WBPCPIR a contiguous area of 250 sq km
comprising Haldia mainland (200 sq kmapprox) and Nayachar island (50 sq km
approx)
Brownfield site with existing large petroleum,chemical and petrochemical units along with
port and supporting infrastructure.
Nayachar island is being developed as anadditional processing zone of the WBPCPIR.
PCR Chemicals Pvt. Ltd a JV between WBIDC
and NKID is the developer of the project. The
company has taken possession of the island.
WBPCPIR received formal approval from
Government of India in February, 2009.
Government of India(GoI) has approved INR2108 crore (USD 421.6 mn) towards
infrastructure development of WBPCPIR.
Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) between
GoI and GoWB was signed on October 29,
2009.
