What is TSS? Total Suspended Solids or TSS is a measure of the amount, in milligrams, of solid matter in a given liter of water. One milligram per liter is equivalent to one part per million (ppm). The NJDEP limits TSS to no greater than 30 ppm as a monthly average. Therefore, for every million parts of water leaving the BRSA as finished product there can be no greater than 30 parts of solids. For the year 2015 the BRSA averaged 9.3 ppm of TSS.
