Women Entrepreneurs: Its Big Business by janetjohnson | on July 18, 2013 Women Make Up One Of The Fastest Growing Groups of Entrepreneurs I watched this excellent piece on CBS News This Morning about women entrepreneurs and women creating businesses. I found it very interesting and I wanted to share it. If you are a man, dont stop reading! This is great for you too, if you have an entrepreneur heart and THINK BIG! On the CBS This Morning, SPANX founder Sara Blakely and Drybar founder Alli Webb joined American Express OPEN president Susan Sobbott to discuss the report, 2013 State of Women-Owned Business, that shows more women are thinking big, and making big money. Here is some important information from this news piece about Women entrepreneurs: They make up one of the fastest growing groups of Entrepreneurs They are making their footprint on the US economy They are creating businesses they want to work for They are creating products they cant find They once were frustrated consumers looking to fill a niche Women are starting more companies Women are growing their companies faster Women are employing more people As CBS This Mornings Gayle King nicely puts it: It starts with a womans idea. Thats what I think is so great about it 3. Sara Blakely told on the piece talked about how she listened to her gut feeling. She told how she had never been to a business class in her life. She mentioned that you dont have to be so highly trained or know everything to have your own business or create a product. She found a need and developed a product. Its very interesting and exciting to know these ladies didnt have a degree, but pursued their dreams to make it happen. It can be a daunting process to get a business going or to develop a product, but the rewards are worth it they say, if you stick with it. You never know what may happen if you have a great idea for a product. Its worth it to pursue it to find out. But maybe you dont have an idea for a fabulous product or idea for starting a company, but you want your own business. Maybe you want to be your own boss and not be constrained by a regular job. Or maybe you are out of work and looking for income Susan Sobbot says this when asked why many businesses were started in a down economy: Crisis always breeds innovation and she says what distinguishes women entrepreneurs is that They think big. 4.
