WGTE Public Media Birding Multimedia Project WGTE Public Media, an award-winning PBS and NPR affiliate based in Toledo, Ohio, is developing a unique, two-year, multimedia project that will follow the astonishing travels of migratory birds, the changing world in which they live, and the extraordinary people who love them. The project, national and international in scope, will inform and educate audiences of all ages by focusing on bird ecology, the environment, economics, and more. Highlights • Video - 3 hours of television and online content will be produced: an initial one- hour documentary followed by four, half-hour episodes. • Crowdsourcing - Birders and others can be part of the project by providing video and images to a specially developed crowdsourcing website. • Educational Materials - K-12 educators and students will be served. WGTE has assembled a world-class group of advisors who will facilitate creation of the project: • Steve Pollick, an award-winning outdoor author and naturalist, is lead writer and host; • Kenn Kaufman, renowned American author, artist, naturalist, and conservationist, known for his work on several popular field guides of birds, is a leading content advisor; • Kimberly Kaufman, Executive Director at Black Swamp Bird Observatory, Toledo, Ohio and lifelong naturalist, is also an advisor; and, K-12 educational specialists and scientific advisors are being recruited. WGTE Public Media is currently assembling the funding necessary to realize the project, which will be shared with PBS stations nationally.
