Our committee is pleased to present this
book for your reference for the 2015
Provincial exhibition. We are also
pleased to implement the many
suggestions given to the committee and
have been hard at work to include them.
Read the book carefully, regarding dates,
times, and when exhibits can be brought in. Dates and times
have changed regarding the day to receive handcrafts, art and
photography.
The prize list and forms can be viewed at www.peiwi.ca and
printed or shared online.
NEW THIS YEAR:
The restriction on winning the Special Awards for two
consecutive years has been removed.
Handcrafts, art and photography will now be received a
day early on Tuesday, August 11 from 7:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Island Matters Rug Hooking Group will be hosting an
interactive rug hooking project during the first four days
of the exhibition.
Please make special note of all material you receive from the
office regarding times and dates.
Hope you have been encouraged to participate in the 2015 an-
nual WI Handcrafts, Horticulture and Arts Show, and we look
forward to your entry.

TABLE OF CONTENTS
1. ENTRIES
PEI residents of all ages may enter.
Exhibitors do not have to be Women’s Institute members.
Photos of winning entrants may be publicized for WI purposes.
A. At the back of this book is an entry form. Fill in and return before
July 31, 2015 to Federated Women's Institute of P.E.I.
Extra entry forms may be obtained upon request.
Exhibitors must state class and section on entry form.
New exhibitors will not be accepted after July 31, 2015.
B. Entry tags will be mailed to exhibitors as soon as possible after entry
form is received. Attach these tags securely to each article. Please do
not detach stub from entry tag.
C. Receiving of Exhibits
CLASSES: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, & Y (1-13) will be
received in the WI area at the Eastlink Center, Park Street Entrance
(Upper Level), on Tuesday, August 11 from 7:30 a.m. - noon.
Flower Exhibits, Class R and Vegetable Exhibits, Class T & Y (19-22)
will be received at the Eastlink Center, Park Street Entrance , on
Monday, August 17 from 7:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.
Food Exhibits, Class N, O, & Y (14-18) will be received at the
Farm Centre, Monday, August 17 from 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
D. Additional entries will be accepted at any of the receiving times, from
any exhibitor who has submitted an entry form on or before July 31,
2015 and who has an entry number (found on entry tags).
GENERAL INFORMATION I M P O R T A N T
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING AN ENTRY FORM
Please Note: Food Exhibits which do not place 1st, 2nd or 3rd are to be picked
up between 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Farm Centre, 420 University Ave,
Charlottetown on Monday, Aug. 17.

E. There can be only one entry in each section from any competitor.
F. All Entries - must be the work of the exhibitor
- must be completed in the past year with the exception of Class K.
- must not have been exhibited at any previous Provincial Exhibitions in
Charlottetown.
- In classes where a special number or size of item(s) is stated, if in the
opinion of the judges and staff, work does not meet these specifications,
the entry will be disqualified.
G. This Exhibition is meant for AMATEUR EXHIBITORS only. Amateur Exhibitors are people who enjoy working on their handcraft(s),
and developing their proficiency.
Any three of the following would constitute a professional:
- derive the major part of their income from their craft;
- spend most of their time working on their craft;
- exhibit their craft several times each year;
- over a number of years have completed work for sale;
- have completed and continue to take part in workshops beyond the
introductory training level.
H. Current Exhibition Committee members are NOT ELIGIBLE TO ENTER.
I. Volunteers who have items entered in any class may not assist in
any way during judging of that class, e.g. have a food entered then
cannot work foods, have a sewing entry, then cannot work with sewing,
etc.
J. The Women’s Institute Show will be open to the public on:
Thursday, August 13 to Saturday, August 15 Noon - 9:00 p.m
Sunday, August 16......................................... 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Monday, August 17........................................ 2:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Tuesday, August 18 to Saturday, August 22 Noon - 9:00 p.m.
2. EXHIBITS A. Exhibitors are reminded of their responsibility to have exhibits picked up
on Monday, August 24, 2015 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Prize money will be given at that time. Entry tag stubs MUST be
presented at pick up in order to receive items.

B. Diligence will be taken to ensure the safety of exhibits sent to the
Exhibition. Should any exhibit or portion thereof be damaged, lost or
stolen, the Exhibition Committee will give assistance towards recovery
of same, but will not be liable, or make any payment for the value
thereof.
C. Entries should have no identifying marks other than official entry tag.
Any identifying marks or names should be covered before exhibiting.
D. “For Sale” signs are not permitted on any entries.
E. Entrants should carefully read and understand the categories. If there is
any question about which section an item should be entered in, the
exhibitor should contact someone knowledgeable in the class for help in
making the correct decision. It is the responsibility of exhibitors to
select the proper class and section for their entries.
3. JUDGES
A. The judges selected are fully qualified and competent. Their decision
will be final.
B. The judges shall remain anonymous.
4. JUDGING CRITERIA
Classes A - H & K will be judged on the following criteria:
1. Workmanship 45 points
2. Design 25 points
3. General Appearance 15 points
4. Colour 15 points
5. PRIZE MONEY
A. Prize money - will be given out when exhibits are picked up on Monday,
August 24, 2015 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
B. Additional/Special Prizes will be mailed directly from sponsors after
Sept. If you do not receive your prize by Nov. 6, 2015, contact the WI
office.

