We have a classroom set of textbooks, and you will have online access through Google Classroom COURSE DESCRIPTION: The objective of this course will not only be to learn about the complexities of history, but also to help foster critical thinking skills and formulate your own opinions about history. By the end of the course you will have the means to examine history in a critical manner and explore how the events of today reflect upon the past. Because world history is a study in the diffusion of people across the globe and the cultures that ebb and flow over time, you must also have a base knowledge of the regions of the world. This means you will also become proficient in the five themes of geography, as well as key geographic skills and concepts. Topics are outlined in the day-to-day schedule. GRADING: Grading will be consistent with the scale found in the student handbook. Your grade will be based on the following: Assignments/Homework - 40% Work that is completed in class or at home. Projects – 20% Each quarter we will work on 2 or 3 large projects, such as self-prepared maps or classroom presentations. Your BOE project is included in this category. Online participation – 10% Online discussions and participation in our Google Classroom. Grades will be consistent with our “Online Discussion Rubric.” Tests & Quizzes - 30% Late Work/Make-up Work – I do not accept late work. In accordance with the student handbook, work missed for an excused absence must be made up within two class periods. TECHNOLOGY: You will be assigned a Chromebook by name, and will be expected to notify me immediately of any damage to it. The previous student that used the Chromebook will be assessed for the damage. If the student that uses the Chromebook after you reports damage, you will responsible to pay for fixing it, which is why it is important to check your Chromebook every time you use it.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The objective of this course will not only be to learn about
