3151 On Google and In Your Group
I googled 3151 this week. “Googled” is not actually an official word. But I think it will
soon be. What I actually did was perform a search on the Google internet search engine
for “3151”. Here’s what I came up with for 3151.
3151 is an address. 3151 Northwest 41st Street in OKC. It’s a single family home for
rent if you’re interested.
3151 is a genetic ID. Yes, that’s right. If you are a geneticist, 3151 is the number for
HMGN2 or high mobility group nucleosomal binding domain 2. I wrote out what HMGN2 meant, for other
people. I’m sure you already knew.
3151 is an Xbox game error code. It means that your system update was not downloadable. Bummer, now
you can’t play the latest game update. Pokémon no-go.
3151 is a bill in the 114th US Congress. It is a bill requiring information on arrests by U.S. Immigration
and Customs to be made public. Yep, that’s going to make a lot of difference - sarcasm aside.
3151 is a challenge. This challenge begins with soul-winning Commitment Day on the first Sunday of
October. It is a challenge to pray for 3 spiritual lost people, learn 1 Gospel presentation, invite 5 people to
attend your group, and share the Gospel at least 1 time.
In my opinion, the 3151 Challenge is the best one. I’m asking every person in every Sunday School Group to
make at least some commitment to the challenge. Each week in the Sunday School Group you will record any
updates in your challenge. I’ll get those figures from Damien and share them in the Sunday Morning Services.
If you haven’t already begun to pray, learn, invite and share its time now to get started.
Only you can make a difference. But will you make a difference. You must do something. We need you to be
about the Master’s business with us. I’m asking you to do this for one month. One month is not very long. But
you can be a part of changing someone’s eternity and that is a long, long time.
What’s Inside?

In Jesus always,
The October Leisure Adult Luncheon will be
Tuesday, October 25 at 11:30 a.m.
We would love to have you join us for this monthly
meeting of our church’s
senior adults. The luncheon will be in the gym.
After the meal, Wynn Anne Hook will give a report on
the Singing ChurchWomen’s
ministry trip to Latvia. It will be good for us to hear
what God is doing in one of the
countries in which the BGCO has a partnership.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
Johnny & Mary Jennings
Sunday School Council The Sunday School Council will meet on October 16th,
the third Sunday of the month, at 8 am in room 103. The
Council is made up of Sunday School Directors,
Teachers and Outreach Leaders. It is very important that
you attend. We try to discuss all of the new and
upcoming activities that our people need to be informed
about. If you cannot attend for some reason please
recruit someone to attend in your place and bring the
information back to you. Thank You.
Widowed Member Banquet
The evening of Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 will be a
time for the Deacon Council of Village Baptist Church
to honor all Widows and Widowers in our fellowship.
All widowed members are cordially invited to attend a
special program beginning at 6:30 PM in the
McMurrain Center. A delicious dinner will be served,
followed by music and a special message from Johnny
Wagner. We also plan on providing a gift to each of
you. Please return the RSVP card to the church office
by Monday, October 3rd, 2016.
It is our heart desire to utilize this plan to equip and
engage every church member to take ownership of their
faith and reach others for Christ.
This month we will make commitments to each other and
to God to go out, pray, share our faith, and invite
someone into our Sunday School Classes. Please take
some time to engage with what is going on here at our
church and prayerfully take ownership of our evangelism.
Connect >1 is an emphasis to EQUIP & ENGAGE
every church member in personal EVANGELISM
through the church’s small groups or SUNDAY
SCHOOL.
Pray For Our Own Elisabeth
Elisabeth begins her two-year missionary work this
month among the North African Muslims. Please
pray for these requests:
That she will learn the language quickly and well.
That God would send dreams about Jesus to the
people to whom she will be having conversations.
For boldness to share the Gospel to whomever she
speaks.
Elizabeth’s primary work will be teaching English to
Muslim University Students. You can receive
updates by emailing her at
Our next Lord’s Supper will take place during Sunday evening service on October 16th, 2016 at 6pm.
With the budget cuts this year, we are not only downsizing in staff, but also in breadth of ministry. Village Baptist Church is at a place where we need to focus on the major things that bring people to Christ and grow the church. Any refocus of this kind will involve our Sunday School groups. They are the largest and most important ministry of our church. Pastor Jimmy has determined to make our Sunday School Groups the major focus of our ministries. That means some staff reassignment and realignment. Damien Parks will be the lead minister of our Sunday School/Small Groups from the ages of 18-59. Damien will work closely with these departments and other small groups within this age range to build them into healthy groups exhibiting the five purposes of the church: Evangelism, Discipleship, Ministry, Service and Worship. Damien will also consult with Nate Kinney and Allen Kimberlin. Nate Kinney will take over the Youth Ministry at Village. Nate will still be the Facilities Superintendent, but his hours in maintenance have been reduced so that he may perform in a part-time capacity for our youth ministry. Allen Kimberlin will also take on a dual role of Minister of Music and Senior Adult Small Groups. Allen will work with groups in the 60 plus year category. We have not fully fleshed out these role changes and we are certain that there will be future adjustments as we make our way forward to a healthy and vibrant ministry.
