Football for Good (FFG) is a social business built on a proven global youth soccer academy model that is focused on unlocking the competitive advantages of war-recovering and emerging regions to develop talent, drive education, mentor youth leaders, lead social change and provide financial returns and opportunities to the communities it serves. This is “Fair Trade Football”. The Problem Developing countries have been shut out of the lucrative business of football, despite a passionate culture of the game, peaceful and emerging economies and a growing population of determined youth. The best youth are making it to Europe and the Middle East, but are forced to leave home to pursue these opportunities due to a lack of quality local training, competition and club sophistication. Foreign, well-funded, academies are poaching youth players, reaping the economic benefits and not reinvesting locally. This is a brawn, brain and economic drain that must change. The current structure, at most, educates and enriches only a few individuals. FFG aims to empower entire communities. The Solution & Approach This problem can only be solved with local partnerships, investment, training and education. FFG will utilize international training innovations from a variety of education and sport disciplines, as well as the best practices of global youth football leaders like Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia). In the past six years alone, Dinamo Zagreb transferred 26 academy players to clubs in Europe for a return of over 120 million. The total annual cost of running their academy is just 1 million. With disciplined leadership, local partnerships and a professional commitment to the program, this is what’s possible – starting with our launch partner in northern Uganda, the Gulu United Football Club. The Gulu United Football Club & Northern Uganda Gulu United sits in the economic hub of a now peaceful and developing region of over six million people. The bright lights of the international media and the deep pockets of aid organizations have moved on, yet the time is now right to invest in youth. FFG has a ten-year history in the region that, combined with a deep culture of football and local leadership, provides the perfect opportunity to deliver youth football innovation, education and community development. Brief: FFG develops soccer talent, mentors and educates disadvantaged youth, and leads economic and community development, which can be replicated in emerging regions in sub-Saharan Africa, South America and Asia. This is “Fair Trade Football”. Market Size: €2.5 billion+ annually in global player transfer transactions. Major Milestones: 2 players named to U17 national team, MLS and UK interest in youth players; founder Adrian Bradbury moving to Uganda in Jan. 2015 to accelerate FFG. What is Football for Good?

Football for Good (FFG) is a social business built on a proven global youth soccer academy model that is focused on unlocking the competitive advantages of war-recovering and emerging regions to develop talent, drive education, mentor youth leaders, lead social change and provide financial returns and opportunities to the communities it serves. This is “Fair Trade Football”. The Problem

Developing countries have been shut out of the lucrative business of football, despite a passionate culture of the game, peaceful and emerging economies and a growing population of determined youth.

The Solution & Approach

This problem can only be solved with local partnerships, investment, training and education. FFG will utilize international training innovations from a variety of education and sport disciplines, as well as the best practices of global youth football leaders like Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia). In the past six years alone, Dinamo Zagreb transferred 26 academy players to clubs in Europe for a return of over €120 million. The total annual cost of running their academy is just €1 million. With disciplined leadership, local partnerships and a professional commitment to the program, this is what’s possible – starting with our launch partner in northern Uganda, the Gulu United Football Club.

The Gulu United Football Club & Northern Uganda

Gulu United sits in the economic hub of a now peaceful and developing region of over six million people. The bright lights of the international media and the deep pockets of aid organizations have moved on, yet the time is now right to invest in youth. FFG has a ten-year history in the region that, combined with a deep culture of football and local leadership, provides the perfect opportunity to deliver youth football innovation, education and community development.

Youth Education, Leadership & Community Impact

Every FFG youth player will be training (and aiming) to become a world-class professional, but only our very best will make it. However, all youth who participate, or even come in contact with the program, will benefit. In the first three years alone, FFG will deliver local scholarships and international education opportunities, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership and community building skills that go well beyond the game of football. FFG success will mean a sustainable football club and academy, in turn creating an ongoing investment in youth, local entrepreneurs, ingenuity and community development. The Impact Investment & Philanthropic Opportunity

Founder Adrian Bradbury is moving his family to northern Uganda in January of 2015 to build on FFG’s early momentum and set the foundation for both the youth academy and community partnerships. We are seeking both strategic philanthropists and impact investors to provide working capital for staff, programs and the acceleration of FFG. With a $1 million five year funding goal ($300,000 in year one), FFG wants to build a relationship with funders who understand patient capital, social change and the unlocked, and often ignored potential of communities like war-recovering northern Uganda.
