Introduction

Many people today are in dire needof a change which only God could handle. They’ve probably heard about how Godshowed up in some other person’s situa-tion, and this makes them wonder, ‘Whatabout me?’ ‘When will God ever meet myneed?’ But God is real and He does visit.

God is omnipresent; His presencefills everywhere; yet He does come and go,in spite of His omnipresence. This is be-cause though His presence is everywhere,His manifested presence is not everywhere. So God does visit.

“He (The Word) was in theworld, and the world was

made by him, and the worldknew him not. He came untohis own, and his own receivedhim not.” (John 1:10-11)

God visited His people in the per-son of His Son, but they didn’t recognizeHim when He came.

One of the reasons many peopledon’t know when God visits is their inabil-ity to recognize the Presence of God. Thisis because they haven’t realized that Hispresence is more than a feeling. This willalways happen when they live their livesin someone else’ experience rather thanthe Word of God. Another reason is thatmany don’t know how to respond to thePresence of God. They may be saved andfilled with the Holy Spirit, but still unableto respond to the Presence of God becausethey’re not acquainted with His personal-ity.

When you recognize the Presenceof God and know how to respond to Him

6

Introduction

when He visits, you will be able to get thepower of God to work for you. But if youfail to recognize and properly respond toHim, His power won’t do you any good.

Does God always come with a loudnoise? Must a bush burn to indicate HisPresence? Does He come at my invitationor does He suddenly come? Will He evervisit me, or has He and I didn’t know it?Do I have any part to play in God visitingme? These are some of the questions thathave filled the hearts of many.

Let’s look through the Word of Godand take examples from the lives of menand women who were able to take advan-tage of God’s visitation to receive theirhealing, find solutions to their problemsand moved their lives up to a higher level.

I encourage you to open your heartas you read this book because God wantsto visit His children; He really wants tovisit you.

Prepare for that visitation!

When God Visits You

Chapter 1

A Strong Desire

In the early period of the history ofthe nation of Israel, they had gotten com-fortable with the Egyptian lifestyle andhad fallen in love with the onions and gar-lic of Egypt. At this time the children ofIsrael still enjoyed the goodwill of succes-sive Pharaohs and the Egyptians. It is pos-sible they had even forgotten the land flow-ing with milk and honey God promisedAbraham and his seed. But Joseph being aprophet of God, knew by revelation whatwould happen in the not too distant fu-ture.

“And Joseph said unto his

8

9

brethren, I die: and God willsurely visit you, and bring youout of this land unto the landwhich he sware to Abraham, toIsaac, and to Jacob.” (Genesis50:24).

Hitherto, the predicaments of thechildren of Israel remained the same. Theydid not pursue an ardent desire for achange in their circumstances; henceGod’s Word couldn’t be fulfilled in them.

After Joseph became the prime Min-ister of Egypt, the children of Israel tre-mendously prospered and increased innumber until a new Pharaoh ruled Egypt, who knew nothing of how the Egyptianempire was preserved from faminethrough Joseph’s wisdom (Exodus1:7-14).Consequently, out of fear and insecurityin the face of the growing strength of thechildren of Israel, he subjected them to sla-very.

Soon, Israel’s desire for a change

When God Visits You

grew and God heard their cry and sent adeliverer to bring them out of slavery andlead them into the Promised Land.

“And it came to pass in processof time, that the king of Egyptdied: and the children of Israelsighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their crycame up unto God by reason ofthe bondage.” (Exodus 2:23)

“And the Lord said, I havesurely seen the affliction of mypeople which are in Egypt, andhave heard their cry by reasonof their taskmasters; for Iknow their sorrows; And I amcome down to deliver them outof the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out ofthat land unto a good land anda large, unto a land flowingwith milk and honey; unto the

place of the Canaanites, and theHittites, and the Amorites, andthe Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.” (Exodus3:7-8)

So the LORD called Mosesand said,

“Come now therefore, and Iwill send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forthmy people the children of Israelout of Egypt. (Exodus 3:10)

God’s response came as a result oftheir strong desire for a change in theirsituation.

There’s another inspiring story ofa woman in the book of 1 Samuel 1:1-21,named Hannah. Her story reveals God’spersonality, faithfulness and kindness.

Hannah had no child because shewas barren. She had been in this situation

11

When God Visits You

12

for many years, and no physician couldhelp her. So, she knew God was the onlyone who could help her; her situationcouldn’t be reversed by man’s power orability. The situation was a bit bearable forher because her husband loved her verymuch, her condition notwithstanding. Moreover, she got a worthy portion of of-fering to sacrifice to God at Shiloh - theannual place of worship. On a particularoccasion, while the whole family was ontheir way to worship and offer sacrificesto God at Shiloh, her rival, Peninnah, goaded her with her condition. This madeher very sad and desperate and her coun-tenance fell. This time, her husband’s ef-forts to encourage her were all to no avail.By the time they arrived at Shiloh, her de-sire for a child was so strong, that the Biblesays,

“And she was in bitterness ofsoul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.” (1 Samuel

A Strong Desire

13

1:10)Hannah had a strong desire now

for a change. When God visits you, the first thing

you’ll discover is a strong desire forchange.

There is a promise of a higher realmof life for you regardless of where you arepresently. God’s Word is His promise toyou, and it’s a place of rest. When you letHim visit you, He will carry you there.

You need the visitation of God inorder to move to this realm of life, but firstyou need that desire. You are God’s childbut you have an enemy, the devil, who willdo everything to keep you from gettingwhat is yours.

Do you want a change? Do youwant the power of the kingdom of God toproduce results for you? Then your heartmust reach out; you must be bursting witha strong desire. Strong desire is necessaryin life. A compelling desire for a change is

When God Visits You

the starting place.

“ And David perceived that theLord had established him kingover Israel, and that he hadexalted his kingdom for hispeople Israel's sake.” (2Samuel 5:12)

Isn’t this amazing? David had beenking for several years already. Then oneday, while sitting on his throne, it dawnedon him that God had actually establishedhim as king over Israel and exalted hiskingdom.

