Agriculture and Natural ResourcesWillie Clay is a successful cattle producer and entrepreneurwhose reliance on Extension assistance has allowed him tobecome more profitable and efficient. He began working withExtension to take his property out of the Conservation ReserveProgram and convert it for cattle production. Now, Willie workswith Extension agents and specialists to learn about the latestequipment, technology, and medicine to ensure his herd ishealthy and strong. His local agent is his go-to source for weedcontrol and forage selection, and Willie regularly attends localExtension field days.

Family and Consumer SciencesCassandra Tittle understands the importance of setting a goodexample with healthy habits. The high school teacher jumpedat the chance to start living healthier when her local Extensionagent recommended the faculty and staff at the school whereshe teaches participate in the Walk-A-Weigh fitness program,delivered by Extension. Cassandra completed the program andhas dropped almost 50 pounds, and she now cooks withhealthier ingredients and exercises more regularly. Also,Cassandra works with Extension to provide a teen Walk-A-Weigh program in the same health classes she teaches.

4-H Youth Development4-H State Council President John Mark Huff of Rankin Countysays his 4-H experiences are inspiring him to pursue a career insolving agricultural industry problems. Participating in livestockshowing, leadership opportunities, and shooting sports, JohnMark has received many opportunities to travel around thecountry, including to Colorado, Georgia, Wisconsin, andWashington, DC. He has received some of the highest honorsavailable to 4-H’ers. He is the current 4-H state president andhas served as a state ambassador, a national 4-H Congressdelegate, and a national dairy conference committee member.

Community Resource DevelopmentSince she was first elected Covington County taxassessor/collector in 2007, Cindy Aultman Sanford has reliedon Extension training and assistance in keeping records for alltaxable real estate and personal property, compiling thecounty’s tax digest, and receiving county residents’ taxes. Whenshe discovered that the state’s vehicle titling and registrationprogram was changing in 2017, she knew where to turn forassistance. Extension organized group and individual trainingsessions for Cindy’s staff, and the one-on-one training allowedthe county to transition smoothly into a new, digital system.
