This is the time of year were we pause and take stock of our lives. So too, as an organization, all of us at YAD have taken a moment to reflect on what has been and what still lies ahead. There is much to celebrate. From the amazing launch at Vaudeville, the Jeremy Gardner Breakfast and Ringing for Rands to the Golf Day, which will soon be upon us, YAD continues to go strong and grow. We have seen so many members of this community give so generously of themselves to ensure that others, in most instances complete strangers, are cared for and nurtured. We indeed have a great deal to celebrate.Above all else, we are most appreciative of the personal relationships we have forged with so many of the young adults in our community. YAD is only as successful as the sum of its parts – it relies on the participation and support of every Young Jewish Adult and it has been our pleasure to engage community members in this noble cause.
YADs mandate, simply, is to raise awareness of the United Jewish Campaign, which works to raise funds to ensure that the Jewish organizations of Cape Town are able to fulfill their respective missions. Whether that mission is educating the youth, caring for the differently abled, or advocating for the Jewish community at government level the United Jewish Campaign works to provide material support.This is a team objective and one that we look forward to working with you to achieve.We take this opportunity, to extend to one and all our heartfelt wishes to you and your families for a Happy New Year which is overflowing with Hashem’s richest blessings.May it be sweet, healthy, prosperous, innovative, fulfilling, abundant, creative and delightful. And, may it be a year where we continue to partner for the betterment of our community.

On Sunday 22 August 2010, the United Jewish Campaign of Cape Town embarked on a special campaign called
Ringing for Rands. The project was designed to make contact with as many homes as possible to ask them to contribute towards the meals of those
in need within our community.
Thanks to the participation and commitment of forty-three volunteers and the generosity of the Jewish
Community of Cape Town, generous grants have been made to Astra Centre, Glendale, Highlands House, Jewish Community Services,
Jewish Seniors Association, Kosher Meals on Wheels and Oranjia.
These grants will greatly impact the
lives of members of our community and we take this opportunity to thank both our volunteers and supporters.
Ensuring Holiday Meals for All
RINGING FOR RANDS
Harris Burman of Highlands
House receives an allocation which will be used to enhance the Rosh Hashanah experience for senior citizens.
Jean Mausenbaum receives support granted to Oranjia’s children.
Anne Marx and Annette Marks receive a cheque which will supplement the food grants given to those in need in our community.
