WhAt We DoThe Caddie Scholarship Fund, a 501(c )(3) not-for-profit organization, provides college scholarships to students with financial need who work in service to golf at Westchester Golf Association member clubs.

oUr historYThe WGA Caddie Scholarship Fund was established in 1956 by Willie P. Turnesa and Udo Reinach. With over 2,000 recipients since its founding, the Caddie Scholarship Fund has provided in excess of $9,000,000 in scholarship aid.

oUr scholArshiPsThe CSF is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the nation. Caddie scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $8,000 per year for undergraduate study or for study at an accredited trade school. Maximum awards are reserved for exceptional students with exceptional need.

eliGiBilitYApplicants must demonstrate financial need, have applied to or currently attend an accredited school, and have worked a minimum of two seasons in service to golf at a WGA member club. Service to golf includes caddying, golf course maintenance, and work in the pro shop, bag room or on the practice range.

fUNDiNGThe CSF finances scholarship awards primarily through contributions from individuals, WGA member clubs, alumni, corporations, and foundations.

FROM THE PRESIDENT

September 1, 2011

Golf.

I am often amazed at the benefits this wonderful game brings. Whether it is simply bringing family and friends together for a few hours or the never-ending desire to improve one’s skills. It might be the joy and agony of competition. And it could be observing the great core values of personal responsibil-ity, honesty and courtesy towards others that the game instills.

Golf is all of these and so much more.

In our case, through the game of golf, we are helping young people achieve their dream of higher education. What a concept. What a goal. What a privilege.

We repeat the following numbers on these pages because they are worth reflection. The Westchester Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund currently helps support 273 scholars for their years in college. The Fund has raised over $9 million since it was founded in 1956 and has given scholarships to over 2,000 local young men and women.

We are able to do this because of you — through the generosity of members at our member clubs participating in the Bag Tag program; through participation in our Pro Am and Golf Mara-thon; through the enthusiasm of our volunteers and alumni and; through the dedication of our fine staff.

We all know of the high and rising cost of college and we all know the realities of challenging economic times. Yet, we also know the value of higher education and the reward of helping others. The Scholarship Fund is our example of the positive influence that the game of golf encourages.

Thank you very much for your continued support.

Sincerely, Robert J. BluestonePresident

EVENTS

3rd Annual CSF Golf Marathon

Despite rain delays and several site changes, the 2011 Golf Marathon was finally held on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich, CT. Participants included WGA caddie scholars, caddie masters, golf professionals and club members at Westchester and Connecticut clubs. The participants enlisted the support of friends, family and club members to benefit the CSF. Local businesses also supported their efforts by donating prizes for the most holes played and leading fundraisers. Playing from dawn until dusk, the twenty-two participants completed 1620 holes. The leading scorers were CSF alumni Andy Kruczkiewicz and Dan Mackey, who each played 134 holes. The longest drive winner was Joe DiDomenico.

We are grateful to the President, Board of Governors and membership of Tamarack Country Club for accommodating us on short notice, as well as to Rockrimmon Country Club and The Blind Brook Club for their willingness to host the marathon.
