Why have megacities emerged?1. Economic Development:Possibility of better opportunities in the city for health, jobs and education.2. Population Growth:Increase in birth rate/decrease in death rate + better quality of life = people live longer3. ‘Economies of Scale:’Businesses can save money by locating close to eachother. (Low transport costs!)4. Multiplier effect:Prosperity may attract more prosperity.
