What is Teen Suicide?

Teen suicide is when young person ends his/her own life. By hanging themselves, taking over the counter drugs.

girlfriend Failing a big exam Witnessing family turmoil bullying

Signs and symptoms

Extreme personality changes Loss of interest in activities that used to be enjoyable Changing in eating habits Difficulty falling asleep or wanting to sleep all day Fatigue or loss of energy Feelings of worthlessness or guilt Withdrawal from family and friends Neglect of personal appearance or hygiene Sadness Having trouble concentrating Extreme anxiety or panic Drug or alcohol use or abuse Aggressive behavior Poor school performance Hallucinations or unusual beliefs

Treatment

Individual therapy. This is suicide treatment that involves therapy just for the teenager to help him or her work through feelings and suicidal thoughts.

Family therapy. Sometimes family therapy works best in instances of teen suicide treatment. This can provide a supportive environment for the teenager, as well as help the family learn how to cope with the problem and work together.

Hospitalization. In some cases, it is necessary to provide a teenager with a secure, safe and constantly supervised environment. Most in-patient suicide treatment includes therapeutic aspects, and offers the kind of supervision that might be necessary in extreme cases.
