50% of Dublin’s residents

are under-25 years of age.

No wonder it’s such a

party town.

The entire city is

your campus

The city has over 120 miles

of cycle tracks and Dublin’s

Bike scheme has 450 bikes

for public use and 40 bike

stations around the city.

Dublin has a rich and thriving art scene.

Music is EVERYWHERE in Dublin, from unplanned

traditional musical sessions in pubs to some of the

biggest acts in the world in the city’s stadia.

Dublin’s rich

history can

be seen

on practically every

street, from the

Viking foundations

a thousand years

ago to the Rising

and the War of

Independence in the

early 1900s.

The city is alive

with young people

and students,

culture, music,

history, art, sport,

business, innovation

and academic

excellence. It’s an

incredible place in

which to study and

live.

The sidewalks and

alleys overflow

with Dubliners

and visitors

alike, colourfully

discussing art,

politics, business,

sport to the ever-

present backdrop of

music spilling from

foggy pub doors,

laughing, painting

in a lively, bubbly,

interesting city

that seem to have

been built for young

academia and fun.

It has an incredible

literary and

academic reputation

and is a thriving,

effervescent capital

with thousands

of traditional and

contemporary

pubs, restaurants,

clubs, museums,

galleries, sports

stadia, theatres,

music venues and

nightclubs.

And ideally located

is Independent

College Dublin,

on Dawson Street,

just one block

from the city’s

main thoroughfare,

Grafton Street. You

cannot get closer

to the heart of our

amazing city than

this.

great many choices for you.

Homestay

just outside the city centre but within an easy commute) on

a full-board basis.

Self-catering apartments

We have self-catering apartments in two fantastic locations

in the city. You can have your own en-suite room in a shared

apartment, a single occupancy studio apartment or twin/

double apartment.

Dublin was founded by the Vikings in 988.

10 million pints of Guinness are produced in Dublin

EVERY DAY.

Dublin boasts no less than FOUR Nobel Prize for

Literature – that’s more than any other city in the world

– William Butler Yeats, George Bernard Shaw, Samuel

Beckett and Seamus Heaney. However two of our most

famous writers were not winners: James Joyce and

Oscar Wilde.

Bram Stoker wrote Dracula here and the name comes

from the Irish words “Droch Ola” which means bad

blood.

Dublin has more gyms and sports clubs than almost

every other European city.

Dublin was designated a UNESCO City of Literature

in 2010 in “recognition of its cultural profile and

international standing as a city of literary excellence”.

It is one of four cities in the world with the UNESCO

City of Literature designation.

Dublin’s O’Connell Bridge near the college is the

only bridge in Europe that has the same width as

length.

Famous Hollywood actors from Dublin include

Maureen O’Hara, Brendan Gleeson, Gabriel Byrne

and Colin Farrell.

Dublin’s Phoenix Park is the largest walled park in

Europe and means you can feel lost in the countryside

just minutes from the college.
