University of Business in Wroclaw is a prestigiousprivate business school committed to educating futureleaders.

University of Business offers its candidates six BA thematic modules (Tourism and Leisure, Management,European Studies, Information Technology, Economics,Internal Security) and two MA modules (Tourism andLeisure, Management), post-graduate courses and MBA 

in English.The university was established in 1997 as one of the

rst private schools in Wroclaw. Today over 4000 stu-dents attend its courses every year, including over 100Erasmus exchange students from all over Europe.

The university’s mission is and has always been „Toeducate for the International Business, with links to prac-tice”. Following on from that statement, our study pro-gramme puts special focus on foreign languages andlectures in English. University of Business students are al-ways ready to participate in exchanges, to study abroadwithin the Erasmus programme, to do work placementand internship in international companies.

University of Business is the best business school inthe Lower Silesia, which is conrmed by recent educa-tional rankings. The university is proud to be the mostinternational school in the region. University of Businesshosts the greatest number of international students ev-ery year, mainly because of the professional study pro-gramme in English developed especially for Erasmusstudents. Tourism and Management, Business and Man-

agement, European Studies are thematic modules of-fered in English, consisting of several dozens of lectures,classes and workshops for international students. AlsoPolish students take part in these activities to integratewith their international scholars and introduce them intothe charms of local student life.

The international programme target group are:• under- and post-graduate students of different cultural

and educational backgrounds who wish to gain a con-temporary and forward-looking perspective on theirstudies and/or prepare their thesis and/or carry outresearch work within the subjects covered by the inter-national programme modules.

The main characteristics of the programme:

• exibility – the programme offers a collection of aca-demic courses taught within different thematic mod-ules, research projects and professional contacts. It isdesigned to enable students of diverse cultural andeducational backgrounds to acquire and better theircompetences ranging from capacity to work in mul-ticultural teams for managing development projects,through capacity to manage an individual business, toanalyze situation in international markets, with specialfocus on tourism market. Teaching methods includemostly simulations, games, case studies, and interac-tive training

• system approach – the socio-economic phenomena

are discussed within the framework of a complex sys-tem made up of the whole-part and local/micro-glob-al/macro interconnections. The programme drawson the recent results and modern methods of severalsocio-economic sciences

• links with practice – the international programme re-ects the realities through the close links with practiceworld. The series of academic courses is followed by a practical training module, and our faculty includesnumerous managers from the business world.The international programme is especially designed tomake students acquainted with the pragmatic applica-tion of knowledge gained in classrooms. Study tours,

internships, and participation of professionals in theprogramme activities serve the purpose

• forward looking – learning and teaching activitiesare designed to echo up-to-date socio-economic phe-nomena. The programme covers contemporary issuesand the latest world trends in socio-economic environ-ment. It gives students feedback and skills to success-

fully manage their further research and prospectiveprofessional tasks.

On the programme completion the international stu-dents are technically competent to:• communicate effectively in international environment• carry out problem-solving• undertake critical analyses• conduct further research

within the chosen areas of international studies, interna-tional students receive:

• the University of Business Certicates of Participationin International Studies Programme (in line with thePolish Ministry of Education regulations) that provetheir participation in the chosen international aca-demic courses

• the International Transcripts of Records that verify theircompetencies gained in the particular elds of studies(assessed with the ECTS grades and credits)

• the Internship Certicate and Assessment Form issuedby the receiving (practice world) organization.

The programme gives opportunities for analysis of anumber of socio-economic phenomena in a range ofdifferent contexts – economic, social, environmental,these being enriched with a variety of business as well asmanagement and marketing techniques and principles.

The programme embraces four thematic modulescomprising the series of academic courses. Each modulecovers a range of complementary subjects. Students – ir-respective of their educational background - may choosethe courses they wish to attend within all modules.

Please note that courses in particular subjects will beconducted only if the number of applicants is sufcient,therefore it is wise to choose more than three of them.

 

I. General and language module – comprises arange of language courses, cultural programme (in-cluding study tours), adaptation week and PE (sport).

Language training is designed to develop the stu-dents’ oral and written competencies within English,German with focus on their usage for professional pur-poses. It also offers the opportunity to acquire funda-mental language competencies within Polish language,enriched with knowledge of various aspects related toPolish history and culture.

Physical education (sport) helps the students to de-velop their health and tness along with their intellectualpotential.

Cultural programme, including two study tours, isdesigned to provide international students from differentcultural backgrounds with comprehensive knowledge

about the history, culture and present life of Wroclaw,Lower Silesia region, and Poland.

The rst tour is designed to make the students ac-quainted with Wroclaw – the capital city of the LowerSilesia region of Poland – and its surrounding area. Theother study tour is designed to enable the studentsto visit numerous historical and natural monuments inLower Silesia, many of them in the mountain area (theSudeten Mountains).

II. Tourism and Tourism Management module –covers the following courses: Tourism Principles and

Practice, Tourism in Eastern and Central Europe, Or-ganization of Events in Tourism, Tourism Industry inPoland.

The module is designed to equip students with theo-retical knowledge and deepen their understandingof tourism as a particular system phenomena. It ap-proaches tourism from the natural, socio-cultural andeconomic points of view.

The courses taught in this module enhance the com-prehension of interconnections occurring between differ-ent aspects of tourism theory and practice. Studentsexplore tourism products, destinations, and services, to-

gether with methods and techniques of their marketingand processes of management strategies. The manage-

rial aspects of tourism facilitate their understanding ofhow organizations in tourism sector operate, how touristevents are organized, and how development projects intourism are successfully managed.

III. Business and Management module – com-prises courses focusing on various aspects of businessand management: International Marketing, Aspectesof Management, International Project Management,Finance and Accounting, Controlling, Cross – CulturalCommunication, International Business Law.

In preparing prospective managers to adapt to thechanging world and to develop a vision for their orga-nization, this module provides a foundation in businessand management studies, and key elements of modernmanagement.

The courses introduce concepts, issues and methods

that aim to develop a critical approach to managementin organizations. Students will be exposed to core ideas inmanagement thinking, to economic principles and toolsto analyze organizations in multi-level relationships withtheir environments. Students also become familiar withsome core processes of management, such as planning,organizing and changing, leading and controlling.

IV. European Studies module – comprises coursesfocusing on various aspects of European Policy: Re-gionalism and Federalism in EU, European DefensePolicy, Insurance Market, Crisis Communication, Stra-

tegic Negotation in Business.

European Studies students will achieve the knowl-edge about the functioning of United Europe, they willknow its history, political and economic geography, po-litical and legal systems. Students will be able to un-derstand social processes, cultural differences and simi-larities, traditions and life styles. Student will learn aboutstructures of the European Union, its nancial systemsand administration as well as the conditions required tomanage a business on a European scale.