6. SPECIAL AWARDS
The Prince Edward Island Women's Institute, with assistance from the
Department of Innovation and Advanced Learning, will award $100.00
for each of the following categories to be presented on Awards Day,
Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.
To exhibitor with the best hand-quilted quilt in the show (minimum
size 60" x 80")
To exhibitor with the best afghan in the show.
To exhibitor with the best needlework in Class F.
To exhibitor accumulating most points in Classes C, D, E, G and H.
To exhibitor with the best hooked rug in the show.
To exhibitor with the best entry in “Golden Years” class.
To exhibitor with the best photograph in the show (Sections 1 - 8).
To exhibitor with the best painting or drawing in any medium.
To exhibitor accumulating the most points in Class N - Foods.
To exhibitor accumulating the most points in Class R - Flowers
and / or Class T - Vegetables.

7. IT’S A FAMILY TRADITION
A special prize of $100 will be awarded to the family who accumulates the
most points in the exhibition. Family members can include youth, parents,
grand-parents and great grandparents. Anyone competing in It’s a Family
Tradition must list the other members of your family and team name on
your entry form.

8. DEMONSTRATIONS
Following is a tentative list of the dates/times we will have demonstrations
during the 2015 Old Home Week..
Hands on Activity
The Island Matters Rug Hooking Group will be demonstrating their skills
from Thursday, Aug. 13 to Sunday, Aug. 16. If you’ve been wanting to try
your hand at rug hooking, now is your chance.
Please note that afternoon sessions are from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and evening
sessions are from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Federated Women’s Institute of Prince Edward Island
Premier’s Craft Education Award of $3000.00
Purpose of the Award: To enhance skill and proficiency in a chosen craft
and to share experience with others.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Applicant must be an exhibitor of this year’s Women’s Institute Handcrafts,
Horticulture and Arts Show of the Provincial Exhibition or any exhibition
across Prince Edward Island in at least one of the following classes:
Class A - Quilts Class G - Holiday Themes
Class B - Afghans Class H - Other Handcrafts/Crafts
Class C - Knitting Class J - Hooked Rugs
Class D - Crocheting & Tatting Class K - Golden Years
Class E - Sewing Class L - Photography
Class F - Needlework Class M - Art
2. Applicant must have been an exhibitor for at least two years previously.
3. Applicant must complete and submit an application to the PEI Women’s
Institute Office 40 Enman Crescent, Charlottetown, PE C1E 1E6 or Fax:
368-4439 by July 3, 2015. Application form is available on the PEIWI web
site or by calling the WI office.
4. Applicants may apply annually for this award, but shall receive it only
once.
5. Exhibit entry or entries will be part of the selection criteria. A maximum of
three items, relative to your chosen training course, will be considered for
this award. No more than two of the three items could have been displayed
in previous years. A minimum of one of these three items must be
entered in an exhibition on PEI commencing after the 2013 provincial
awards ceremony.
6. A personal interview will be required with the three finalists.
7. A panel of judges will be selected by the Exhibition Committee. The
decision of the judges will be final.
PREMIER’S CRAFT EDUCATION AWARD

8. This award will be presented at Awards Day on Thursday, August 20,
2015.
9. This award is to be used to fund one major training event or two short
courses within two years of presentation. Funds will be dispersed upon
confirmation of registration and proposal of expenses including tuition/
registration, materials and supplies needed, travel expenses (airfare/ground),
hotel/motel, and meals. Receipts will be requested.
10. The final selection of training will be at the discretion of the selection
committee.
11. Recipient will be required to submit a one-page written report to the
Exhibition Committee outlining his/her learning experience.
NOTE: Sections 7 & 18 - Entries here must have a group name and consist of
two or more individuals. The group name must be on the entry form, along
with a contact person’s name/address/telephone number.

Judge’s Choice for PEI entry in Best Other Hooked Article
The Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia will donate $25.00. Any overall
first place entry from Sections 1-14 are eligible providing they are wall
hangings, or other decorative or functional item not intended to go on the
floor.
The winning “Mat” and “Other Article” would then be judged against mats
from across the Maritimes at the Annual General Meeting of the Rug Hooking
Guild of Nova Scotia in October. Details will be given to the winning entrants
at the time they pick up their exhibits. The winners in each of these classes will
be eligible to receive prizes of - 1st, $50.00 and 2nd, $25.00.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD - Island Matters Rug Hooking Group will
