A New Plan For Sport AndRecreation In WingWing has the benefit of funds provided by the developers of the new
homes built in Wing, along with a grant from the District Council’s
New Homes Bonus scheme, which can be spent on sport and leisure
facilities for the community.
As you know, the Parish Council has worked hard to create a plan
which meets the needs and wishes of people in the village, while
doing as much as possible to protect and preserve the look and feel
of the village we all know and love.
This is a plan which has resulted from talking to all the interested
parties from the sports clubs, the activity groups, the joggers and
dog-walkers, as well as the villagers themselves. Several plans and
ideas have been proposed, much feedback has been received from
the community, and many alternative ideas and options have been
considered.
A plan shaped with public input
Wing is lucky enough to have many fine trees throughout the
village and the majority of people have said that, whatever
the final plans may be, trees should not be lost. And
because we have so many trees, a workable plan has been
a challenge. But this proposal meets this challenge. In
addition, no existing buildings will be lost, extra parking is
gained, and a super new pavilion brings the best of
modern facilities to all the village’s sports players.
We need to hear your views on this plan – what you like
about it, what you think could be improved.
Please come along to our Public Consultation event this
Tuesday. Yes – we know it’s short notice. But, having taken time
to get the plan aligned with everyone’s needs and wishes, we have
tight deadlines to meet to secure the funding.

What is a MUGA?
A MUGA is a Multi-Use Games Area, orballcourt. Ours will have a special kind of non-slip polymer artificial surface, suitable for usefor both football and other sports such asnetball or basketball. It will have 3 metre highfencing, built-in goal areas, and floodlightingthatg is designed to avoid any unwanted lightspilling outside the MUGA.
The photograph is of a typical MUGA, built usingthe same kind of a as the one in the plan for Wing.
The new Sports Pavilion
The new pavilion will house three separate shower and changing areas, and associated disabled lavatories and showers, as well as three storage rooms, a kitchen, group meetings areas for football and bowls users, an admin office for organisersand referees, and a tuck shop.
