Both hereby make the following amendments of theFood and Drug Regulations, 1929:

Regulation 44 is hereby repealed and the followingis substiuted in lieu thereof :

REGULATION 44.(1) Confectionery is the product made from sugar,

glucose, or other saccharine substances, with or withoutthe addition of permitted colouring and harmlessflavouring substances, and with or without other foodsubstances, such as butter, wholesome edible fats, fresheggs, milk, chocolate, nuts and fruits. It shall not con-tain any paraffin, resin, foreign mineral substance, norany drug against which there is a restrictive law orregulation in force. It shall not contain more than one-half of one per cent. of alcohol, nor shall it contain anywhole or crushed uncooked grain:

Provided that nothing in this Regulation containedshall be taken to prohibit the manufacture by confec-tioners of lozenges and the like which contain a drugconcerning which any restrictive law or regulation is inforce for wholesale supply to the order of a registeredpharmacist.

(2) No person shall refill with confectionery for saleany once-used package which is made wholly or in partof wood, paper, cardboard, or the like absorbentmaterial.

Labelling.(3) There shall be written in the label attached to

every package which contains confectionery medicatedby the addition of any drug named or included in Regu-lation 72 the word MEDICATED in bold-faced sansserif capital letters of not less than twelve points facemeasurement.

REGULATION 59AIs amended by deleting the word "fifty" in the third

line and inserting in lieu thereof the word "twenty-five."

REGULATION 61Is amended by the additional paragraph as follows:

Preservative.(4) The preservative substance, benzoic acid in pro-

portion not exceeding 3 and 5/10ths grains per pint, orsulphur dioxide in the proportion not exceeding 5/10thsgrains per pintone, but not bothmay be added tosummer or temperance drinks.

Notice of Presentation of Petition for Possession (or Sale) of Land for Non-paynn ut of Rates.

fn the matter of "The Road Districts Aet, 1919," and in the matter of an Application be the RoadBoard for Sale of Land for Unpaid Rates.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Petition has been presented to the Local Court at Bridgetown by the Bridge-town Road Board, praying that an order that the lands described in the Schedule to the Petition may beordered to be sold for non-payment of rates.

A copy of the said Schedule is hereunto attached. And notice is further given that Wednesday,the 22nd day of July, 1931, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, has been appointed its the time when the Magis-trate will inquire at the said Court concerning the various matters mentioned in the said Schedule, and alsowhether all notices required by law to be given have been given.

Attention is directed to the following provision of the said Act:Rule 7, Third Schedule.Any person who is an owner or ratepayer of any land proposed to be sold

or taken possession of, or who is interested in the same as mortgagee or otherwise may, on filing anaffidavit proving his title to attend under this rule (of the filing of which affidavit the Clerk shall givethe Board notice), attend on the making of the inquiries, but if the Magistrate shall be of opinion thatthere was no substantial reason for his attendance, the Magistrate may order him to pay the costs occa-sioned thereby.

P.W. 320/31.REGULATION No. 244, published iu the GovernmentGazette on the 13th February, 1931, is hereby amendedby deleting 'the, words and figures "5.30 a.m. and 9.30

and 4.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.?' and inserting in lieuthereof the words and figures "5.45 a.m. and 9.15 a.m.and 5.0 pan. and 6.15 p.m."

Regulation No. 85, published in the GovernmentGazette on the 13th February, 1931, is hereby amendedby inserting before the words "elsewhere within theMetropolitan Area" in paragraph (1) (c) thereof, thewords "subject to Regulation No. 8,5A hereof."

A new Regulation, to be numbered 85A, is hereby in-serted after Regulation -,No. 85, as follows:

85A.- No person shall drive any vehicle on, over, oralong Canning Beach Road, Dunvegan Road, StromeRoad, within the Melville Road District, at a speed ex-ceeding 20 miles per hour.

The Eighth Schedule of the Traffic Regulations, pub-lished in the Government Gazette on the 13th of Feb-ruary, 1931, is hereby amended by, the addition of aroute, to be a non-continuous route, and numbered 83,as follows:
