WE’RE A

STEM AMBASSADOR

With you every step of the wayTaking learning beyond the classroom is widely known to help young people build strong, positive relationships and independence, as well as improving academic achievement. A school trip often brings a sense of experience and enjoyment to learning, supporting the wider character development and resilience students need to deal with life’s inevitable challenges.

At NST, we passionately believe in the importance of enriching educational experiences outside the classroom. That’s why you won’t find a wider choice of destinations, inspiring visits, educational guided tours, and hands-on workshops anywhere else. This year, we’ve also introduced our LIVE! student events led by industry professionals, giving students a bridge into the world beyond the classroom as they prepare to become work-ready.

When it comes to organising a school trip, we understand just how much time and energy it can take on top of teaching. What’s more, many schools are not aware that when they arrange transport, accommodation, and other services directly themselves, they’ll have all the responsibilities of a travel company - both legal and financial - under the new Package Travel & Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018.

That’s where NST can help. We’re an LOtC accredited provider, giving you peace of mind that all the elements of your trip have been carefully checked on your behalf - a view supported by the DfE’s recent recommendations on selecting a travel provider.

We’re the travel company of choice for over 35,000 group leaders, but we know that what counts is the help and support that you receive. That’s why we’re committed to doing our absolute best to provide you with the experience and support that you need to match your requirements and budget and create a school trip that your students will remember long after they return to the classroom.

CERN

There’s nothing quite like seeing physics in action to spark pupils’ interest in science. The world’s largest particle physics research laboratory will do just that, taking your pupils on a journey into science. Home to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), at CERN pupils will learn about this gigantic scientific instrument.

Guided ToursGroup guided tours of CERN follow a variety of themes (depending on the day/availability) and comprise of an introduction followed by a film and visits to experimental areas. All tours are guided by staff members involved with CERN. The duration of a tour is approximately 3 hours.

ExhibitionsGroups can extend their visit to permanent exhibitions which will be explored without an escort guide:

• Universe of Particles - a fascinating look at a famous international particle physics laboratory which explore science from the Big Bang to the present day.

• Microcosm - pupils will explore the world of CERN and discover technologies used by scientists.

Please note all guided tours and exhibition visits to CERN are free, must be booked directly with CERN and are subject to availability.

HISTORY OF SCIENCE MUSEUM

Housing a collection of scientific instruments, this museum allows pupils to put today’s science into perspective and better understand the evolution of certain disciplines and techniques such as astronomy, microscopy, gnomonic (the development of sundials and similar instruments), electricity and meteorology.

THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

This museum offers a fascinating insight into natural history and ecology using displays of life-size models. Features an overview of the history of Earth and the human race and geology of the Geneva region.

The Loire Valley is without doubt one of Europe’s most diverse regions in terms of its landscape, history, châteaux, vineyards and culinary traditions, with plenty of educational opportunities for your science pupils to enjoy. NST can tailor an itinerary that also includes Futuroscope, a truly unique educational theme park and a highlight for school groups visiting the region. The Aquarium du Val de Loire is also a popular visit for science groups where pupils can study the diversity of the Loire’s aquatic life and touch the fish in the 15m tactile pool.

The iconic Atomium monument is a fascinating hub for your pupils to visit, and a place where they’ll undoubtedly gain a greater understanding of science. Pupils can become astronauts for the day and study space exploration at the Euro Space Center, visit the largest dinosaur galley in Europe at the Museum of Natural Sciences or take a voyage of discovery through breath-taking images taken by space telescopes at the city’s Planetarium. We’ll tailor-make your itinerary to suit your group’s specific learning requirements, to include the best visits and attractions at great value for money.
