Downtown Portland: Downtown is the heart of the city and center for dining, shopping, and nightlife. A great area for exploration can also be found downtown. This area on the west bank of the Willamette River features many newer buildings, including condos and townhomes as well as offices. One of this area’s features is its accessibility through public transportation. With access to Max lines, Portland Streetcar, and buses as well as a high walkability score, the high-density area of downtown is a favorite spot for living and exploring. It is also the home to PSU.

Southwest Portland: Home to excellent schools, parks, and homes with yard space; Southwest Portland also features many great views, as many homes are featured on hilly terrain. In addition, OHSU and the VA hospital are centered here. Since this area is one of the more recent developments in the city’s history, it is home to many of the area’s newer retail developments and shopping centers. Located within SW Portland, the Lair Hill neighborhood is centered on history, and many of the area’s homes are historical landmarks. Both Corbett and Terwilliger are attractive areas with lovely homes and beautiful views. In addition, Southwest Portland also includes the up-and-coming South Waterfront area for those looking for a new, high-density neighborhood with excellent shops and eateries. Southeast Portland: This area across the Willamette from downtown is home to a variety of homes ranging from riverfront estates to bungalows and new condominiums. With most areas on the east side of the river offering level terrain and sidewalk access, many residents grow to appreciate the area’s walkability and bikeability. This area is home to many of the area’s famed restaurants and historic retail centers. In addition, residents appreciate the numerous parks and natural areas that Southeast Portland has to offer, including Mount Tabor and Laurelhurst Park. North Portland: North Portland is a diverse area featuring residential, commercial, and industrial areas. It is home to the University of Portland and the Portland International Raceway as well as a vibrant residential community. The area’s renewed growth, stunning architecture, and hip culture make it a popular spot for residents and visitors alike. Northwest Portland: Directly connected to the heart of the city, many Northwest Portland neighborhoods are referred to as Downtown because of their proximity, but this area features a unique, urban vibe that residents and visitors adore. Two of the most sought-after areas in NW Portland include the Pearl District, the Aphabet District, and Nob Hill. Area schools are top-notch and despite a somewhat hilly terrain, the area is considerably walkable, making Northwest Portland a popular destination to live and play. Northeast Portland: This region of Portland offers a diverse collection of neighborhoods ranging from the urban Lloyd Center area with highrise buildings to the semi-suburban neighborhood areas along Irvington, Grant Park, and Alameda. The southernmost parts of this area serve as a hub for nightlife in the community while the outer, northern parts are highly suburban, making this one of the more diverse areas of Portland both in neighborhoods and in demographics.

Beaverton: Oregon’s sixth largest city features many highly planned and attractive neighborhoods. This wonderful location has over 100 parks within its city limits, making it popular with residents and visitors alike.

Lake Oswego: One of the area’s prestigious suburban communities, this beautiful and enticing locale is sought after because of their outstanding schools, excellent community parks, and the community’s small town feel.

Tigard: Just minutes from downtown Portland, Tigard offers a unique blend of larger-city amenities with the friendliness and community spirit of a small town.

West Linn: In 2011, West Linn was the top-ranked Oregon city to appear on CNN/Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live.” Situated about 25 minutes from downtown Portland, the small town feel combined with outdoor activity options make it a popular destination.

Wilsonville: A popular destination for people using the area as a halfway point between jobs in Portland and Salem, this small town offers the convenience of cities with a great community feel.

Vancouver: Located on the North Bank of the Columbia River across from Portland, Oregon, Vancouver offers the convenience of no income tax for those who work in the state with the convenient location of tax-free purchases in neighboring Portland.

Brush Prairie: Brush Prairie offers a quaint small-town feel in the state of Washington. Residents appreciate its proximity to a larger metropolitan area, for conveniences, with the benefits of truly being community-oriented.
