First Available ring - Judge: Ms Caz Horton (Gertlush)Junior Handling Assoc A . 6 – 11 years B 12 – 16 yearsThe above classes are qualifying classes (1st to 3rd) for the JHA semi-finals 2016/17 to be held at various Ch shows according to Group (please see JHA website for latest details). JHA Diplomas will be awarded for handlers placed 1st to 3rd in each age group The Name and Age of the Handler must be clearly stated on the entry form.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES

In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that countstowards the title of Champion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by theKennel Club. Wins at Championship shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificatesare not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows. In the case of a dog owned inpartnership and entered in Members' classes or competing for Members' Specials eachpartner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society. In estimating the number ofawards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing ofpostal entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. 17 th October 2016. Wins inVariety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering in Variety classes,wins in both Breed and Variety classes must be counted. First prize does not include aSpecial Prize of whatever value. A dog is not eligible for entry in Variety Classes unless alsoentered and subsequently exhibited in a Breed class where such a class is provided forwhich it is eligible. Exemptions from this Regulation are:- - From 1st January 2015, and for aperiod of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must beentered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Classhave been suspended. (1) A puppy, unless a class for dogs under twelve months of age forwhich it is eligible is provided for the breed. (2) A dog in Any Variety Veteran Class. (3) Adog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of the appointment of

an emergency judge. (4) Exhibits bred by the schedule breed Judge. If an exhibitor reportsbefore the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, theexhibitor may choose one of the following options:- (1) Withdrawal The dog may bewithdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20. (2)Transfer a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed colour, sex, weightor height the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for thecorrect breed, colour, sex, weight or height and, in the event of there being no equivalentclass, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to the Open class for the correct breed, colour,sex, weight or height. b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy Class, PuppyClass or Junior Class, which is over age but under twelve calendar months of age, eighteencalendar months of age or twenty-four calendar months of age respectively, the ShowSecretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy Class, Junior Class or Yearling Classrespectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of therebeing no Puppy, Junior or Yearling Class to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex,weight or height. c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transferit to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height. d) If an exhibitarrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, thedog may not be transferred to any other class.MINOR PUPPY for dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the firstday of the show. PUPPY for dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months on the first day of theshow. JUNIOR for dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first dayof the show. GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more FirstPrizes at Championship Shows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limitand Open classes, whether restricted or not where Challenge Certificates were offered forthe breed.POST GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more FirstPrizes at Championship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.OPEN For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at theshow.VETERAN For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the show.

RULES & REGULATIONS1. The Show will open at 9.00 a.m.2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure that

exhibits are available for judging when required. 3. Judging will commence at 10.00 a.m. with Sporting Breeds and Non Sporting breeds

will be judged after 12 noon.4. Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. The

Show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed.5. The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is

forbidden except as authorised by the Show Management. 6. Entry Fees: First Entry £4.00 per dog, subsequent entries 50p with the same dog. Not

for competition dogs £1.50 per dog. Membership Fees £2.50 single, £3.00 joint..Catalogues £3 with entries (£3.50 on the day limited number)

7. Prize money on offer at this show is in Stakes Classes 1st £5, 2nd £3, 3rd £2 4th £1 8. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries. 9. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the show are not eligible

for exhibition. 10. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the show is forbidden.11. Best Puppy in Show. From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel

Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in abreed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that onlyunbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions aresuspended. Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy inShow is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited atthe same show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months ofage on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best inShow is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy inGroup and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed,Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beatenby an adult dog it will also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Groupand Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed,Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best ofBreed, Best in Group and Best in Show respectively. a. Show Judged on the GroupSystem- (1) Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected frompuppies which have been judged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy. (2) BestPuppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners provided theyare unbeaten by any other puppy. b. Withdrawal from Competition Puppies whichbecome eligible for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show maybe withdrawnfrom all other competition, other than Breed Classes and Best Puppy in Breed, prior tothe competition for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show in order to remainunbeaten. A puppy beaten in competition for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy inShow may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previouslyeligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in anysubsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety (AV)Classeswhen judged before Breed Classes. c. Proviso For the purpose of this Regulation, dogsbeaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a SpecialAward confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beaten dog

