Feeling confined? CAPE is online Online Debriefing Program
The Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education (CAPE) has launched an
online offering, Strategies for Debriefing Healthcare Scenarios. Based on lessons learned
from colleagues at NASA, the FAA and other industries where the risk to human life is
high, this training course will help you master the art of debriefing, one of the most
effective strategies for empowering healthcare professionals to deliver safe, high-quality
patient care. If you are a novice or an experienced debriefer looking for ways to enhance
your skills, Register online to take advantage of this CEU and CME-accredited program
while opportunities for face-to-face training are restricted due to social distancing.

CAPE's CounselSimProgram in FresnoCAPE recently hosted a program for the
Community Regional Medical Center in
Fresno, CA. Neonatologist and CAPE
alumnus, Dr. Anand Rajani writes,
"...Many neonatologists in my group had
never experienced the power of
simulation first-hand. All were amazed by
the power of video and how much we
could all learn from one another when it
comes to communicating effectively with
our patients. Every physician has shared
their gratitude for the opportunity and has
felt that this has positively impacted how
they doctor."

Seminars in PerinatologyThe December issue of Seminars in
Perinatology focuses on patient safety. A
chapter on briefing, simulation and
debriefing describes how three high-
consequence industries (healthcare,
aerospace and the military) use
these activities to enhance safety. Dr.

Farewell, LillyCAPE recently said goodbye to our Program Manager, Lilly Hermann, as she and her
family moved to Irvine, CA. We are very thankful for the countless contributions that Lilly
made during her tenure at CAPE. We wish her well in her next endeavor. Thank you, Lilly,
you will be missed.
