Get Ready for your searchLegal abbreviations

Legal abbreviations help to identify which Court ruled a case and where this is reported. The Cardiff Index of Legal Abbreviations is a good source to find details of several abbreviations.

The neutral citation allows to easily find cases on Westlaw UK. This system was introduced by the High Court and the Court of Appeal in 2001and became later a standard for all UK courts.

A citation, similarly to a barcode, identifies eachcase and by typing its reference in the corresponding search field on Westlaw you can easily access the details.
