From the beginning, where it began

In 2019, Fledge Technology came to fruition through the mind of Mechatronics Engineer, Sandy Dasuki - who no longer wanted to sit idle as the world was heading into a high-tech future.

Fledge means ‘Flight’ and encompasses the notion of a ‘Fleet’ - embodying the ideal behind what it takes to truly invent in this world. It takes sound determination, courage, and a daring predicament to alter the way of which we are living now. Many innovations give rise when someone manifests smart solutions for society to progress into the next stages of human evolution.

Fledge Technology has been in operation since March 2019. The idea of ORION came to founder; Sandy Dasuki through an extremely intense Australian heat during summer in WA. Candidly, he made his way home and started producing blueprints of a device that will protect communities from sun damage and maintain vehicle lifetime value.

Sandy Dasuki is a Mechatronics Engineer and avid robotics enthusiast. Born and raised in Solo City, Indonesia; at a very young age, he indulged activities that involved taking apart electronic devices. Tweaking and redesigning gadgets that interested him.

Passionate about robotics, he decided it was best to start envisioning automation for communities to strive under strenuous circumstances. Sandy knew that his purpose remained in automated mechanisms, where he could greatly impact the lives of those around him through smart solutions. Prior to starting Fledge Technology, Sandy spent his time assisting and enabling

other startups in the technology sector. In the long tenure of 6 years, he became equipped with research and development insights throughout various industries, and helped build a foundation for many entrepreneurs who were seeking to turn ideas into real outputs for the betterment of society. Today, his mission is to develop products and create solutions that will allow people to navigate through their days efficiently. By utilising automation to eliminate the process of performing everyday mundane tasks, Sandy believes that the future lies in smart living.

There is still repetitive manual labour waiting to be replaced by automated solutions. Once this happens, I am hoping that society will shift towards adopting creative roles, where new and more meaningful jobs can be generated. Where people can challenge the status quo and engage in more fulfilling work for the rest of their lives.

Davin was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. After 18 years in a city where the roads never seem to end, he made his way to Perth, Western Australia to pursue his studies in Electrical Engineering, with an additional major in Accounting.

From his personal travels around the world, Davin was enlightened to an array of resources that allowed him to see inefficiency in areas that could be improved. All that was needed was the altruism in creating these solutions, and another like-minded individual to jump ship with him in order to bring this idea to fruition. When he met Sandy in 2014, the rest was history.

Davin values most out of all things; time and opportunity. With every moment, he believes that time is a passage that we simply cannot get back. This is why ORION was created on the idea that time is an essence to be maximised whenever there is an opportunity to. On the basis of this mindset, Davin wanted to see this automation through to the end, in the hopes that it will elevate the lives of all communities around him.

I love exploring what we can do to improve products and processes by building a strong engineering foundation. Even before the product goes into the market. More importantly, I value the ability to apply a range of techniques with my research, and develop a solution that users will find incredibly valuable.

Introducing ORIONIt’s absolutely human to be resourceful. For years, human evolution has shown us that being smart about completing tasks can leave us time for more important things in our lives. Because we’re hardwired to reduce menial processes through development and learning, it’s only natural for society to find ways of eliminating redundant affairs as time goes on. From this idea, Fledge Technology strives to breakthrough by bringing to you; ORION.

Orion (pronounced “Oree-On” ) Robotic Windscreen Sunshade, was developed on our founder’s reimagining of a robotic car protection tool. Bringing to the market a new technology that will radically change the way car owners protect their car interior - Fledge Technology aims to consolidate the standard car sunshade into a proficient, cutting-edge mechanism.

You’re looking at the world’s first automatic, portable and compact car sunshade. Equipped with smart algorithms, ORION provides users with reliable precision control without the use of physical sensors. The easy installation and practicality of the device will leave car owners thriving during the process.

WHAT IS ORION?

Orion combines the traditional form of Japanese paper folding art, sophisticated mechanical systems, modern automation control and quick attach functions.

All drivers will need to do is remove the device from its case, apply the units onto the windscreen through the high strength vacuum suction cups, pull down the latch to secure, and press the button. Our modular design provides users the ability to simply remove the reflector assembly, and replace it with a new one if it becomes damaged.

Each unit’s coverage area is fully adjustable with what we call a ‘Set and Forget’ function. All you do is simply hold down the button and release it once the desired size is achieved. ORION will then remember this size setting until the next time you reprogram it.

HOW DOES ORION WORK?

Have you ever heard of the phrase; “It gets so hot here, you can literally cook your eggs on the bonnet of a car?” - statements have truth in them because they come from a place of experience. Summer periods can get incredibly hot, but it shouldn’t (doesn’t) stop us from participating in outdoor activities. This is where Orion comes in.

Car cabin temperatures can reach up to 70 degrees celsius, resulting in off-gassing and health impacts through these chemical inhalants. Continuous exposure to the sun over long periods of time can also result in interior car damage lessening a vehicle’s overall lifetime value.

The purpose of ORION is to eliminate problem areas surrounding internal car temperatures and to reduce redundant processes that aren’t beneficial for the driver in the long-term. It is about serving communities with the ability to enhance time efficiency; promoting the diligence of using sunshades for car interior protection, and for these aspects to impact on their lives positively.

HOW DOES ORION SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS?

OFF-GASSING

Vehicles left in intense heat during summer periods can reach up to intolerable temperatures, which can lead to health impacts from too much exposure to chemical inhalants. Not necessarily toxins that should be avoided at all costs, however it is beneficial for us to work towards operating through more risk-free spaces.

TEDIOUS INSTALLATION PROCESSES

What’s the point of a product if it doesn’t fulfill its purpose? Traditional/Manual car sunshades have for a long time, given us nothing more than trouble and inconvenience. The thought of having to put up one of those traditional sunshades makes the chore of installing one even more unbearable.

INEFFICIENCY

If you’re someone who needs to get somewhere fast, there’s just no time to make sure your manual sunshade stays put. Once the process starts, you know you might as well see it through to the end. All that time spent unfolding and deploying the sunshade ends in frustration when it doesn’t remain intact.

Easy installation process. Fully automated, and readily deployable through one button. ORION can be attached/detached rapidly through its latch system, creating a strong vacuum within the suction cup to effectively stay on the windscreen. No crumpling, tedious refolding, or a defeated throwaway into the backseat.

A sustainable future. Our device doesn’t need to be replaced if the reflector assembly is broken. Separate parts can be purchased, and broken parts come back to us to make into other useful things.

ORION takes the edge off during peak summer periods where the hassle of manually installing a windscreen sunshade can become tedious and almost redundant. With this piece of new technology, an individual will be better off with managing their time, whilst reaping the benefits of a heat-regulated car. While our mission is partly due to the science of improving efficiency and productivity in an industrial context, mechatronics and robotics are not confined to it. Fledge Technology hopes to present a future where the physical and digital world can be melded together.

While ORION is equally useful on modern cars; as well as older vintage vehicles that exist today. In the automotive world where technology development and resources are becoming increasingly focused on autonomy, efficiency and convenience, there will come a future where the requirement to manually install a sunshade to protect your interior will feel unnatural when most aspects will be automated. This is where ORION comes in, Fledge Technology seeks to bridge this gap in the user experience of future mobility.
