BIOGRAPHIESRafael Borge holds a degree on Forestry and Environmental Engineering and a Ph.D. onatmospheric modeling from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Spain. He leads theLaboratory of Environmental Modelling at the Department of Chemical and EnvironmentalEngineering of the UPM. Associated professor at this same University, he runs courses onenvironmentalengineering,airqualityandenvironmentalmodeling.Currently,hecoordinatestheTECNAIREresearchprojectthataimsatthedevelopmentandintegrationofnewtechnologiesandmethodsformultiscalemodellingandmeasuringofurbanairpollution.EmilioCerdáholdsaPhDinMathematicsfromComplutenseUniversityMadrid.HeisProfessorofEconomicAnalysisatUniversidadComplutensedeMadridsince1992,andtheDirectorofresearchinSustainabilityandEnvironmentalAnalysis,intheComplutenseInstituteofInternationalStudies(ICEI),since2007.HewastheDirectoroftheDepartmentofEconomicAnalysis2003-2007,thePresidentofSpanish-PortugueseAssociationofNaturalandEnvironmentalResourceEconomics2012-2014, the Coordinator of the PhD Program in Economics (UCM) 2013-2017, and theCoordinatoroftheresearchgroupinNaturalandEnvironmentalResourceEconomics(UCM).Hehasmorethan70academicpublications.WilliamClark is theHarveyBrooksProfessorof InternationalScience,PublicPolicyandHumanDevelopment at Harvard University’s John F. Trained as anecologist,hisresearchfocusesonsustainabilityscience:understandingtheinteractionsofhumanandenvironmentalsystemswithaviewtowardadvancingthegoalsofsustainabledevelopment.He is particularly interested in how institutional arrangements affect the linkage betweenknowledgeandactioninthesustainabilityarena.AtHarvard,hecurrentlyco-directstheSustainabilityScienceProgram.Charles Davis is a Professor of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology Curator of Vascular PlantCollectionandtheDirectorofHarvardUniversityHerbaria.Heisinterestedinplantdiversityandtheintersectionofevolutionandecology.Hisresearchusesphylogeneticmethodstostudybiomeevolution,floraldevelopment,molecularevolution,recentclimatechange,andplantclassification.KerryEmanuelisaProfessorofAtmosphericScienceatMassachusettsInstituteofTechnologyanda prominent meteorologist and climate scientist who specializes in moist convection in theatmosphere, and tropical cyclones. His research interests focus on tropical meteorology andclimate,withaspecialtyinhurricanephysics.Hisinterestsalsoincludecumulusconvection,therole of clouds, water vapor, and upper-ocean mixing in regulation of climate, and advancedmethodsofsamplingtheatmosphereinaidofnumericalweatherprediction.EmanuelreceivedanS.B.degreeinEarthandPlanetarySciencesandaPh.D.inMeteorology(1978)bothfromMIT.

The courses are attended by tens of thousands of students in openenrollment frommore than 180 countries. Her current research focus is the design of urbandistributionmodels(freightdeliveries)withspecialfocusonomni-channeldistributionstrategies.ShealsoleadsresearchinitiativesonReverseLogisticsandClosed-LoopSupplyChains.Francisco Pulido is a Professor at the Department of Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution atComplutense University of Madrid. He holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from University ofKonstanz (Germany). During his PhD (1993-1998), Francisco Pulido, was involved in the mostimportantscientificstudyonthecontrolofbirdmigrationinbirds(withPeterBertholdattheMPIofOrnithologyinRadolfzell).Inthisstudy,heinvestigatedthegeneticsandevolutionofmigratorybehaviorinblackcapsanddevelopedthe“thresholdmodel”,whichiscurrentlythe“nullmodel”for testingevolutionarychanges inmigratorybehavior.This study involved thestudyofalmost2000blackcapsincaptivity.Asapostdoc,hestartedstudyingenzymepolymorphismandgeneticvariationatcandidategenelociwiththeaimofunderstandingthephysiologicalandgeneticbasesof variation in migratory behavior. He has identified two genetic polymorphisms that are