I’m sure something like this has hap-pened to you before; you were looking fora pen to use and it suddenly dawned onyou, you had one in your pocket, all thewhile.

There are times you don’t havesomething but because you don’t reallyhave any desire for it, it might not occurto you that you need it. All of a sudden,

A Strong Desire

14

the need dawns on you, and from thatpoint your desire for it begins to increase.

Hannah had probably made up alot of excuses in her heart for her condi-tion, thinking, “The God of Abraham willvisit me one day.” She must have tried toconsole herself that everything was okayexcept that she didn’t have a child. But itgot to a time that she couldn’t take it any-more, it dawned on her, just like David, that she needed a miracle. She knew shedidn’t want to live the rest of her life with-out a child.

The same thing happened to thechildren of Israel in Egypt. It wasn’t untilthey didn’t have enough to eat and thewhips of the Egyptian taskmasters landedon their backs that God’s promise occurredto them (Exodus 2:23-25). It dawned onthem that a better land was waiting forthem, where all the good things of life werefreely available and they’d no longer beslaves.

Sometimes you find Christians in a

15

When God Visits You

16

desperate situation, just like Hannah’s, butthey fail to recognize it. They have greatneed in their lives but fail to realize it. Untilthe need dawns on them, they may neverrecognise the solution or desire it.

You want a change? It’s got todawn on you that God has prepared some-thing better than where you are now. Thefirst step to your miracle is to get uncom-fortable with your present state!

GOD IS AT YOUR DOOR

When you discover that you havea strong desire for change, then God is atyour door. The strong desire is the responseof the human soul to God, as He knockson the door of your heart. There’s some-thing about the human soul; when yoursoul cries out in a strong desire, Godimmediately responds to it. God said, ‘be-fore you call I’ll be there, before you ask,I’ll answer you’(Isaiah 65:24).

A Strong Desire

17

NOURISH YOUR DESIRE!

What do you do with your desire?Let’s learn from David. David had an ex-cellent reputation of seeking God’s Pres-ence. God called him a man after His ownheart (1 Samuel 13:14).

“O God, thou art my God; earlywill I seek thee: my soulthirsteth for thee, my fleshlongeth for thee in a dry andthirsty land, where no wateris; To see thy power and thyglory, so as I have seen thee inthe sanctuary.” (Psalms 63:1-2)

David said, ‘I have a strong desirewithin me to see your power, Oh God!’ Hedidn’t hunger and thirst for food anddrink; he thirsted and hungered to see thepower of God.

If you don’t follow his writing care-

When God Visits You

18

fully, you may erroneously think he justwoke up one morning with this desirewithout doing anything, that is, withoutany effort on his own part.

The secret of this longing and de-sire for God is in verse 6 of the same chap-ter, where he says,

“When I remember thee upon mybed, and meditate on thee in thenight watches.” (Psalm 63:6)

Can you see that? Even when hewent to bed, he didn’t forget about God.He thought about Him all day and night, meditating on His Word.

This wasn’t an accidental thought. No! It was a conscious thought and musthave required some effort on his part. Hedeliberately and consciously nursed his de-sire for God! You can either nurse to in-crease your deisre, or quench your desire.

When that strong desire comes toyour heart, nurse it, nourish it, and don’t

A Strong Desire

19

let anything take it away from you. Let itgrow stronger and stronger.

You’ll also discover that when youhave a strong desire for something, moreinformation will come to you about thatthing. Then you’ll look up to God for an-swers. If you have a strong desire, let itwork in you, don’t push it away.

“The fear of the wicked, itshall come upon him: but thedesire of the righteous shall begranted.” (Proverbs 10:24)

With the desire, half the battle iswon already. But it’s your responsibility tonurse it. Jesus said, ‘blessed are they whichhunger and thirst after righteousness; for theyshall be filled.’(Matthew 5:6). The reasonthey’re blessed is because they’ll be filled. The Presence of God comes right wherethere’s a thirst and hunger for change ac-cording to the Word; right at the door ofyour heart.

When God Visits You

20

DON’T SEEK A SIGN!

God doesn’t always come with ashout; He doesn’t always come amidstblinding lights. This is why some peopledon’t recognize His Presence when Hecomes. A lot of times He just sets up littlesigns, and if you’re not desiring Him, youmay not know when He shows up.

“And he said, Go forth, andstand upon the mount beforethe Lord. And, behold, the Lordpassed by, and a great andstrong wind rent the moun-tains, and brake in pieces therocks before the Lord; but theLord was not in the wind: andafter the wind an earthquake;but the Lord was not in theearthquake: And after theearthquake a fire; but the Lordwas not in the fire: and afterthe fire a still small voice. And

A Strong Desire

it was so, when Elijah heard it,that he wrapped his face in hismantle, and went out, andstood in the entering in of thecave. And, behold, there camea voice unto him, and said,What doest thou here, Elijah?”(1 Kings 19:11-13)

When God met with Elijah, greatsigns were manifested but God wasn’t inany of them; there was a great wind, anearthquake and a fire. God doesn’t alwayscome with pomp and pageantry; He mayjust come to you in a most obscure andunusual manner. The important thing isto recognize His Presence however. Jacobhad a dream and when he awoke, he said,“...Surely the Lord is in this place; and Iknew it not.” (Genesis 28:16). He realizedGod had visited him while he slept and hedidn’t even wake up!

Don’t wait for a sign before you ac-knowledge the Presence of God. Always

21

When God Visits You

22

be prepared to receive from God everytime and at anytime; that’s the winningattitude.

DON’T STOP

Hannah could have thought, ‘Well,I can’t go to the temple now, I’ll pray tomor-row, let me go home now’; but she didn’twaste any time. She prayed immediatelywith tears and with the whole of her heart. She didn’t give up, but followed throughon her desire, committing herself whollyto it.

