    Greetings Everyone!

Welcome to this years rst Young Leaders for Indonesia Newsletter. Yes, this newsletter was

not the real rst for some of you alumni. Way back in 2011, the community had made an ef-

fort to create weekly newsletters in hopes to report the Communitys activity to its alumni. We

simply reinvigorated the legacy our predecessors had tried to build.

Here in the management, we everyone! often think about what it means to be a part of a

community and how it is best to leverage the unique quirks our member own to the fullest.

In YLI, we found there was no shortage of inspiring leadership stories and practice as our

members are driven individuals who care about their society. Here we have this one story of

our member who developed a snail-based food manufacturing business to teach farmers

how to reverse the pest ecosystem from their risk-center to income-generating goods, and

there we have another member who formed her own pro-bono consulting group to help

    SMEs better manage their business.

We felt the need to let other members know these stories, and feel the inspiration to catalyze

their own personal/professional growth. Hence, came our theme Connecting Inspiration,

Embracing Growth. This newsletter was created to channel this need in a compressed for-

    mat.

As our closing statement, we hope that in the future this newsletter will evolve in as the form

of connecting between our members evolve. Connecting not only to build rapport or rela-

tionship but to join or unite in an effort to create something bigger together. In practice, we

realize that this factor is what differentiates a thriving and a merely surviving community.

AAlongside many new programs developed by the YLI Community, this years highlight

was also marked by the declaration of Community of Change from the YLI Founda-

    tion.

A brief background regarding this initiative: as the YLI program reached its 5 years

milestone, many of its graduates were dispersed throughout the country, individually

driving small changes in dierent topics and region as part or outside of the work they were doing.

YLI Foundation was aware of this fact, and felt that much more change could be made if there was a

platform that could connect the graduates to collectively work together.

Community of Change was built with the spirit of driving bigger changes in the nations most critical

issue together as a community. During the YLI Annual Conference, the young leaders were grouped

with one of the severalnations leading gure that were willing to commit and mentor them on a key

topic chosen, and generate an idea to drive change together. Now, two month following the decla-

ration, we would like to share the ideas launched by these young leaders and the progress that had

Indonesia has a plentiful supply of acces-sible energy sources, both from fossil fuelsand renewables; however we are strugglingto keep up with the energy demands. Ener-gy demand has been increasing faster thaneconomic development and populationgrowth where transportation and electricity isthe major usage of energy.
