Reports and Meetings
Notes from the Board Give thanks to the Lord! For the gifts you have received, give thanks to the Lord. For the gift of life, for the gift of family, for the gift of friends, give thanks to the Lord. In everything, give thanks to the Lord. In this time of Thanksgiving, we thank the Lord for our abundance.
Giving thanks to the Lord for the gift of our Church, we conducted the business of our Church.
Thank you to all who have pledged for next year. Your pledge is very much appreciated. If you have not yet submitted a pledge, please consider doing so. Your pledge greatly helps in our budgeting process.
Thank you to all who have agreed to chair committees for next year. Without your leadership we could not continue the activities of the Church. There are positions available on each committee and volunteers are needed to fill these positions.
Thank you to all who attended our November congregational meeting. We want your input as we prepare our budget for next year. We anticipate it will be very challenging to balance next year’s budget.
With your support, our youth group was able to contribute 6 thanksgiving boxes to the community as part of their hunger project. Our group thanks the Church.
Respectfully submitted, Will Patterson, Board Chair
Search Committee Update Your Search Committee has been busy the past month, meeting weekly. You might ask “what are we doing?” We are still receiving profiles of pastors who have an interest in coming to Wright Church. At the same time we have been reviewing profiles, pondering what they tell us, and we have even listened to some sermons from candidates.
We have received profiles from 14 pastors from across the country. We have prayerfully considered each one. We have received and listened to sermons from five of these. In the next two weeks we plan to interview five of these candidates using Skype or the telephone. We will follow up with face to face interviews with finalists. We are enthusiastic about the possibilities.
We continue to ask that you keep the Search Committee in your prayers..
Carl Van Slyke, Chairperson

Church Missions
Christmas Fund Offering We Have Come To Bear the Light of Christ
The annual Christmas Fund Offering provides financial aid to retired and active ministers and their surviving spouses and children who face overwhelming financial demands. It is a ministry carried out by the UCC Pension Boards.
The funds are used for:
Christmas thank you checks to 500 retired UCC clergy/lay church employees.
Monthly pension supplementation for 395 lower-income retired UCC clergy/lay employees.
Quarterly health premium supplements for 228 lower-income retired UCC clergy/lay employees.
Emergency grants for 45 active or retired UCC clergy/lay employees.
Last year our sister church in Pocatello was in the top 13 churches nationally for per capita giving! Their gifts averaged from $25 to $55 per member. That is an amazing accomplishment for a struggling church and gives us an idea of what we can do.
We will receive the offering on Sunday, Dec 22.
Youth Group Food Drive a Huge Success Our Youth Group had a huge success with their food drive for the St Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes. They collected enough to contribute six complete boxes and an additional $140 to help with other expenses. On Sunday, Nov 24, they slipped out of worship and delivered the boxes and cash to St Vincent. By the time you read this, the dinner boxes will have been distributed to families in need and they will be enjoying a more thankful Thanksgiving.
The Youth Group (Hayley Andrews, Dakota Hunt, John Shockley, and Michael Trammell) says 'thank you' to the congregation and we say 'thank you' to them for helping us help others in this season of thanks.
Bench Supper Takes a Break There will be no Bench Community Supper in December. Please contact Julie Patterson if you are interested in helping with next year's suppers.

Christmas SMiGHT Tree
What is a SMiGHT Tree? It is a tree that is decorated with scarves, mittens, gloves, hats, and toiletries for men, women, and children.
Where is the SMiGHT Tree? At the back of the sanctuary.
How can I help decorate the SMiGHT Tree? Take an ornament (in the shape of a scarf, mitten, glove, hat, or toiletry; purchase the product; bring the SMiGHT back (unwrapped) and hang it on the tree.
When should I get my SMiGHTs back to the church? Anytime between now and Sunday, December 22.
Who will benefit from our SMiGHT Tree? The Mission and Outreach Committee is checking out where the need is greatest and consulting with the Women's and Children's Alliance and Interfaith Sanctuary.