Joseph encouraged his brethren tokeep God’s promise in their hearts, and bestrengthened by the thought of a betterland.

“And Joseph said unto hisbrethren, I die: and God willsurely visit you, and bring youout of this land unto the landwhich he sware to Abraham, to

A Strong Desire

23

Isaac, and to Jacob. And Josephtook an oath of the children ofIsrael, saying, God will surelyvisit you, and ye shall carry upmy bones from hence. So Josephdied, being an hundred and tenyears old: and they embalmedhim, and he was put in a coffinin Egypt.” (Genesis 50:24-26)

Being a prophet of God he knew thechildren of Israel would go through sometough and rough times. ‘Don’t give up,don’t despair because God has promisedus a better land and He is faithful to hispromises.’ This could summarize his vale-dictory address. I’m sure they must havestared at him in utter amazement, ‘Leave? What in the world are you talking about? This place is great; there is famine every-where else’, they must have thought. Butby the time they became slaves to the Egyp-tians, Joseph’s words made sense to them.It was Joseph’s words that encouraged

When God Visits You

24

them through four hundred years of sla-very.

In Jacob’s case, after many years ofself-exile in another land, he wanted to goback home. He had been living with hisuncle, but now he wanted to start a newlife in his own house with his own family. You may be living with your uncle orfriends and you want your own house. That’s just the way Jacob felt; he wanteda change, and the desire came becauseGod was at his door. Hannah was desper-ate about her situation as well. So, you cansee that you’re not alone.

When God knocks at your door andthat desire wells up in you, don’t try tosuppress or smother it. What you reallyought to do is build, nourish and con-stantly stir up that desire. I know you’rereading this book because you have a de-sire for God. Your desire is the first stepbecause there are still many more thingsto do. This is why I’m sharing thesethoughts with you. Don’t stop now! Let

A Strong Desire

25

your desire bring you to the place whereyou’ll possess what you’ve desired.

God loves to visit His childrenand He wants to visit you!

When God Visits You

26

Chapter 2

The Spirit of PrayerComes To You

With a compelling desire for achange comes a strong urge to pray. A bur-den of prayer begins to develop as God’sSpirit leads you into the place of change.

CALL FOR IT!

Now there is a desire in you, butyou have to call the object of your desire.Your soul’s call for a change invokes thePresence of God who desires to answeryour prayer. As you call out in prayer, Heanswers you.

27

As close as your friends are to you, they still request your person and have con-sideration for your invitations and re-sponses. The Lord is even more friendlyand polite. The scriptures declare that heis a friend that sticks closer than a brother. If you invite him into your situation, through prayer and faith, He will honourit.

Many times, people wonder whythey should pray. You must understandthat God has given man complete author-ity in the physical realm (Genesis 1:26;Psalm 115:16), so He needs man’s invita-tion to do anything on earth because He isnot a usurper. Secondly, He made man afree moral agent, equipped with the abil-ity of making his own choices(Deuteronomy 11:26-28). And thirdly, there is power in our words (Proverbs18:21) and He wants us to release thispower as we declare our desire.

The scripture says,

When God Visits You

28

“Take with you words, and turn tothe Lord: say unto him, Take awayall iniquity, and receive us gra-ciously: so will we render thecalves of our lips.” (Hosea 14:2).

Your words are important to Him.Jesus is the High Priest of our confession(Hebrews 3:1); it’s what you say with yourmouth that He’ll honour before the Father.

You ought to take time aside fromthe world, aside from every thing else andpray according to His Word. Spend timein prayer, sincerely looking up to God.

“So Hannah rose up after theyhad eaten in Shiloh, and afterthey had drunk. Now Eli thepriest sat upon a seat by a postof the temple of the Lord. Andshe was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, andwept sore.” (1 Samuel 1:9-10)

The Spirit of Prayer Comes To You

29

Thank God Hannah knew what todo! She was fed up with her situation andso went back to the house of God in Shiloh. She wouldn’t leave until she got an answerfrom God. It got to the time she couldn’tspeak or shout anymore, so she just hadto talk to God from within her heart: novoice, but the movement of her lips only.

This wasn’t a prayer for otherpeople to hear; it was directed to God fromher heart. Even the high priest, who hadbeen there all the while, observing thosethat came into the house of God, errone-ously thought Hannah was drunk and heaccused her to her face.

“And Eli said unto her, Howlong wilt thou be drunken? putaway thy wine from thee. AndHannah answered and said,No, my lord, I am a woman ofa sorrowful spirit: I havedrunken neither wine norstrong drink, but have poured

When God Visits You

30

out my soul before the Lord.Count not thine handmaid fora daughter of Belial: for out ofthe abundance of my complaintand grief have I spoken hith-erto.” (1 Samuel 1:14-16)

Praying from the heart doesn’tmean you’re praying for twenty hours. Ithas no reference to the length of time spent, rather, the impact of the time spent. Thetime you spend in prayer should affect you;it should influence and transform you.

Do you know you can achieve somuch in five minutes of prayer, than somecould in ten years? When the prayer comesfrom your heart, I tell you, in five minutes, the very walls of that room will begin tovibrate with the power of God. Yet, spend-ing protracted time in prayer is highly es-sential for indepth spiritual impact.

“…The earnest (heartfelt, con-tinued) prayer of a righteous

The Spirit of Prayer Comes To You

31

man makes tremendous poweravailable [dynamic in its work-ing].” (James 5:16 - The Am-plified Translation)

The prayer that’s from deep withinthe heart is the one with dynamic power. This is when your inner man reaches outand calls out to God.

BE SPECIFIC!

Hannah was specific in her requestto God. She didn’t just ask for a child. Shespecifically asked for a son (1 Samuel 1:11).This was how she got her miracle. It’s won-derful to know that many years of barren-ness didn’t becloud her mind; she knewexactly what she wanted.

