What a difference a day makes!You go to bed having finished a daythat’s been pretty much the same forthe last 30 years and wake up the nextday a pastor. That’s how it works!What can I say? That’s what happenedto me! When it’s your turn, it’s yourturn, so you best be ready when Hecalls your name. It’s not quite likethat but in some ways it is. Jesus says,“He who has ears let him hear.”(Matt 11:15) The truth is that God has a

call that’s to all of us, a call to be in relationship with Him. Itbegins the day we’re born and never leaves us. We just haveto get to the place in our lives to hear it, to have ears to hear.How do we get there? Are these ears different? How do we getthese ears? Well, these ears are a symbol or metaphor forhearing, seeing and feeling. It means to realize, to becomeaware, to understand, to discover. As we go through life orjourney through this life, we have experiences. Some aregood, some bad but God uses these experiences to get ourattention. I’ll talk more about that another time.

Let me just say, I’m very grateful for the privilege toserve as Associate Pastor of Guymon Church of the Nazarene.What an honor and what a responsibility! This has been a veryhumbling experience, realizing a formal call from God to servein ministry and to receive your confidence and trust to be apart of this pastoral staff. I can’t put into words the joy in myheart to be in God’s will. I’ve gotten to know many of yourhearts and am looking forward to knowing more. I am eagerfor you to know my heart and for the days ahead servingtogether to advance the kingdom of God. I’m going to bepraying for you and ask you to continue praying for me duringthis transition. I am grateful for and covet your prayers.Please cover our youth and youth workers in prayer. Praise theLord for these leaders! There are exciting times ahead for ouryouth.

The Spirit of God is moving in our church! Faith isincreasing and so is the desire to obey. Jesus is touchingpeople and there are testimonies of healing, delivery andvictory. Others are testifying to a call from God and I believethis isn’t even the tip of the iceberg. Don’t you see what’shappening? As we pray and invite Jesus to disciple us, theSpirit of God is forming us into a church body of prayer anddiscipleship. We’re becoming the manifestation of our visionstatement! Praise God!!

In just a few weeks this church will host revivalmeetings. We’re excited to have pastors who are provenauthorities on the subject of prayer to lead us during this time.Pastor Corey Jones from Crossroads Tabernacle of Ft Worth,TX, as well as Dan and Carol Ketchum from Kansas City. Dan isdirector of Nazarene Missions International (NMI) and globalprayer initiatives. Please join us in praying for these speakers,each meeting, and for God to prepare our hearts to be inrevival. Join me in praying for revival as a happening ratherthan for a set of scheduled meetings. Come Jesus!!

Prayer is a vital part of everyfamily. I want to encourageyou to make the prayer revivalan important part of yourplans. Set aside September18-22 and bring your family aswe pray together as a church.

No child is too young to learn to pray. Nothingis too big or small to bring to God in prayer.Here are some specific ways you can pray forour kids: Pray for boldness at school that theywould represent Jesus. Pray that they will beJesus to those who cross their paths. Praythat they will help their families realize howimportant prayer is to keeping a family strong.

Many things are getting ready to kick off in thekid’s department. We have quizzing that startsSeptember 1st. If you are interested inquizzing they study on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The first quiz isset for October 12. This year, they arelearning the book of Genesis. We lookforward to seeing all the kids learn and howthey work hard to memorize the chapter ofGenesis. The other quiz dates are December7 in Piedmont, February 8 at Stillwater, March29 in Woodward, and May 3 is Guthrie. TheRegional Quiz is June 14th at SNU.

The children’s Christmas musical will startrehearsing on Sunday at 9:20 and onWednesday at 7:00 p.m. This is always agreat ministry and we look forward to the kidssharing with us on a Sunday eveningDecember 15th. They will begin working on"The Best Christmas Present Ever."

preparing for the Gospel Night in Guymonrecently, and I appreciate all y'all who joined usfor a night of singing and rejoicing. There was awarm spirit of freedom and grace, and everyoneenjoyed the many offereings of praise. We willdo it again.As I look ahead to the fall I am in greatanticipation for our Prayer Conference inSeptember. We are asking God to Teach Us toPray, and He will answer that prayer. Pleasepray with us in anticipation of those days, andplan to be here for those services. There isnothing more important than being in thepresence of our Holy God, sitting at His feet.

It may seem early, but this December we willoffer the Drive Through Nativity to ourcommunity. What Bible character do you wantto portray? September 18-22. Revivals are specially planned times tore-kindle the fire of passion in our hearts. If I say to myself,"Wayne, you are ok. You really don't need revival", I submitthat is a clear sign of cooling off in my heart for the passionof God. The first sign of spiritual slippage in my life is beingsatisfied with where I am right now!! When I've lost mypassion for more of God, it is a sure sign that I need to tendmy fire. I am praying for fresh fire in my heart. I am prayingfor fresh fire in our church. You are the church. Will youcome to revival? Will you come prepared to the fire to becaught ablaze? I pray you will sense a hungering for more ofGod and set some time aside to find what God has for you.Come to the fire. Come running.
