Their winning entry Fix-a-Form was described as an ingenious method of concealing a complete instruction booklet within an outwardly standard product pack label. By using Fix-a-Form the problem of incorporating essential m often multi-lingual information within the packaging of such products as agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, electrical and electronic appliances, tools, and kit-sets is overcome. The information booklet is contained within the self-adhesive label but kept clean and intact until required by the user (as can be seen in the examples shown in Fig. 5). Produced on FasRoll White Litho 80 self-adhesive paper (from Fasson) the label is printed conventionally and can be applied automatically in-line to any standard pack or container. Fix-a- Form, patented internationally by Denny Brothers, also gained the Premier Award for innovation. The Premier Award for design engineering, and also one of the Premier Awards for non- mechanical fastening were gained by Keysan Limited, Telford, UK, for using double-coated tape to fit • intumescent strips to the frames of fire-rated doors. In the event of a fire, the strips will foam up to ten times their original thickness, thereby helping to prevent the passage of smoke and flames through the gaps between door and frame. The application of the strips is simplified by the use of 303 DC polyester tape (from Fasson), it is claimed. The use of 303 DC polyester tape by Keysan Limited for fitting and fastening glazing also won a Merit Award for the company in the design engineering section. The other Premier Award for the use of tapes for non-mechanical fastening went to Harrison 8 Jones (A and I) Limited, Luton, UK, for providing self-adhesive backing to die-cut foam sound-insulation panels, tailored to fit within the cases and cabinets of electronic equipment. Further Merit Awards went to Dart Electronic Controls Limited for the use of FasTouch 2502E spacer tape and FasTouch mounting tape to enable laboratory technicians, wearing sterile gloves, to use computer touch keyboards; andto Total Plastics, Sutton Coldfield, for the use of Fasson double coated foam to attach die-cut badges to caravans. The Fasson Challenge Trophy, presented annually to the entry for the Fasson Self-Adhesive Awards competition judged to demonstrate overall the most creative and excellent use of self-adhesive materials, was in May 1983 presented to Denny Brothers Printing, Bury St. Edmunds, UK. Their winning entry Fix-a-Form was described as an ingenious method of concealing a complete instruction booklet within an outwardly standard product pack label.

By using Fix-a-Form the problem of incorporating essential m often multi-lingual information within the packaging

of such products as agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, electrical and electronic appliances, tools, and kit-sets is overcome. The information booklet is contained within the self-adhesive label but kept clean and intact until required by the user (as can be seen in the examples shown in Fig. 5). Produced on FasRoll White Litho

80 self-adhesive paper (from Fasson) the label is printed conventionally and can be applied automatically in-line to any standard pack or container. Fix-a- Form, patented internationally by Denny Brothers, also gained the Premier Award for innovation.

The Premier Award for design engineering, and also one of the Premier Awards for non- mechanical fastening were gained by Keysan Limited, Telford, UK, for using double-coated tape to fit

• intumescent strips to the frames of fire-rated doors. In the event of a fire, the strips will foam up to ten times their original thickness, thereby helping to prevent the passage of smoke and flames through the gaps between door and frame. The application of the strips is simplified by the use of 303 DC polyester tape (from Fasson), it is claimed.

The use of 303 DC polyester tape by Keysan Limited for fitting and fastening glazing also won a Merit Award for the company in the

design engineering section. The other Premier Award for the

use of tapes for non-mechanical fastening went to Harrison 8 Jones (A and I) Limited, Luton, UK, for providing self-adhesive backing to die-cut foam sound-insulation panels, tailored to fit within the cases and cabinets of electronic equipment.
