There is no up-front discount given by Xavier for families with more than one student. The tuition assistance process takes into consideration families who have more than one student at Xavier. Therefore, families with more than one student at Xavier who need assistance should apply. Does Xavier have a work program? Xavier High School does not sponsor any work-related programs for the payment of tuition due to lack of resources needed to administer a work program. A successful work program requires staff members who can supervise the students and/or parents who want to work to reduce their tuition. Does Xavier offer athletic, academic, or fine arts scholarships? No. By state statutes, Iowa high schools cannot offer these types of programs. Can I deduct tuition as a charitable donation? Tuition does not qualify as a charitable donation because your student receives a service in return for the tuition. Contributions given to either Xavier High School or the Xavier Foundation other than tuition are eligible for deduction as a charitable donation. What if my family experiences financial difficulties during the year? If at any time your family experiences financial difficulties, please contact the Controller, Shea McDermott Francis at (319) 294-6635 x307. All conversations will be kept strictly confidential. Tuition covers all academic fees associated with Xavier. Students may incur additional fees for co-curricular activities and elective materials. The cost to educate a student is determined each year as the budget is set. Parish subsidies provide tuition support for students belonging to any of Xavier’s 12 supporting parishes.

E X A M P L E SIf you qualify for STO assistance, you will always qualify for Xavier assistance. If your family includes you, your spouse and 3 children and your qualifying income is $70,000, you would qualify for both STO and Xavier assistance. If you do not qualify for STO assistance, you may still qualify for Xavier assistance. If your family includes you, your spouse, and 3 children and your qualifying income is $100,000 you would not qualify for STO assistance but you may still qualify for Xavier assistance.

L E V E L S O F A S S I S TA N C E Assistance awards range from $100 to full tuition. All awards are grants and do not need to be repaid at any time. The exact amount of assistance awarded will depend on the funds available and the demonstrated need of all applicants.

Both tuition assistance programs utilize Private School Aid Services (PSAS) to assist in determining the level of assistance to be awarded. Your personal information will be held in strictest confidence at all times. If you have a child at more than one Archdiocesan School or if you wish to apply for both types of assistance, you will only need to complete one application form.
