others arriving at Harbourside around the same time. Carpooling even a few days a week is a smart choice.
TransitTransit info on the go
Using satellite-tracking on buses, TransLink’s mobile website – m.translink.ca gives you real-time transit information* – that is, predicted arrival time based on its last reported location. Use it to find out when the next bus is coming, look up bus routes and bus stops, routings, or find the closest stop to your current location.
*real-time info not available on Blue Bus services, such as route 255.
For those with texting service, text the 5-digit bus stop number (the yellow number at the top of every bus stop) to 33333. You’ll receive an SMS listing when the next six buses are predicted to arrive at your stop.
For more transit information, visit translink.ca or call
604.953.3333
For specific Harbourside related transit information, turn over to refer to the routes outlined on map .

Taking transit is a great way to reduce commuting costs, and leave the driving to someone else.
The 231 leaves Lonsdale Quay, arriving at Harbourside
Drive in nine minutes. Service to Harbourside is every 17
minutes between 7:30 am and 8:30 am, and to Lonsdale
Quay every half an hour between 3:30pm and 5:30pm.
About a ten-minute walk away (900 metres) are much more
frequent transit services along Marine Drive. Once there,
routes 236, 239, 242 will take you directly to Lonsdale
Quay, to connect with the SeaBus to downtown Vancouver
and the rest of the region.
For residents of the North Shore, local services including
the 228 Lynn Valley, 229 Westlynn, 230 Upper Lonsdale,
246 Highland, 255 Capilano/Dundarave and others are
available from Lonsdale Quay. If you live in downtown
Vancouver you can take 240, 241, and 242 – jump ahead of
the queue and use the bus lane, arriving in 30 minutes.
And hey, if you are hankering to do the Grouse Grind after
work, routes 232 or 236 will get you there for a douse of
fun, healthy activity.

There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear.
If you plan to be walking, taking transit, or cycling, make sure you have rain gear with
you. The rain is just a small price we pay for being surrounded by lush green vegetation.