You must be specific in your desire. That’s the only way to get your miracle.Never be vague before God. Remember Heis there listening to you and He is ready to

When God Visits You

32

fulfill your heart’s desire.

BRING FORTH

YOUR STRONG REASONS

Jacob had been on self-exile formany years, because he was afraid of hisbrother‘s (Esau) wrath; for he had de-ceived and taken his birthright and bless-ing. Now Jacob was on his way home tomeet his brother, but fear and anxiety filledhis heart. To avert the complete destruc-tion of his properties and household, hedivided them into two parties and sentthem ahead of him. By the time everybodyhad left him, the Bible records that he wasall alone, and God visited him.

“And Jacob was left alone; andthere wrestled a man with himuntil the breaking of the day.”(Genesis 32:24)

The Spirit of Prayer Comes To You

33

While Jacob was alone, a manwrestled with him. But if you don’t com-pare scriptures, you may think someonejust showed up and fought him. No! Theman who wrestled with him was the An-gel of the Lord.

When we don’t have the full pic-ture from a single portion of scripture, youmay need to make comparison with otherareas of scripture, especially with the NewTestament to fully understand the message. This is why the Apostle Peter said, “Know-ing this first, that no prophecy of the scrip-ture is of any private interpretation.” (2Peter 1:20)

For example, Genesis 5:24 says,“And Enoch walked with God: and he wasnot; for God took him.” To understandwhat actually happened you’ll have to goto the New Testament (Hebrews 11:5).There you’ll find that the real statementshould read, “Enoch was not found dead…”;he didn’t die because he was translated.

Now, the full picture of what hap-

When God Visits You

34

pened between Jacob and the angel of theLord is found in the book of Hosea.

“He (Jacob) took his brother bythe heel in the womb, and byhis strength he had power withGod: Yea, he had power overthe angel, and prevailed: hewept, and made supplicationunto him: he found him inBethel, and there he spake withus; Even the Lord God of hosts;the Lord is his memorial.”(Hosea 12:3-5)

The angel that appeared to Jacobwas actually the Holy Ghost; this was oneof the manifestations of the Holy Ghost inthe Old Testament. Therefore when theBible says Jacob wrestled with the angel,it was actually referring to the supplica-tion he made to God. It would be foolishto take this scripture in Genesis literally. How can a man wrestle and prevail over

The Spirit of Prayer Comes To You

35

God physically?Jacob prevailed because he held on

to his vow in Bethel as his strong reason.

“And he called the name of thatplace Bethel: but the name ofthat city was called Luz at thefirst. And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me,and will keep me in this waythat I go, and will give mebread to eat, and raiment to puton, So that I come again to myfather's house in peace; thenshall the Lord be my God: [22]And this stone, which I have setfor a pillar, shall be God'shouse: and of all that thoushalt give me I will surely givethe tenth unto thee.” (Genesis28:19-22)

Jacob had earlier on in his journeyout of his native country, made a vow to

When God Visits You

36

God. Now that fear had filled his heart,he held on to the part of his vow that as-sured him of God’s protection on his wayback home. He knew God alwayshonoured vows, and since he had fulfilledhis own part of giving tithes of all he had,God was bound to fulfill His own part ofthe ‘bargain’. He made his supplication intears; it completely ‘broke’ him.

The prayer or supplication thatbreaks through your emotions will affectyou deeply. There’s something about tearsin prayers; it gets you melted in the Pres-ence of God. Many Christians have neverallowed themselves to come to that pointin their lives, and as a result, they neverreally experience the supernatural. Beingborn again is only the beginning; it’s justthe threshold. There’s so much more to beexperienced and discerned in God!

The story of king Hezekiah, theking of Judah is another classic exampleof a man who wrestled with the Lord insupplication and prevailed.

The Spirit of Prayer Comes To You

37

“In those days was Hezekiahsick unto death. And Isaiah theprophet the son of Amoz cameunto him, and said unto him,Thus saith the Lord, Set thinehouse in order: for thou shaltdie, and not live. ThenHezekiah turned his face to-ward the wall, and prayed untothe Lord, And said, Remembernow, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before theein truth and with a perfectheart, and have done thatwhich is good in thy sight. AndHezekiah wept sore.”(Isaiah38:1-3)

Isn’t this beautiful! In spite of thefact that the message that he was going todie came with a note of finality, he stillpleaded his case to God with tears, andbrought forth his strong reasons. He sepa-rated himself from everything and every-

When God Visits You

38

one; his pains and discomfort, and thethought of his inevitable death, and turnedto God. His strong reasons were that hewalked before God in truth and with aperfect heart, and did things that wereacceptable to Him.

The next thing that happened issimply exciting. God stopped the propheton his way back, and told him to go backto Hezekiah.

“Then came the word of theLord to Isaiah, saying, Go, andsay to Hezekiah, Thus saith theLord, the God of David thy fa-ther, I have heard thy prayer, Ihave seen thy tears: behold, Iwill add unto thy days fifteenyears.” (Isaiah 38:4-5)

Hallelujah! Have you made asupplication to God lately? Did thePresence of God overwhelm you, asyou brought forth your strong rea-

The Spirit of Prayer Comes To You

sons?

“Produce your cause, saith theLord; bring forth your strongreasons, saith the King ofJacob.” (Isaiah 41:21)

If this has happened to you, then itwas the Spirit of prayer that came on you. That means you’re on your way to yourmiracle.

Your prayer must be based on theWord of God; His provision in Christ. Oth-erwise, your reasons aren’t strong enoughto get His attention. God will alwayshonour His Word, when His Word is de-clared with your mouth in faith. Devilswill shake and tremble, situations will bow. Why? Jesus said,

“For verily I say unto you, Thatwhosoever shall say unto thismountain, Be thou removed,and be thou cast into the sea;

39

When God Visits You

40

and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that thosethings which he saith shallcome to pass; he shall havewhatsoever he saith. ThereforeI say unto you, What thingssoever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”(Mark11:23-24)

LIBERTY COMES ON YOU

When you pray and open yourheart to God, you’ll forget about everybodyelse. This opens the door of your heart andbecause the Father is listening to you, Heanswers and steps into the room with you. Then the prayer increases as there wouldbe a greater liberty to pray and the wordswill flow more and more from you like a‘gusher’.