12. Best in Show . From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel ClubShow Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breedclass before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogsare eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by anyother dog exhibited at the same Show. a. Shows Judged on the Group System(Definition; Shows judged on the Group System includes classes for breeds within morethan one group, as defined in Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and require a judge todeclare a best of each group after which the exhibits so declared will compete for theaward of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show.) 1) Best of Breed Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declaredbut only from those dogs which have received a first prize in a breed class at the showWhere separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must bedeclared. 2) Best of Group From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel ClubShow Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breedclass before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogsare eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.Best of group and subsequent placings must be selected from:- a) The Best of Breed

winners in each group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs. b) The bestunbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in eachgroup or on each day. 3) Best in Show From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel ClubShow Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breedclass before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogsare eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they areunbeaten. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winnersfollowing the selection for Best in Show. Withdrawal from other Competition Dogs which become eligible for Best of Group andBest in Show maybe withdrawn from all other competition other than breed classesand Best of Breed prior to the competition for Best of Group or Best In Show asappropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best inGroup or Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which itwas previously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Showhowever, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Dogs may be withdrawnfrom AV Classes when judged before Breed Classes. Proviso For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog,Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed,will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in show competition after a period of ten minuteshas elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless thathave been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, andthen only with the special permission of the show management.

14. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is notacceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handlingand reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club ShowRegulation F11.

15. It is not acceptable to handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch theground when on the move. Exhibitors should note that such practices could constituteharsh handling and reports of suchpractice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

16. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations forthe Preparation of Dogs for exhibition.

17. All dogs resident outside the U.K. must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority toCompete Number before entry to the show can be made. All overseas entries withoutan Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor.

18. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather andthe Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s anddon’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route tothe show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in trafficjams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the showis a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should betaken, with lots of water available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowingair around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.

• Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade for example a large umbrella andalways have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposedsunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likelyto feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please lookafter your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLEENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGECAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take allreasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put adog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach ofKennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee fordisciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Right to Refuse Entries.Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under KennelClub Regulation to refuse any entry.

19. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must berecorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered

20. No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the GeneralCommittee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the CaninePress wherever possible.

21. The Committee of this show cannot be held responsible for products advertised or soldby standholders at the show, and remind exhibitors that such products may not meetthe requirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

22. Exhibitors/handlers are responsible for clearing up and removing any loose hair orfouling from dogs in their charge, or any other litter, whether from the car park, theexercise area or from any other part of the venue.

23. Parents/Guardians please note, well behaved children are welcome but those in chargeof children will be held fully responsible for their actions and any damage caused withinthe environs of the show.

24. Owners, handlers, exhibitors or any other person in charge of a dog at a Kennel Clublicensed event must ensure at all times that the dog is kept under proper control whilstat the licensed venue including its environs, car parks and approaches.

25. A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award whether anobjection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have beenregistered or recorded as having been bred by the selected judge. This shall not applyto a judge appointed in an emergency.

26. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification andshould note that the original exhibit/bench number card, as provided by the showsociety, must not be used for this purpose.

27. Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safetyimplications concerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offersufficient protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potentialhazard particularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogs tobecome distressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft cratesshould only be used when there is sufficient room available and when they can besafely secured.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F (B)

1. These regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/orexhibited at any Kennel Club licensed event. Objections may be referred to theGeneral Committee for disciplinary action under these show regulations and/or fordisciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A42.a) a dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these regulations will automaticallybe disqualified from exhibition at the show and from any award gained there at.b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibitedin breach of these regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties ofeither a fine or as listed under Rule A42

2. (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may bepresent in the dog’s coat for any purpose at any time during the show. No substancewhich alters the natural colour of any external part of the dog may be present on thedog for any purpose at any time during the show.(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of adog for exhibition must not be allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part ofthe dog at the time of exhibition.

3. No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereofmay be performed except (a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) the removal of dew claws of any breed(c) The shortening of tails of customarily docked breeds but only up to an acceptableage limit which shall be prescribed from time to time. (d) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to theKennel Club before neutered dogs are shown. Nor must anything be done calculatedto in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive.

4. The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dogor dogs at any show. Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person havingexecutive authority who shall have a written directive from the Kennel Club in theirpossession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis.

5. An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owneror handler of a dog competing in the same breed or class. An objection may however,be lodged by an official of the show or by anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. Itwill be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (asappropriate), to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club willsubstantiate the grounds for an objection made on its behalf.

6. Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations mustbe made in writing to the Show Secretary at his/her office before the close of theshow and the individual must produce evidence of identity at the time of lodging thecomplaint.
