continents.• There are 7 continents on earth.• They are Africa, Asia, Australia,

Antarctica, North America, South America, and Europe.

Mountains• A very tall landform that is created

by forces beneath the earth.• The tallest mountain on earth is

Mt. Everest.• Mountains can be pointy or

rounded on top.

Rivers• A large flowing body of water that

usually empties into a sea or ocean.• The Mississippi River is the longest

river in the United States.• Rivers act as transportation systems

for many communities.

Deserts

• A very dry area with few plants and little rainfall.

• Covers 1/3 of earth’s surface.• Made up of soil and loose dirt.
