"Touching lives with the holiness and hope of Jesus" (580) 338-3553 www.guymonnazarene.org www.guymonfourtwelve.com I must admit, that Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. The music, the worship opportunities, the traditions, and family trips. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. Some relatives lived there and some lived in Missouri, so travel was always a part of the Christmas celebration. How I loved those family car trips to the farm. I still enjoy traveling to be with loved ones. How fitting because the very first Christmas, when Jesus came to earth through a virgin birth to a godly couple, they were on a road trip. And Jesus came, ready or not to Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem where there was sparse room in an impromptu animal shelter for a baby to be born. Jesus traveled to earth to live among us. The son of God became the son of man to show how to love and bear our sin on the Cross. It was a long trip. Without Jesus I canʼt imagine what the world would be like right now. But because of Jesus, we have eternal life and the Holy Spirit in the heart of all who invite Him in. We live in victory. Do you know the Jesus of Christmas? Do you have victory right now in your life? You can. Receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord and be prepared for the journey of life both now and forever. Christmas is a good trip. Donʼt let Christmas pass you by. Do the important. Worship. Gather with friends and family. Celebrate in music and giving. Go caroling. Pray in your small group. Read the daily scripture passages from the Anticipate guide you will receive at church. Put God first in your schedule and enjoy this Christmas See you in Worship? Wayne I love this time of year in the church. It is a time where we remember and give thanks. It is a time where we spend time with our families and loved ones. It is a time to be still before God and to offer praise and thanksgiving to God. It is a time to anticipate the birth of Christ. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and were able to spend time with your family. Thank you to Mike and Lucinda Ray for hosting our Halloween costume party at their barn again this year! Thank you to their small group for helping with the event as well. The students had a fun night where they could dress up and play some fun Halloween games. This year the NYI Council planned this party and did a great job! I am proud of the leaders they are becoming! I have encouraged the students to spend as much time as they can as a family this month. I encouraged them to participate in Operation Christmas Child together as a family and for the students to take their parents out for dinner and pay for them. Family is important and I want our students to realize the importance of spending time together as a family. Our annual Thanksgiving dinner was great! Thank you to the church Mission council for planning this fun evening and for allowing me to plan the dessert auction as a fundraiser for Denver mission. We fundraised $1,800! Thank you for attending, thank you for giving money so our students can go on this lifechanging mission. Thank you for giving to the Kingdom of God. May we all serve and not be served. May we all seek the Kingdom of God first in all that we do. May you experience the love of Christ this Christmas season. May we all celebrate the birth of our Savior. May we all remember the real meaning of Christmas this year and rejoice in Jesus. Merry Christmas to you and your families from Four Twelve Student Ministries! Grace and Peace, Pastor Matt West The kids are busy getting prepared for the Children’s Christmas Musical. On December 16 th at 6:30 p.m. the kids will be presenting “Miracle on Main Street.” After the musical you are invited to come downstairs and enjoy coffee and desserts as a fundraiser to help the kids go to World Quiz in June. Please make it a priority to be at as many rehearsals as you can. There will be rehearsals on December 5 th and 12 th from 6-8 and December 10 th and 12 th from 10:00 – 12:00. As the Christmas Season approaches, the best gift you can give your child is to visit with them about Jesus and if he is their best friend. Jesus has given us each so much. I want to encourage you and your family share God’s love with someone else this Christmas season. There are many ways you can do this. Make plans to be a part of the night of caroling. Or drop a card to a person you have not seen at church in a while. Take Jesus to some else this Christmas Season. Thanks so much for the love you have given to my family this year. Merry Christmas to each of you and may this next year grow you closer to God and closer to each other. The Children will be presenting a song from the musical during both services on the morning of the 16th. Please have your kids here by 8:00 am. Pastor Steve What a wonderful time we had celebrating the truth that "Help Is On the Way!" That phrase has come to mean so much to our choir, and I hope that you hold onto that truth for yourself. Times may be hard, but God is so good! He's never failed you, and He said He never would. Amen! I'm proud of our choir, who worked long and hard to memorize the music. I hope you were as encouraged by the testimonies of our friend as well, and that the reading of God's Word took root in your hearts. Our tech team did an outstanding job of balancing sound, running the light board, and providing visual support for the whole event. And they ministered in both services! You probably noticed some empty chairs in the choir loft. Come and fill them. We have lots of room for more singers. The choir, instrumental ensemble, and tech teams are a great place to find new friends and ministry partners. People often tell me, "I don't have a great voice," when I ask them about joining the choir, or "I don't play very often," when asked to join the band. "I don't know very much," is a common refrain when asked to join the tech team. You know it had never rained when Noah built the ark? And giant killers were few and far between before David stepped up to fight. And as for parting of a SEA? You get where I'm headed with this? Little is much when God is in it. Bring your little and let God make it much! Grace and Peace, Pastor Angela Christmas caroling December 9th at 6:00pm.
