What a fun afternoon it was! It makes such a difference when parents get involved in the planning and execution of this type of event. Sieumuoi and her team of parents, superbly supported by Trish, volunteer teachers and the admin staff, did a wonderful job and had an enjoyable time as well. If the parent team on the day was a bit bigger next time, they would be a lot less exhausted so please don’t hold back if you can lend a hand on these occasions! Lyn Fischer has retired from our school. She has been a key member of our administrative staff since before the school was even built. I know many of you, younger and older, will have known Lyn for many years. There will be an opportunity to farewell Lyn at our next full assembly on 29 th November followed by a cuppa in the café. I have received a number of emails about children’s safety as they cross the road and I am very concerned. We provide guidance and training at school periodically, but please remind our students and model for them, always to remember to look and listen before crossing, especially as they step off the pavement onto a side-street. I still see and often speak to a significant number of parents who nip across Kilkenny Drive to save walking a few meters to keep safe by using the pedestrian crossing. If this continues, it is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. Please let us work together to avoid this. Robin Kirkham, Principal

Kids for Kids Choir On Tuesday 12 November the Kids for Kids Choir performed at their fun-filled concert at the Vodafone Events Centre. Joining with 17 other schools from around Auckland, our Year 4 singers made Point View proud and had an amazing time singing kiwi music with Jackie Clarke and Nathan King as part of the ‘Big Aroha’ show.

APPA Music Festival The Year 6 Choir performed amazingly with the 450 strong voice choir last week the Auckland Town Hall for the APPA Music Festival. Ella and Phoenix had solo spots for Adiemus and Daniel, Josh, Joseph Chan, Harold and Micah performed as a string quintet for the last item, A Million Dreams. So proud of them all. Apart from the sheer awesomeness of the venue, they looked and sounded spectacular. Hopefully, they will have this in their memories for a lifetime. Pretty special moments for parents too. Thanks as always to you all for your support of Music at Point View School. Trina Clark Music Specialist

Grandparents Day For a week all the children at Point View School were preparing for an amazing day! Grandparents Day, the day started off with a short speech from our Principal Mr Kirkham. Then the Grandparents were guided to their grandchild’s classroom. All of the children had so much to share that before they knew it it was Morning Tea. All the grandparents got biscuits, tea and other treats, while all of the kids had to watch. Maybe some lucky grandkids got a treat or 2 from their grandparents when no one was looking! Finally, the concert began. Point View wanted to showcase a small amount of amazing talent at our school. Junior Drama, Junior Dance, Choir, Gymnastics, Ukulele band, Skipping and even a performance from our Community Choir. This was another amazing Grandparents Day and I can’t wait to see all the Grandparents again next year.
