• Some of the most well off parts of India (Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and Western UP) as

indicated in Well Being Index have the worst rating in terms of Female Security Index

• Some of the ‘Bad’ or ‘Worst’ districts in WBI like Orissa, Eastern UP, West Bengal,

Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Bihar score well in the FSI

• There is no correlation between the Well Being Index and Female Security Index

About National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO)

• NSSO is part of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation of Government of India

• The NSSO, since its inception, has been conducting multi-subject integrated sample surveys inthe form of successive rounds on countrywide basis relating to social, economic, demographic,industrial and agricultural statistics

• NSSO conducts surveys on multiple subjects with Consumer Expenditure being one of theprimary category along with Employment & Migration, Household Wealth & Finance, Educationamong others.

• NSSO is synonymous with reliable estimates on various aspects of economic and social life in

India based on large scale sample surveys