The Spirit of Prayer Comes To You

41

“Now the Lord is that Spirit:and where the Spirit of the Lordis, there is liberty.”(2 Corin-thians 3:17)

When the Holy Ghost moves uponyour life you will have a greater liberty toexpress yourself to God. There will be somuch joy and boldness to say anythingyou want to God.

Your whole heart bubbles out withjoy, as you talk to God, since there is agreater freedom of expression in His Pres-ence.

Chapter 3

He Calls You To The Word

Now that you’ve spent time inprayers, hunger will well up from yourspirit. This hunger is a craving for God,and since God and His Word are one (John1:1), it is the craving for the Word of God.Every time the Spirit of God intervenes inyour situation, there’ll be a passion for theWord of God.

THE ANSWER IS IN

THE WORD

All this time, you’ve thought theanswer to your situation will come fromheaven, and you had probably been pa-

43

tiently waiting for it to drop through theceiling. But when you’re supernaturallyalert to the Word of God, you’ll discoverthe answer to all your questions. The Biblecontains the solution to man’s problems;his needs and desires. If you have a Bible, you are blessed.

God will always direct you back tothe Book (the Bible), and show you the so-lution, notwithstanding the thrilling expe-riences you may have had in His Presence.Experiences, feelings and signs won’tchange you because signs can’t changeanybody; only words have the ability tochange people. It doesn’t matter what yousee or experience in life, it will neitherchange you nor your situation.

The children of Israel saw fire andsmoke on Mount Sinai and when Godspoke out of the midst of the fire, theywere scared and ran backwards but itdidn’t change them. Right after these greatsights, they still grumbled and disobeyedGod. Only words can transform a man,

When God Visits You

44

and this is because they’re both are madeof the same substance. Man is a spirit be-ing and the only materials that have theability to get right into his spirit and mixwith his substance are ‘words’.

Jesus said,

“It is the spirit that quick-eneth; the flesh profiteth noth-ing: the words that I speakunto you, they are spirit, andthey are life.” (John 6:63)

MEET YOUR TEACHER

“I will not leave youcomfortless: I will come toyou.” (John 14:18)

Prior to this time Jesus had told Hisdisciples that He would be leaving themsoon, and this made them all very sad. Hewas their Teacher, Comforter, Healer, the

He Calls You To The Word

45

answer to all their questions; He meant ev-erything to them. And now He said Hewould be going away and they wouldn’tbe able to go with Him.

Jesus knowing their hearts assuredthem that it was better for them that Heleft, otherwise the Comforter wouldn’tcome (John 16:7). He said He had a lot ofthings to tell them, but they wouldn’t un-derstand them yet, because they weremysteries that could only be spirituallydiscerned or understood. But the Com-forter that was coming wouldn’t just talkto them, but would live in them, revealingthese mysteries directly to their spirits.(John 16:12-13).

But, who is this Comforter?

“But the Comforter, which isthe Holy Ghost, whom the Fa-ther will send in my name, heshall teach you all things, andbring all things to your remem-brance, whatsoever I have said

When God Visits You

46

unto you.” (John 14:26)

The Comforter is the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is exactly like Jesus. Theword ‘Comforter’ is just one of the syn-onyms for the Greek word ‘Paraklette’; italso means teacher, helper, advocate, strengthener, and one called along side.

He would unveil the Word to you,and cause revelation knowledge to be im-parted to your spirit, so you may live byit. This revelation transcends human wis-dom.

BEYOND THE WRITTEN PAGES

Now when you take your Bible, places you never knew were there, wordsyou never knew were in it, just leap out ofthe pages of the Book and come alive toyou. This is by the power of the HolyGhost. You may have read those scripturesbefore, but you didn’t know that the solu-

tion was there. But now by the Spirit, youknow when, where and how to do theWord and get your miracle. You just knowthat your desire is as good as done.

You can now live the Word beyondthe written pages. Everything in your lifeis put in order to conform to the Word ofGod. Now you’re unstoppable, indomi-table, living the victorious, supernaturallife to which He has called everyone of Hischildren.

Chapter 4

The Force Field

Now that you’ve spent time inprayer, and the Spirit of God has revealedthe answer to your situation to you throughHis Word, the next thing you’ll observe isa force field set up around you. And that’sthe force field of the Holy Ghost, Who isthe power of God. It’s set up all aroundyou, everywhere you go.

“And it came to pass on a cer-tain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees anddoctors of the law sitting by,which were come out of everytown of Galilee, and Judaea,

49

and Jerusalem: and the powerof the Lord was present to healthem.” (Luke 5:17)

These men were well learned in thelaw, but they came in the midst of the mul-titude to hear Jesus teach, looking for loopholes in His teaching by which they couldarrest Him. They didn’t know that some-thing was in the air while Jesus was teach-ing; the power of the Lord was present toheal them - the force field of the HolyGhost.

This can happen to you anywhereand everywhere you go! It can happen toyou, if you want that power of God toflow through your life. You don’t have topay anything for it; just look up to Godand walk in His Word. Refuse to live anordinary life because you have a super-natural life. Something supernatural canhappen to any Christian when he openshis heart to God.

This force field is the new air you

When God Visits You

50

breathe, it’s the power you’re now experi-encing in your life. It creates the freshnessof the Spirit around you. You may notknow how to explain it, but you just knowit’s there. As soon as God sets it up in you,it starts working in and around you.

When you meditate on the Word ofGod and pray, this field will continue togrow and increase in influence; it’ll con-tinue to expand. Ecclesiastes 11:3 says, “Ifthe clouds be full of rain, they empty them-selves upon the earth…” When the influenceof the force field gets to saturation point, Itell you, it’ll condense and God’s powerand glory will be manifested in your situ-ation.

