Abstract for What should we do with Hong Kong’s Waste? As the three main landfills, Tseung Kwan O (South), Ta Kwu Ling (North) and Nim Wan (West) will all be filled by 2015, 2017 and 2019 respectively, crisis draws near. Therefore, intense debates are emerging to try to find the best solution to solve this problem. Even though the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) and its secretary Mr. Wong Kam Sing had proposed to build an integrated waste management facilities (IWMF), better known as an incinerator, and to enlarge landfills, this proposal caused severe protests from green groups. Consequently, the writer would like to investigate whether there are more solutions that could decipher our crisis and would create a mutual agreement between the government and the people.
