Next Steps

Back in February of 2002, Pat Savage applied for and became the Parks and Recreation Director for the town of Westford. She came to us from the town of Sudbury, where she had been the Parks and Recreation Director for 10 years. During her 15 years in Westford, Pat has created so many improvements in the Parks, Grounds, Recreation, and Cemetery Departments. She added fields to our inventory, and worked very closely with the sports teams to create and maintain those excellent fields for them to practice and play on. She computerized the cemetery records and greatly improved the record keeping in that department. Pat brought so many new programs to our town, including Rowing, the WPC After School Enrichment Program, and countless other programs that our residents continue to enjoy. Even as Pat is heading towards retirement, she is investigating adding new programs, such as paddleboarding, to our mix. Pat has enthusiastically assisted our other department heads with other initiatives outside of her department.

Please join me in thanking Pat for her 15 years of service to our community, and wishing her well in retirement. She definitely has left her mark on our town, and she is leaving us with very big shoes to fill.

We will miss her!

Jodi Ross, Westford Town Manager

Pat is an avid golfer. We hear she is looking forward to more tee time!

WPC 2018 February Vacation Special Programs

Hello Westford Family and Friends,

Welcome to the Westford Parks & Recreation Fall-Winter Brochure. My name is Michelle Collett and I am the new Assistant Recreation Director and WPC Program Director.

I have worked in the town of Westford for the past 17 years. My journey started in 1999, when I was the School Age Program Director at the Roudenbush Community Center. I left there after having my first child and returned to work for the town in 2005 when I was hired as the WPC Crisafulli Site Director. In 2008, I took on the additional role of Kids Club Summer Program Director.

I love working with the Westford community, and as Assistant Director, I can now devote my time to growing and enhancing all of the department's programs and services.

We at Westford Parks & Recreation take pride in our quality programming. Please take the time to read about our amazing programs so that you can take advantage of what we have to offer you and your family. From preschool programs to adult rowing programs, we have you covered! I'd love to hear from you, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or ideas.

The instructors are specifically trained in contemporary methods of teaching and many have decades of experi-ence. The non-profit MLTEP utilizes resources from the MLTC, however as a non-profit, the pricing is signifi-cantly lower than a commercial facility. With two indoor facilities in Acton, this will provide Westford residents with year-round opportunities to play tennis.

Junior Tennis Clinics Although there was a time when juniors learned with the same size equipment as adults, the modern tennis world took a different approach. Now juniors are instructed with lower compression balls, smaller racquets, and even a smaller court for younger players. The result is faster improvement, longer rallies, and greater success. The MLTC employs the most current teaching methods so that your child learns efficiently and has a great time doing it.

Westford Parks & Recreation partners with the Marcus Lewis Tennis Extension Program (MLTEP) to offer the highest quality instruction and programming.

RED Ball, Ages 4-8Young players start with a red ball that is larger, slower, and lighter. The smaller court and lower net is scaled to size for these developing players which allows them to cover the court, hit more balls, and build confidence. At this level, young juniors develop their technique and learn simple tactics.