When you let the force field of theHoly Spirit settle on your life, everythingyou’re involved with will turn out for yourgood only.

“And we know that all thingswork together for good to themthat love God, to them who are

51

the called according to his pur-pose.” (Romans 8:28)

When God Visits You

52

Chapter 5

He Changes Things

“And Joseph said unto hisbrethren, I die: and God willsurely visit you, and bring youout of this land unto the landwhich he sware to Abraham, toIsaac, and to Jacob.” (Genesis50:24)

Joseph knew by revelation that, theland of Egypt, where the children of Is-rael were at this time wasn’t God’s per-fect will for them. He knew that the nexttime God showed up on their behalf, theirsituation would change for the better andHe would lead them to the land He’d

53

promised; a higher and better place. WhenGod visits you He will change your po-sition.

Sometimes we wonder why it’s tak-ing such a long time for certain things tohappen in our lives. The more we pray, thefarther our desires seem to drift from us.But God does not tarry, when He visits you, things will change.

ALONE IN HIS PRESENCE

In the middle of 1986, I was minis-tering about Jesus to a young lady whowasn’t born again, but while I was stilltalking I perceived that she wasn’t listen-ing to me. Then I said to her, “I’m going toleave you here, to have some few minuteswith God. All I want you to say is, “DearLord Jesus, I don’t know everything so Ineed your help. Touch my life today.” Godis real though we might not be able to seeHim with our optical eyes. Anyway, she

When God Visits You

54

looked at me with a smug look on her faceand obviously thought I was kidding. ButI left the room to come back about fifteenminutes later.

When I opened the door, she wason the floor having been ‘slain’in the spirit;having a glorious time, full of God’s Spiritand speaking in other tongues. The HolySpirit had met her, saved and filled her. This lady became a wonderful witness forJesus Christ. That is what happens whenGod visits you; He changes things!

I believe deep within her she hon-estly wanted the Spirit of God, she wasonly too proud to do it in the presence ofother people. Sometimes it’s good to bealone, because that’s when your heart isreally open to God.

There are those that just can’t stoptalking when they’re with people; they talkso much without even a punctuation op-portunity. And when they’re alone, theyonly sleep; snoring heavily because they’reexhausted from talking all day. And it’s

He Changes Things

55

impossible even for the Holy Spirit to getthem to something serious. But there’ssomething about being alone in God’sPresence. Hannah had to come back to thehouse of God, but this time she came alone(1 Samuel 1:9). Elijah was alone whenGod appeared to him and asked him,“…What doest thou here, Elijah?” (1Kings 19:9) This was the visit, which thor-oughly transformed Elijah (1 Kings 19:9-18). He left God’s Presence that day withrenewed boldness to speak for Jehovah.King Hezekiah turned his face to the wallimmediately he got the message of his im-pending demise (Isaiah 38:2).

You have to come to a point in yourlife where you shut the world and its caresout; you lock the door of your senses andfocus on God and His Word alone. Oh! Ilike to pray like this often; I shut my door, shut everybody and everything else outuntil I’m alone in the Presence of God.

God had wanted to visit and talkwith Jacob, many times, but his mind was

When God Visits You

56

too busy scheming different things. But assoon as he was alone, God came and vis-ited him. The Bible says “And Jacob wasleft alone…” (Genesis 32:24). Apart fromthe supplication he made to God, some-thing else happened that changed his lifeforever.

A NEW THING HAPPENS

The Angel of God (remember, thisis the Holy Ghost) had to dislocate thehollow of Jacob’s thigh. But in spite of thisdiscomfort Jacob still held on tightly toHim.

“And he (the angel of the Lord)said, Let me go, for the daybreaketh. And he (Jacob) said, Iwill not let thee go, except thoubless me. And he said unto him,What is thy name? And hesaid, Jacob.” (Genesis 32:26-

He Changes Things

57

27)

Jacob had been frustrated andneeded some comfort, he wanted God tobless him, so he held on to the Angel tightlyand insisted on being blessed. Then theAngel asked for Jacob’s name. Why do youthink He asked for his name?

I believe God didn’t need Jacob tointroduce himself, He only wanted him tocome to terms with himself; He wantedhim to realize where his problem was. When God asked him this question, it sud-denly dawned on Jacob that he was acheat. The Bible says, “His own iniquitiesshall take the wicked himself, and he shallbe holden with the cords of hissins”(Proverbs 5:22). Hosea 8:7 says, “Forthey have sown the wind, and they shallreap the whirlwind…”

Jacob knew it was his time to paydearly for his deception, because Esau wasa ruthless man. Moreover, when he heardthat Esau was on his way with four hun-

When God Visits You

58

dred men, his heart fainted within him. Itwasn’t possible for God to bless him be-cause he had been a swindler, a trickster, and a con artist. This was why he was soafraid. Sin destroys faith and replaces itwith fear.

It’s just like what happened toAdam and Eve, when they sinned againstGod in the garden by eating the forbiddenfruit. God came down like He always didto fellowship with both of them but theyhad gone into hiding. When God called outto them, Adam answered from his hiding,“…I heard thy voice in the garden, and Iwas afraid, because I was naked; and I hidmyself.” (Genesis 3:10). He was afraid.Fear always comes to man when he sins.

So, for the first time, it suddenlydawned on Jacob that he had been livingup to his name. Therefore, God had tochange his name first before He could blesshim.

“And he said, Thy name shall

He Changes Things

59

be called no more Jacob, butIsrael: for as a prince hast thoupower with God and with men,and hast prevailed. And Jacobasked , and said, Tell me, I praythee, thy name. And he said,Wherefore is it that thou dostask after my name? And heblessed him there. And Jacobcalled the name of the placePeniel: for I have seen God faceto face, and my life is pre-served.” (Genesis 32:28-30)

When God changed Jacob’s name, his life was completely transformed, andhe got the blessing he earnestly sought. This gave him confidence, boldness, andhis initial guilt and fear completely disap-peared. When God visits you, new thingsare bound to happen; He changes things!

