We would like you to sign up and share in the fun and great skiing now. There are some great activities coming up. Be sure to sign up for the Scripps Oceanography tour or the ethnic dining at Saigon on Fifth or the bus trip to the Getty Villa or the Pops Concert (April 1st cutoff date). Make the most out of wonderful events. Let’s keep working to make our ski club the best possible by volunteering. There are four spots left on the African Safari Serengeti Council trip (8/18/14 - 9/1/14) for one single man, one single woman and one couple. This trip is being booked through Overseas Adventure Travel 1-800-955-1925. The reservation code G4-24570 is reserved for this San Diego Council adventure. The cost is $5,685 including international airfare from San Diego. Trip leader and contact person is Eileen Sanford [email protected] or 858-695-1442 for further information. Let her know if you’re interested in the pre and post trip options. FWSA has added a trip to South Africa (September 7-17, 2014) which covers a different area in Africa than the Council African trip in August. Prices start at $2,915 with an extension to Victoria Falls. You can sign up and pay on-line at fwsa.org. San Diego will again be offering a ski trip to Aspen, December 10 – 16, 2014. Send your $100 deposit to hold your spot to Mike Sanford, 1760 Caminito Prenticia, San Diego, CA 92131. The FWSA ski week will be Whistler/Blackcomb January 31-February 7, 2015. The FWSA 2015 International ski trip will be in March, 2015 to Val d’lsere, France with a post trip to Provence. Always see fwsa.org for more details. If you’re interested in holding a position on the San Diego Council Board, elections will be held at their next board meeting, April 2 at 6 PM. All positions will be voted on: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, travel director and council representative. LECTURES BEGINAT 10:30 AM and will occur in the Heikoff Dome Theater. Lecture admission is $8.00. Tickets are required to attend the lecture and can be requested at the Ticket Counter. LECTURE-10:30 AM (10,000 Years: The Archaeological History of San Diego) IMAX FILM-12:00 PM (Mummies).

The bus is rolling again. Join us for a one day bus trip to L.A. First we will go to the San Antonio Winery in the heart of Los Angeles for a free tour and wine tasting. We will have lunch on our own at the Winery. Next we will depart for the beautiful Getty Villa in Malibu which is the original Getty Museum. The estate is perched on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The architecture is a replica of an ancient Roman Villa buried by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. You will have the afternoon to enjoy the museum before we head home. We will have a University City and North County pick up. This tour will include the wine tasting and tour, entrance to the Villa, transportation on a large bus with a bathroom, snacks and lots of fun. Send your check made out to TPSC and mail to:

We will meet at the Visitor Center at Mission Trails Park, Father Junipero Serra Trail, SD 92119, 619-668-3281. This will be a one hour guided walk with a Park Ranger. No steep inclines expected but possibly some hiking type terrain so wear comfortable shoes. No RSVP necessary just mark your calendar to make this event. See you there.

This month - a new location. CHAMPION FIELD, located at 10492 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. in Tierrasanta. The 4:00 PM start means it is possible to avoid the traffic (is that ever possible?) This is a large place with an enclosed patio or plenty of indoor seating if you so choose.

Happy Hour prices on wine, beer and appetizers. There is plenty of free parking. It is easy to locate. Call me if you have any questions, 858-336-8396. As always, bring along a friend, new or old.

Join us at 2:00 PM Sunday for an afternoon of Bocce Ball and socializing at Shelter Island. We will be in the grassy area across from the Kona Kai Resort near the far end of the island. Novice players are welcome. Bring a Chair, drinks and a snack (if you like) and bocce balls if you have a set. Spectators are

welcome. RAIN (or no one showing by 2:15 PM) CANCELS.

We will have a free private tour of the La Jolla Map and Atlas Museum, 7825 Fay Ave, Suite LL-A (in Courtyard), 855-653-6277. The museum pieces were donated by a private collector and house a collection of old maps including many of California. The museum is located in the lower courtyard of the Merrill Lynch Building on Fay Ave. Check out the website: mamlj.org. Afterward we will gather for an optional lunch.
