My experiences with Textiles UsethespacebelowtorecordwhatexperiencesyouhavesofarwithTextiles,includinganytextilesworkathome.Forexample,sewing,knitting,embroidery,watchingothersetc;________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Finding out about fabrics Fabricisawordthatdescribesthematerialweusetomakeclothes.Itisalsousedforthingslikecurtainsandfurniturecoverings,andforcarpetsandrugs.Itisevenusedformoreunusualthingslikeastro-turf,syntheticwigs,parachutes,carseatbelts,tyres,artificialbloodvesselsanddrainagesolutionsintheconstructionsindustry.Fromthemomentyouwokeupthismorningyouhavebeenincontactwithfabrics.

Makealistofthedifferenttypesoffabricsyouhavetouchedorusedtoday.Youmayusetheinternettofindoutwhatfabricsareusedtomakecertainitems.

Lookatyourlistcarefully.Didallthefabricslookorfeelthesame?Youwillprobablyhavenoticedthatthefabricsaredifferentbecausetheyareneededfordifferentpurposes.Fabricshavetobesuitablefordifferentjobsandtheyhavedifferentproperties.

Safety in the Textiles Room Nobodywantstohaveanaccident.Mostaccidentsarecausedbypeoplewhoarenotconcentratingonwhattheyaredoing.Toprotectyourselfandothers,learnandfollowthesesafetyinstructions.

1. Neveroperateamachinewhentheteacherisoutoftheroom.

2. Reportanyslightaccidentimmediatelytotheteacher.

3. Keepallworkingareasclean,particularlythefloor,sothatnoonewillslipandfall.Threadsandpinsareslipperyonthefloor.

4. Alwaysbeprincipledandbalanced.Accidentsoccurmostoftenwhenpeoplefoolaround,orarenotpayingattentiontowhattheyaredoing.

5. Wheninsertingaplugintothesocket,holdtheplugwithouttouchingtheprongs.

6. Whendisconnectingaplug,holdtheplug.Neverpullonthecord.Youcoulddamagethewireconnectionsandgiveyourselfanelectricalshock.

7. Donotdanglethefootpedalbythecord.Thiswilldamagethecordsinside.

8. Nevertouchaplugorsocketwithwethands.Waterconductselectricity.

9. Unplugironsfromtheelectricitysupplyafteruseandwrapthecordsloosely.Donotwraptightlyasitmaydamageconnections.Ironsmustbecoldwhenputaway.

10. Totestthetemperatureoftheiron–placeironfacedownonironingboardforafewseconds.Iftheironingboardareabecomeshot,thentheironisreadytouse.

11. Ironsshouldneverbeleftfacedownontheironingboard,evenifturnedoff.Itcouldstartafire.

12. Takecareofyourfingerswhenyouareironingtoavoidgettingburnsfromtheironorscaldsfromthesteam.
