HEALTH & COSMETIC

PtosisPtosis is drooping of the upper eyelid. The lid may droop slightly or it may completely cover thepupil. The drooping eyelid can obstruct normal vision.

EctropionEctropion is an abnormal lower eyelid that turns outward and no longer touches the eye. As aresult, the conjunctiva (the mucous membrane that lines the eyelid) may become red andexposed. It may involve one or both lower eyelids.

EntropionEntropion is an inwardly turned (inverted) eyelid. It can involve the upper or lower eyelid,however, the lower eyelid is more frequently affected.

Skin CancerSkin cancer often involves the skin of the eyelid or adjacent face. Eyelid skin cancers occur mostoften on the lower eyelid, but may be found anywhere on the eyelid margins, corners of the eye,eyebrow skin, or areas surrounding the eye.

Usually they appear as painless elevations or nodules. Occasionally, the eyelashes are distorted ormissing. There may be ulcerations of the involved area, along with bleeding, crusting, and/ordistortion of the normal skin structure. A biopsy may be required to confirm the diagnosis of skincancer.
