Working Toward Brighter Futures C5 Georgia’s Leadership Lunch Program C5 Georgia would like to invite you to help lead a young person toward a successful career by hosting a Leadership Lunch—a unique opportunity to share the joys and challenges of your work experience with under-served but enthusiastic, motivated teens. What’s involved? 2.5 hours of your time to converse with promising young students, introduce them to your staff, and share a business lunch. Why get involved? C5 Georgia teens are from under-resourced backgrounds who will, in more than 75% of cases, be the first in their family to attend college. You’ve been recognized as someone with just the kind of experi- ence, leadership skills and insight these future workers and community leaders can benefit from. In just one Leadership Lunch, they gain perspective on an industry, career and workplace they may not have had access to otherwise, an opportunity that helps them set high career goals important for a head-start after graduation. In that same few hours, you get the chance to meet some of the brightest students in Georgia, and to share some of what you’ve learned along your path to success. CALL 678.293.4794 OR EMAIL [email protected] TO LEARN MORE AND TO SIGN UP TO HOST A LEADERSHIP LUNCH FOR C5 GEORGIA STUDENTS. I hosted a leadership lunch and that exposed me to C5 Georgia. I was blown away. I thought, if I can raise my three daughters to be as thoughtful, interested and interesting as the kids who visited with me for lunch, then I will have been a great dad. —Mike Seckler, Partner, Euclidean Technologies

Working Toward Brighter Futures C5 Georgia’s Leadership Lunch Program

C5 Georgia would like to invite you to help lead a young person toward a successful career by hosting a Leadership Lunch—a unique opportunity to share the joys and challenges of your work experience with under-served but enthusiastic, motivated teens.

What’s involved?2.5 hours of your time to converse with promising young students, introduce them to your staff, and share a business lunch.

Why get involved?C5 Georgia teens are from under-resourced backgrounds who will, in more than 75% of cases, be the first in their family to attend college. You’ve been recognized as someone with just the kind of experi-ence, leadership skills and insight these future workers and community leaders can benefit from.

After the Visit We value all opportunities for our students to receive honest feedback, so feel free to share your impressions at the close of the meeting. If you would like to provide more detailed feedback or contact your visiting C5 Georgia students in the future, please contact Rebecca DeYarman, C5 Georgia Director of Development, at [email protected].

Leadership Lunch Program Details & PreparationsLeadership Lunches augment C5 Georgia’s year-round curriculum and form an integral part of the transition between high school and college for our 10th, 11th and 12th grade students.

A C5 Georgia representative will contact you to establish a schedule and and discuss the itinerary for your Leadership Lunch event.

Think about your workplace, and ask yourself: What defines us as a company, and how do we best explain our work? If I were a young person looking to choose a career, what would I want to know about this company and industry? Who would I be excited to meet and speak with?

Consider your lunch location carefully: rather than host it somewhere likely to be familiar to teens, choose a place that expands their experience.

Preparing for the Visit

Part One: Workplace Tour & DialogueBegin the visit with an open exchange between you, three to five of your employees and your C5 Georgia students. Make it a conversation—show them your workplace while creating a dialogue about job responsibilities, career paths and educa-tion. Your C5 Georgia teen will come prepared to ask questions about you and your staff’s path to success.

Feel free to ask students questions about their lives, but avoid delving into specific family circum-stances. “What are the greatest challenges facing teens in your neighborhood or at your school?” is an appropriate question.

Part Two: Business LunchHost a special lunch, either in the company dining room or at a local restaurant frequented by business people. Lunches should last about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Expect the students to ask questions like:

• What do you find most and least satisfying about your job?

• What was your vision for the future when you were in high school?

• How would your life be different if you had not gone to college?

• What are the best career decisions you have made?

Feel free to ask them questions like:• What has been your most important learning

experience as part of C5 Georgia’s program? • Where do you see yourself in ten years? • How is your vision of the future different because

of C5 Georgia?• Why should the community invest in C5 Georgia?

* C5 Georgia thanks you for your participation in Leadership Lunch and for covering the cost of the meal for all participants.
