WOW Traveler New York Trip Diary Part I

DAY_0

One day before the start of WOW Traveling, all the staff gathered in New York. Each of the

staff to be part of the WOW Traveler in New York for the upcoming week checked their

respective roles using the check list.

We all left for JFK Airport to greet Rumi and Alessandro, our WOW Travelers. The two

were to arrive at 30 minute intervals, one through a domestic flight (Rumi), and the other

an international flight (Alessandro). While Rumi arrived on time, Alessandro was one hour

over the original schedule and was nowhere to be seen.

We waited and waited, searched every nook and cranny, made calls here and there, but to

no avail. Just when the staff was growing worried and exhausted, we spotted a guy in a

different terminal who well looked like Alessandro.

He looked different from the photo that we had seen because he had a different hair cut

and no beard, but we asked nevertheless and it was Alessandro!!

That was the first encounter with Alessandro, who presented us with a fun(?) event from

the very beginning, and with Rumi, a beautiful yet down-to-earth and fun lady.

DAY_1

The first New York trip with the WOW Traveler team started with rain, but we were

excited, nevertheless. We set out to the streets wearing a black umbrella with the WOW

Traveler logo printed nicely on it.

The wrapping bus that was parked at the front of the hotel commanded an outstanding

presence. It not only grabbed the attention of the passers-by, but also the hotel staff whoapproached and asked what the bus was for. So, this is how the first day of WOW Traveling

started.

To meet the fashion people of New York, we moved to the Meatpacking District that was

lined with studios and bustling with models. Soon enough, we came across models doing

photo shoots as well as the camera team. The scene of photographers, models and lighting

teams doing shooting on the streets of New York spoke out loud the fact that we were

really in New York.

We went to the MOMA Museum to watch an exhibition. We bought gifts wrist watches at a design shop for those who cheered for us for this trip. Rumi, Alessandro and all others

were all looking forward to presenting the gifts to the winners.

DAY_2

On the second day of the trip, the rain started to pour, but we went out feeling less

burdened to look around 5th Avenue the culmination of luxury fashion. We gazed at the

show windows of famous department stores, purchased gifts for winners, and decided to

move to the Grand Central Station.

At the Grand Central Station, we were lucky enough to come across an unexpected event

a breathtakingly beautiful bride and a handsome groom who were doing a wedding shoot

in front of the clock tower (a famous destination of the Station) reading out their oath in

front of the citizens and taking photographs. We waited until the wedding finished and

approached them quietly to get their permission to take pictures. The new couple readily

accepted our abrupt proposal, thanking us for our blessings. It was a true joy to watch this

dramatic moment, a popular topic in movies, with our WOW Traveling team.

DAY_3

Although the sun had yet to shine, we started our day by moving from Greenwich Village to

NYU.

Rumi and Alessandro appear as if they have been close friends forever! Wherever they are,

they take pictures of each other, show it to each other and simply have a good time.

The sun finally appeared on our way from China Town to Little Italy. Alessandro, who isfrom Italy, told us interesting things about Italy, and was fascinated by the Italy in the US.

He looked at gifts for his Italian friends and girl friend back home. Now, lunch time. Having

sat around the table for Italian food, one question left us curious, How will Alessandrothink about the food? (Particularly so because Alessandro, with his very cheerful andhonest character, had entertained us with unexpected reactions all along.)

After chatting for a while with the waiter in Italian and tasting the food, Alessandro saidthe food was good, unlike what he had expected, with a content look on his face. With a

good laugh, we were able to enjoy the lunch to the fullest.
