Welcome to High School South PTSA
Hope you and your students had a safe fun and relaxing summer break with lots of family surrounding you We look forward to a fantastic year ahead and the Executive Board has started planning for a wonderfully SPIRITED year ahead We have some amazing Committee Chairs this year and are very excited about the events lined up so get involved in the PTSA so that you can help in contributing to our spirited school to support our students faculty and staff this year (Continued on page 4)

Ever since I arrived in the WWP School District (September 2000) I have heard parents and students discussing colleges In almost every instance the qualifier ldquogoodrdquo is used in front of the word college The use of this qualifier ldquogoodrdquo makes it seem to children that there are two categories of colleges ldquoGoodrdquo and ldquoBadrdquo I do not know of any ldquobadrsquordquo colleges I also think not everyone realizes how colleges are ranked or how little evidence is available to deem a college better than another Additionally I have seen too many students trying to do everything in order to build a resume for a college application Below I have provided some links to recent articles about college rankings admissions and student activities I hope you find them usefulhttpwwwnytimescom20150208educationedlifehow-to-raise-a-universitys-profile-pricing-and-packaginghtml_r=0
