NEWS FROM AND FOR THE CONGREGATIONWhat A Month We Had!

And More Still To Come All Summer!

--What a great time we all had at this year's Luau and Silent Auction! Thanks asalways to the Tauati's for all the food and dancing-the best ever. We had about 175people present who enjoyed the fun and great weather! Thanks to everyone who put intheir time and energy and devotion to make this such a success! And, the Silent Auctionhad a record 71 items that you all donated-an incredible variety of interesting things thatyou gave/made/offered! A total of $1,801 was raised through the Auction for the church.

In addition to all the items you gave personally, we want to acknowledge thosebusinesses who generously made donations for the auction: Black Diamond Compost;Craig's Carpet Cleaning; Dawson Taylor Coffee; EI-J Plumbing; Pier 49 Pizza; and AtzaPizza.

--Centennial Sunday, June 27, saw a wonderful outpouring of love and memory aswe celebrated all who were married at our church or married elsewhere by one of our pastministers. Almost 20 couples were recognized and honored. Special mention should bemade of one couple in particular: Agnes and Jerry Schwarzhoff were married on July 3,1938, by Rev. L.G. Knight-and they celebrate their 72nd Anniversary this week!

--Don't miss our next major Centennial event, Sunday, July 11: We welcome homeand honor all our former ministers: Stacy Richards (1966-72), Jim Nolan (1973-84), andTed and Susan Huffman (1985-95). I am extremely humbled to stand in this line of thesefine people. Come and be with them, not only during worship, but for the potluck dinnerfollowing, during which each of them will share with us their memories of their time atWright and tell of their lives and ministries since. One sad note: We just received wordlast week that Rev. Wim Meyer (1961-65) passed away at age 95 at a Care Center inCalifornia. Our love and prayers to his family.

--Joy Chapman continues her rehab at Life Care of Valley View following herrecent heart attack. Also, Mary Lu Harder is in the same facility rehabbing from a recentfall which fractured a knee cap. Love to both of them.

--So glad to note that Nettie Adkins is home and doing very well following herextensive back surgery. Know that we are thinking of you.

--Tom Eubanks continues slow and steady recovery from his recent heart valvesurgery. You and your family are in our prayers.

--Kathy Smith will undergo lower back surgery this week (July 1) at St. AI'sHospital. We wish you complete success and a fast recovery.

--Congratulations to Trevor Wallace (Dolores Wallace's grandson) and SamanathaDavis upon their upcoming wedding on August 21! See their invitation in this issue.

(NEWS CONTINUED)

--We owe Property Chairs Dale Shoemaker and Frank Capshaw some extra-specialthanks for all the work they had to do around the church this last month: First, our UnitedWater Bill came and showed 10 times the normal usage of water! A leak was found (noeasy task), and we had a big crew of men start digging, including Dale, Frank, WillPatterson, Jim Morrow, Larry Gillmore, and others. Plumber called, leak permanentlyfixed, and hole refilled!

--If that wasn't enough frustration, almost immediately, kitchen drains becamecompletely plugged. Again, Frank and Dale rode to the rescue, and got us flowing again.

--Thinking they were ready for a vacation, the next day major leaks were discoveredin our sprinkler system lines! Again these two dug and dug and dug through rocks anddirt and tree roots, replaced many feet of water lines, and got us up and running again.(Finally, we're able to really pour the water on our somewhat beleaguered-looking Iawn.)

--AND THEN ..•If you thought the sanctuary was a little hot last Sunday, that'sbecause it was! The Air Conditioner compressor wouldn't work! Thankfully, our regularHeat and AC Service Company was able to do a relatively minor repair, and we should becoolon the 4th of July and beyond. Take a well-deserved break, guys!

--While Tami and I are on vacation from July 14-August 3, I hope you will all bepresent each Sunday for worship to hear and be inspired by a very special lineup of guestspeakers.

--On Sunday, July 18, our own Carl Van Slyke will be the Worship Leader andGuest Speaker. Carl has been such a wonderful addition to our congregation! He is a manof great devotion and a terrific speaker.

--On Sunday, July 25, Rev. George Gunn, will bring the morning message. Our JimMorrow will be the Worship Leader. George is a longtime UCC Minister and is currentlya member of the Board of the Central Pacific Conference.

--And on Sunday, August 1, our beloved Dr. Jo Elliott-Blakeslee will be the WorshipLeader and Guest Speaker, with assistance from several of our Deacons. Dr. Jo always hassuch warm and powerful messages, and you won't want to miss it!

--Here are some of the other Centennial Events still to come: Sunday, Aug~st 15, anextra special Christmas In August; The weekend of September 18 & 19, we invite all whowere baptized at Wright, attended Sunday School or Youth Groups here to be with us onthat Sunday-Plus a special reunion of PF'ers from the 50's and 60's on Saturday levening,September 18. - We host the Annual Idaho Association of the UCC on Friday, September24 and Saturday, September 25.-And then, the Culmination Celebration on lOIlOto!

--Join me and our Deacons in remembering and praying for some other of our dearfriends in Christ who are mostly homebound: Lillian Brandt, Ethel Voorhees, rirginiaScholl, Alice Spielman, Lois McCurdy, Doris Evans, Gladys Eller, Sammy Musselman.Give them a call or send a card or make a visit-that will be a great gift to them! Notes From The Board

As we approach the 4th of July, we salute those who havesacrificed to protect our freedom. We thank God for our brave menand women, throughout the ages, who have served so we may befree. Mary Jo Presley opened our meeting reminding us of our debtsto our service men and women. Thanking God they have won thefreedom that we may worship freely, we conducted the business ofthe Church.

We had a wonderful time at the Luau. Once again thank you tothe Tauati's and their friends for putting on a fine evening. The foodwas excellent, the entertainment was exciting, and it was fun to seeall the members and friends of Wright who attended.

Thank you the property committee for all the behind thescenes work you do to keep our building in good repair. Fromchanging out lights, to fixing plumbing, landscaping, and a thousandother projects we thank you, with out your service we would nothave the safe and clean building which we all enjoy.

Summer has finally arrived. Run, play, and enjoy the summer. Please make some time to join us in worship. Each of us adds to thestrength of our Church, and we are all needed in our on way.

100 years of Wright. We have enjoyed the activities' plannedby our committee, and look forward to future events.

We give thanks to God for the freedoms we are allowed toenjoy.