When God Visits You

Chapter 6

He Commands HisBlessings

“Behold, how good and howpleasant it is for brethren todwell together in unity! It islike the precious ointment uponthe head, that ran down uponthe beard, even Aaron's beard:that went down to the skirtsof his garments; As the dew ofHermon, and as the dew thatdescended upon the mountainsof Zion: for there the Lord com-manded the blessing, even lifefor evermore.” (Psalm 133:1-3)

When you take a closer look at

verse 3, you would notice David was talk-ing about the anointing of the Holy Ghost.David referred to the anointing ‘as the dewof Hermon’. Mount Zion and MountHermon, according to the Bible, are oneand the same.

“And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king ofBashan, two kings of theAmorites, which were on thisside Jordan toward thesunrising; From Aroer, which isby the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which isHermon,” (Deuteronomy 4:47-48)

When I studied more about mountHermon, I discovered that it always haddew on it; morning, noon and night. Andthis dew makes the mountain wet everytime.

When you come to the mountain in

61

When God Visits You

the morning, you’ll discover that it’s wetas though there had been a heavy down-pour the previous night, while in actualfact there was no rain. The continual dewon it kept it constantly wet.

Now the Bible says in Psalm 133that the anointing comes down upon uslike ‘the dew of Hermon’, as the dew thatdescended upon the mountains of Zion. The scripture further says, ‘for there Godcommanded the blessings, even life for ever-more.’

THE EFFECT OF THE BLESSING

When God blesses a man there’s re-ally no word to describe it. I’ll call it thesupernatural elixir. Everything you do justturns out right; everything you touch turnsto success. When that blessing is on you, favour will come to you and you can’t helpbut succeed in everything you do. Thisstarts up in your life when God visits you.

62

He Commands His Blessings

Now you can understand something of theforce field we talked about earlier.

Everybody desires to be successfulin whatever they do; and this is perhapswhy some people look for charms to helpthem. Some go to the extent of travelingto other countries to get these charms. Ev-erybody wants that supernatural ‘thing’that can open up doors everywhere.

When the anointing settles on you,as the dew of hermon, its effects are be-yond human description. Everything youtouch starts prospering as that anointingkeeps working. When God gives the wordfor your blessing, it settles on you like dew,and prospers you in every way. This comesfrom the Presence of the Lord.

When Hannah prayed, she got thatforce field set up all around her. It was atthis point that the priest of God blessedher, saying, “…Go in peace: and the Godof Israel grant thee thy petition that thouhast asked of him.” (1 Samuel 1:17); theforce field around her attracted the bless-

63

When God Visits You

ing of God.The dew of God came upon her and

she was blessed. She had a son, and shecalled him Samuel, but she didn’t stopthere; she fulfilled her vow to God by bring-ing the child to the house of God. She wentback home and had more children, thoughshe had been called barren. Glory to God!

Barrenness could touch your life, your business, your body, your education, even your home, and it could touch youin so many ways. But when God visits you,it doesn’t matter how many people don’tlike your face, they just don’t have an op-tion, but to see you go up the ladder ofsuccess and victory because God has com-manded His blessing upon you.

IT’S A CLOUD OF THE HOLY GHOST

God’s blessing could also be de-scribed as His cloud that settles over youwhen He moves upon your life. This cloud

64

He Commands His Blessings

goes everywhere and anywhere with you.It creates a conducive atmosphere forwhatever you’re doing. Remember thecloud that followed the children of Israelwhen they left Egypt?

“And the Lord went beforethem by day in a pillar of acloud, to lead them the way;and by night in a pillar of fire,to give them light; to go by dayand night:” (Exodus 13:21)

“Moreover, brethren, I wouldnot that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers wereunder the cloud, and all passedthrough the sea; And were allbaptized unto Moses in thecloud and in the sea;” (1Corinthians 10:1-2),

That same cloud goes with you to-day. God doesn’t want you alone.

65

When God Visits You

I learnt the secret of what I’m shar-ing with you a long time ago. I knew itwould work for everything and in everysituation. It will work in your finances; itwill work in your family and it will workin your health and every area of your life. All you have to do is stay under the cloudof God. Everything you’re involved in justhas to prosper. Let the blessing of God restupon you today. Let that force field of theSpirit be set up strong in your life.

IRREVOCABLE BLESSING

Another very important point youneed to note is that this blessing is not re-versible. Once God blesses you, He neitherdesires to reverse it nor stop it; you are in-deed blessed forever. I love what Isaac saidto Esau after Jacob had deceived him andtaken the blessing.

“And Isaac trembled very ex-

66

He Commands His Blessings

ceedingly, and said, Who?where is he that hath takenvenison, and brought it me, andI have eaten of all before thoucamest, and have blessed him?yea, and he shall be blessed.”(Genesis 27:33)

The Living Bible translation puts itbetter this way “…I have already eaten it(the venison) and blessed him with irrevo-cable blessing?” Isaac said he couldn’tchange it because the word had goneforth, and nobody, could alter it. It wasimpossible to reverse it, and the Biblerecords that Esau wept bitterly, and foundno place of repentance.

King Balak of the Moabites wasafraid of an invasion from the children ofIsrael, who had been invincible in war. Heknew that there was an unseen force pro-pelling and prospering them, and he knewthey had to be cursed for him to defeatthem. So he sent for a well-known prophet,

67

When God Visits You

Balaam, to curse the Israelites. By the timeBalaam got to where the children of Israelwere, blessings came out of his mouth in-stead of curses. After trying several times,he finally said,

“Behold, I have received com-mandment to bless: and he hathblessed; and I cannot reverseit... Surely there is no enchant-ment against Jacob, neither isthere any divination againstIsrael...”(Numbers 23:20,23).

Every curse in your life was re-versed into a blessing the day God steppedinto your life. Anyone that tries to put anycurse on you now endangers himself, be-cause

“... ye are thereunto called,that ye should inherit a bless-ing.” (1 Peter 3:9)

68

He Commands His Blessings

“No weapon that is formedagainst thee shall prosper; andevery tongue that shall riseagainst thee in judgment thoushalt condemn. This is the heri-tage of the servants of theLord, and their righteousnessis of me, saith the Lord.”(Isaiah 54:17)

Any attempt to destroy you is anattempt in futility. Don’t allow anyone todeceive you, because you are the blessedof God.

69

When God Visits You

Chapter 7

You Become A Blessing

When God commands His blessingon you, that blessing follows you andmakes you a blessing to your world. Ev-eryone and everything that is associatedwith you will be blessed as well.

You must understand that Godsponsors no flops. It’s no longer possiblefor you to fail; the very fact that you’represent in a place causes God’s blessing tocome upon everything in that place. You’rea package of power, a parcel of blessing.Your words are no longer ordinary; theyhave been empowered to bring forth; toproduce result.

God called Abraham one day and

70

instructed him to leave his native country. He said to him,

“And I will make of thee agreat nation, and I will blessthee, and make thy name great;and thou shalt be a blessing:And I will bless them thatbless thee, and curse him thatcurseth thee: and in thee shallall families of the earth beblessed.” (Genesis 12:2-3)

This is most inspiring! God doesn’tstop at blessing you alone. The influenceof the cloud will be so much that every-one and everything around you will par-take of Jehovah’s provision, protection andall contained in the blessing.

Abraham prospered wherever hewas, and prevailed over every circum-stance he faced. It was the same blessinghe passed on to his son, Isaac, who pros-pered enormously in the midst of famine

71

When God Visits You

(Genesis 26:2-30) and bitter opposition. Itwas the same blessing that Jacob, theyounger of Isaac’s two sons, earnestly cov-eted and received.

When Jacob became an old man, just before his death, he called his childrenand grandchildren to him and blessed eachof them (Genesis 49:1-33). He had learntby experience the importance of the bless-ing of Abraham and so he declared theblessing upon their lives. Jacob proclaimedthe blessing of Abraham on his childrenand grandchildren. And many generationsafter, this blessing is still working on theseed of Abraham.

Now, words of blessing spokenforth from the lips of a child of God; theseed of Abraham, are very important. These words stick on, until they are com-pletely fulfilled. When you say to someone,“God bless you!”, you must realize that it’sneither a cliché nor a slogan because thereis power in your words, it would definitelywork in that person’s life. That’s why you

72

You Become A Blessing

need to consider what you say to otherpeople very carefully; you might just makeor mar their day.

When the blessing of God comesupon you, your life will be on the winningtrack. Have a strong desire for the thingsof God, for the Word of God. Set yourselfto pray like you’ve never done before andlet revelation knowledge leap out of theWord of God to you as you study.

73

When God Visits You

Chapter 8

Let God Visit You

God is good! (Psalm 73:1). That’swhat the Bible says. It’s different from say-ing ‘God is a good God’. God is more thana good God; goodness is His character. Itis His nature to be good.

The visitation of God is real, and Hedesires to impact our lives in a special waybecause He loves us. The love of God is be-yond description, and many people don’treally understand what that means.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begottenSon, that whosoever believethin him should not perish, but

74

have everlasting life.” (John3:16)

This is about the most popularverse of scripture and still a lot of peopledon’t understand what it really means.Carefully observe that it didn’t say “…Godso loved the world and he gave…” otherwiseit would have meant God’s giving wasn’tdependent on His love. So, it says, “…Godso loved the world that he gave…”; it wasHis love for the world that compelled Himto give. This should make you realize theextent of your value to God; you’re of tre-mendous value to Him.

When God visits you, it changes ev-erything about you; your life and your per-ception are totally changed. This is whatyou need. In fact you need a daily visita-tion from God, you need to be able to rec-ognize Him when He comes to you every-day. Don’t be satisfied with last year’s visi-tation, because that will not suffice for to-day. It’s today’s knowledge that will af-

When God Visits You

75

fect you; what you know about Him nowis all that matters.

Don’t be like the Pharisees andSadducees, who in spite of being teachersof the law, didn’t recognize the Son of Godwhen He walked among them. He toldthem, ‘a greater than Solomon is here’, butthey didn’t understand what He was talk-ing about. Will you know Him when Hecomes to you? Will you hear Him whenHe talks to you, or are you waiting on yoursenses to perceive Him?

The blessing of God for you maynever work, until He visits you. When Godvisits and then blesses you, it’s like beingunder ‘the dew of Hermon’; the anointingof the Spirit of God is like the dew ofHermon. And God wants to keep ourhearts wet so His Word can easily producethe fruits of what it says in our hearts. TheBible says the issues of life flow from theheart (Proverbs 4:31), therefore, once yourheart has been thoroughly impacted by theWord of God, its effect will ultimately re-

Let God Visit You

76

flect in your life. But if your heart isn’t wetwith the ‘dew’ from heaven, your lifewouldn’t produce Word based results.

God wants to affect us in a specialway. You may have never found yourselfin the manifestation of the Presence ofGod, knowing that He’s there with you.You may have been a Christian but neverhad a close fellowship with the HolyGhost. If you crave for God’s visitation, then God is at your door, waiting for youto respond to His Presence. As I have saidearlier, He really loves you, irrespective ofwho you are and what you’re goingthrough; it’s His nature. He is alwayswhere His children are, and it’s His ear-nest desire that His children would knowwhen He comes to them, even though Hisabiding Presence is always there for them.

If you follow the things I’ve sharedwith you in this book, you’ll discover thatyou will be more conscious of God’s Pres-ence around you and would definitelyknow and be ready when He visits you,

causing changes in your situation. EnjoyGod’s visitation everyday of your life!
